The maze was built starting with the mother skeleton replenishing its magic.

Chapter 20 When you peer into the abyss, the abyss also peers into you.

Currently, Lance has seventeen drones flying on the first level of the Starfall Maze.

I randomly switched to a bat to share the field of vision, and the situation was beyond tragic.

The maze bats flew in a single file, about five meters above the ground, heading towards the stairs leading to the second floor.

On either side of Lance's field of vision, there were about four or five tan frogs squatting by the stream, their mouths open and tongues sticking out, watching the flock of bats pass by, seemingly planning to have a buffet.

In Lance's field of vision, he could clearly see two bats flying in front of him, which unfortunately got caught in his tongue and crashed.

"(A reluctant squeak!)"

Fortunately, the squad responsible for the assault suffered relatively few losses, with about five or six bats already flying close to the stairs.

and many more.

Could this field of vision be...?

From a first-person perspective, the bat, which was originally flying towards the stairs, suddenly stops in mid-air, flies upwards, and then dives rapidly downwards.

The target is one of the frogs that is chasing the stairs.

No! You'll disappear!

In Lance's view, the bat's descent was swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

Mom, I will become a firefly.

(Angry squeak!)

Lance switched his perspective in time.

Just then, from the perspective of a bat that turned its head back in the assault squad, they saw the bat that had sacrificed itself for its comrades from a third-person point of view.

He dove down from a great height and used [Blood Explosion LV2] while falling at high speed.

The massive explosion blew off the frog's right leg, preventing it from catching up with the vanguard.

Six surviving bats crossed the fire line and successfully descended the stairs to the second level of the maze.

Compared to the first floor, the second floor is more like Lance's labyrinth in terms of space and atmosphere.

The surrounding area is a cave with poor visibility, and almost every room has four different directions.

There were some damaged tracks on the ground, and it seemed that the second level was a huge, interconnected mine shaft.

Torches were hung at intervals on the walls, and Lance also saw some minerals growing in the walls.

Could it be a magic crystal?

As for monsters, from this bat's perspective, it could only see a few kobolds wielding pickaxes and shovels. As for the others...

What the hell!

Fireball!

A fireball was aimed directly at Lance's face, and he immediately lost signal.

Only after he switched to the other bat's view did he realize that an adventurer had appeared ahead and was casting a spell on the bat.

Run! The drone number is unknown!

The result was a plane crash.

A single fireball took down the LV10 Maze Bat, which means it was at least a LV3 level fireball spell.

So these adventurers should be around level 15-20.

Therefore, it can be roughly deduced that the first two levels of the Starfall Maze should be the main areas explored by adventurers below level 20, and the level of the monsters would naturally not be higher than level 20.

This information is crucial.

If it's just the first two levels, Lance could basically lead the army in person.

Let's look at another perspective.

Oh, this bat is quite clever; it found a dark corner and is hanging upside down.

Is this... a spider?

Spiders and kobolds are fighting? It seems that monster battles are a traditional feature of all dungeons.

Let's see from the next perspective.

Yes, being chased by kobolds.

This one doesn't look very smart, so it can just stay home and be a security camera from now on, instead of going on missions.

The next one... wait, where did this come from?

Lance was stunned.

The scene before him was completely different from the cramped mine he had seen before, and even more so from the dazzling and psychedelic style of the first level.

Besides being shocked, Lance couldn't even think of a way to describe his current feelings.

Before them was a waterfall so enormous that even a bat could not see it. Lance estimated that the waterfall was probably wider than the entire Kru Labyrinth in diameter.

The water flows straight down until it plunges into the deepest part of the maze.

Layer upon layer of corridors extend downwards around the waterfall, with distinct levels, and many monsters roam among them.

Is this the third level of the maze?

What's the difference between that and "This is an attack, this is a jump, this is a tree guard"?

(You can refer to the terrain layout in the picture, but the waterfall needs to be larger.)

As the bats began to fly downwards, the field of vision also shifted downwards.

The waterfall was so magnificent that Lance could only see the deeper layers after it cascaded down countless levels.

