The maze was built starting with the mother skeleton replenishing its magic.
Chapter 3: This is how we skeletons fight.
Inside the Frey Temple in Radiant Moon City, the capital of the human empire.
Bishop Valerie knelt before the enormous statue, her hands clasped over her shoulders, and bowed her head in prayer.
"Bless your followers, Freya."
Hurried footsteps came from behind.
"Your Excellency! We've discovered traces of the witch!"
The girl's voice was breathless, but it couldn't hide her joy.
Valerie opened her eyes and turned to look at the girl with golden twin ponytails and a flushed face from running.
She got up and walked over to her, stroking her head. Valerie didn't show any surprise, but instead sighed softly with heartache:
"Lilith, thank you for your hard work."
"It's all I should do."
Lilith looked to be only fifteen or sixteen years old, dressed in silver armor, with a resolute and determined look in her eyes that far exceeded her age.
"Your Excellency, the garrison at the border has reported to the local church that they have discovered a person suspected to be the Berzaha witch fleeing south."
"Belzaha is the demon god who controls pain and despair, and his witches spread evil blood curses that mutate people." Valerie frowned. "We can't let things escalate any further; we must eliminate the remaining witches immediately."
"Lilith, immediately lead your men into the southern border to prepare for the witch hunt! I will contact the church there!"
"Yes, Your Excellency!"
Lilith bowed, turned around and took a step, then paused, before slowly turning back to look at the bishop.
Her once resolute gaze was now filled with confusion, and she gently bit her lower lip:
"Your Majesty Bishop..."
Valerie already knew what she wanted to say, shook her head, and let out a long sigh:
"We haven't received any news from Angelica yet."
Two years have passed since that expedition.
Although the witch's stronghold was successfully destroyed, the losses were extremely heavy, with a large number of priests and knights killed.
The bodies of the other priests and knights who died in the line of duty were subsequently discovered, but Angelica was nowhere to be found.
Everyone believed she was still alive, after all, she was the church's most outstanding and devout priestess.
"Angelica-senpai will be alright, right, Your Excellency?" Lilith asked hopefully.
"She's just lost," Valerie said with a smile, reassuring the young church knight before her.
"The winds of Frey will guide her home."

"I'm lost."
Angelica looked around at her surroundings in confusion.
It felt like every room in the maze was pretty much the same.
After waiting in the "Resurrection Space" for about an hour, Lance and Angelica returned to the room they were in before they were defeated, after a flash of white light.
Lance then led her through several caverns, leaving her with the words, "Wait here."
It then disappeared into the depths of the labyrinth.
The fear and sense of unease I felt when I was first reborn as a skeleton have mostly dissipated by now.
After gaining a basic understanding of the situation, Angelica felt a strong curiosity about the maze.
"Anyway, we won't die."
She muttered to herself.
Instead of listening to Lance and waiting where he was told, he let his curiosity lead him to wander around.
Blue plants that bloom only underground emit a faint glow, illuminating the path leading to the cave.
For Angelica, who had only learned about labyrinths from books, everything here was new and exciting.
I was so engrossed in my stroll that I forgot all about it.
Then she got lost.
Several headless zombies lay on the floor of the cave, vines climbed the rugged walls, and some green blood splattered on them.
Judging from the appearance, the battle should have ended in an instant.
Thinking about it now, I didn't see any zombies in the resurrection space just now.
So, are different types of monsters kept separate?
Angelica tilted her head, deep in thought.
Indeed, humanity's exploration of mazes is still far from superficial.
"Crunch."
Angelica heard a familiar sound of bones colliding, a sound she knew all too well.
Looking over, she saw a giant skeleton, far larger than any ordinary skeleton, hiding behind the wall, peeking out half its head and cautiously observing her.
Ah, it's Mr. Guka.
Angelica felt a little embarrassed as she recalled how she had wiped out the entire skeleton party with a single Purify spell.
"Mr. Guka, I'm so sorry about what happened before!" Angelica bowed to him from afar.
"Creak!"
Guka quickly gave a thumbs-up in response.
But he still didn't dare to get close, so he hid behind the wall, afraid of scaring her again, and only poked out half of his head to look at her with a mixture of cowardice and curiosity.
"Guka, what are you dawdling for? Don't you know we're about to go to war?"
Lance's voice came from behind Bukkar.
He walked over, reached out and tapped Boneka's head, then turned and saw Angelica awkwardly poking her fingers.
What are you doing here?
"I'm lost..."
"Perfect timing," Lance said. "We're getting ready to fight the walkers. Follow us."
"They're here!"
Angelica jogged after her.
His Excellency the Bishop once said that it is common for monsters to clash over territory.
Angelica never expected that becoming a monster and participating in territorial disputes would bring her such strange feelings.
So Mr. Lance had been gathering skeletons in various caves, and he was followed by a lot of them.
Like an army of the undead.
So this is how lively the dungeon is when the adventurers aren't around!
"Ask me anything you want to ask now." Lance glanced at her. "Fighting is brutal. I won't have time to worry about you once the fighting starts."
"Eh!" Angelica exclaimed in surprise, muttering softly, "Could it be that Mr. Lance really can read minds...?"
"Your face practically screams 'I'm curious,'" Lance retorted.
"What I really want to ask is, if everyone is immortal, isn't there any point in killing other monsters?"
Angelica voiced her true feelings.
"It's simple." Lance held up two fingers, broke off one of them, and said, "Walks are low-intelligence monsters. What I need is not to kill them, but to subdue them."
Then he broke off another finger.
"Secondly, since monsters don't truly die, they need to find something to do during these long years."
Lance, with a bone age of 37 days, looked like a seasoned veteran.
As they spoke, the skeleton army traversed several caverns deep within the maze; what was once the lair of the walkers was now only filled with corpses.
It's obvious that the time of death was very recent and hasn't been refreshed yet.
This surprised Lance.
After exploring several more caves from the deepest part to the shallowest part, they finally encountered a few newly spawned zombies.
This monster is the weakest of the undead, second only to the skeleton. It appears as a highly decayed humanoid corpse, and there are individual differences between them.
They move slowly, emit a foul stench, and their secreted pus has a [corpse poison] effect; their level is generally between 5 and 8.
Although it is weak, it is a perfect counter to skeletons in terms of attributes.
Their thick skin and flesh effectively defend against skeleton attacks; moreover, the zombies attack with their fists and feet, while skeletons are vulnerable to blunt weapons.
With this shift in power, the skeletons repeatedly suffered losses.
"Bone, lead a squad of skeletons to meet the enemy," Lance decisively gave the order.
Boneka led a few small skeletons out of the ranks, gave Lance a thumbs-up, and then attacked the zombies.
If Lance himself were to take the field, he could defeat these zombies in an instant.
But today's mission is to establish authority and, incidentally, give the troops some training.
In the first wave of attack, the skeletons focused their fire and hacked the two zombies to pieces, sending them back to the "resurrection space".
But nearly half of the skeletons were shoved by the walkers, scattering their bones all over the ground.
Lance didn't speak, he just made a few gestures.
The skeleton behind them quickly took action.
A squad quickly stepped forward to replace squad