It was a lake hidden deep underground, with no end in sight. Its size was like a meteorite from outer space crashing through the earth's surface and arriving here.

No wonder this maze is called the "Starfall Maze".

Wait, is the lake surface shaking?

Not only the lake surface, but also the surrounding walls and rock strata all began to shake.

As if sensing something, the bat began to desperately fly back up the way it came.

A huge black shadow emerged from the bottom of the water, and then began to swim at an exaggerated speed, actually plunging upwards against the waterfall.

It caught up with the fleeing bat and leaped out from the nearby waterfall.

Time seemed to stand still at that moment.

Lance saw through the bat's first-person perspective that it was a huge aquatic monster that looked like a Dunkleosteus, and it opened its mouth to eat the poor bat.

A colossal wave, powerful enough to devour everything, surged up the entire underground lake, flowing back into each level of the labyrinth as the monster swam upstream.

As the monster fell, it crashed into the surrounding rock walls.

The entire maze then experienced a violent tremor.

All of this was for the purpose of eating this bat.

Lance cut off the shared vision, plopped down on the ground, and held his knees to catch his breath.

Today I was eaten by a frog and then by a strange fish.

Are bats really that delicious?

It seems that the bat stumbled into the depths of the Starfall Maze by accident, and the strange fish may be the lord of this maze.

Most importantly, Lance doesn't know which layer the scene in his field of vision begins from; the current information only guarantees that the first and second layers are safe.

If the magic crystal is on the second floor, then the goal for this stage is to explore these two floors first.

Considering that adventurers would appear on the second floor of the Starfall Maze, being too conspicuous might be seen as a threat, Lance decided that he would go alone for the initial exploration.

Before going out, I had to assign the tasks at home to Angelica, and explore the possibilities and expand the scope of our work.

When he's not around, she's the skeleton in charge.

Byrondin, the "Twilight Knight" tavern.

Ethan took a sip of his Southern wheat beer and then glanced up at the young female clerk's skirt.

The tall, thin man sitting opposite him coughed heavily, veins bulging on his forehead.

"I don't think our relationship is good enough for us to have a drink together, Ethan."

"How heartless." Ethan looked at McCann across from him, shaking his head with a smile. "I thought we'd always be good friends."

"Not always, we were never friends," McCann said with a straight face.

"Just because I beat you in the competition for Amysia?" Ethan put down his glass. "Don't be so petty, my friend."

The thought of Ethan, the pure daffodil of Frey Church, being plucked by someone like Frey, made McKen want to give him a taste of the fighting skills he had secretly practiced over the years.

Resisting the urge to shove his shoe into Ethan's mouth, McCann took a deep breath:

"Speak, what do you want from me? If you're looking to borrow money, then please leave."

"Take a look," Ethan said, handing over the diary.

McCann opened his diary, his brow furrowed so deeply it was almost a single line.

"Is this true?"

"Absolutely true." Ethan nodded, taking another small sip.

The next second, beer gushed out of his mouth, all thanks to the punch McCann landed on his stomach.

"I always knew you were a scumbag, but I never imagined you'd be this despicable! You actually betrayed Amysia and was having an affair with another man's wife in the capital!"

As soon as McCann said that, everyone else in the tavern immediately turned their attention to him.

Sipping beer, we enjoy the gossip around here as a side dish.

The bartender waved his hand helplessly, "Sir, if you want to fight, please go outside."

Ethan curled up in a ball, clutching his stomach, and struggled to lift his head:

"Read the last diary entry. Who told you to read the first one? *cough*..."

McCann turned to the last page with a livid face, and after reading it, he froze on the spot, his face turning even worse.

He quickly crouched down and lowered his voice:

"A witch in Byronden?"

"I can't guarantee it's true." Ethan coughed, unusually serious, "but what if it is? What do you think, current Bishop of the Byrondin branch of the Frey Church?"

Ethan finally caught his breath and sat back down in his chair, not taking McCann's punch to heart.

"Where did you get this diary from?" McCann continued to press.

Upon hearing this, Ethan's expression turned somewhat strange. He shook the beer glass in his hand and considered his words.

"You might not believe it... but I got it from a skeleton."
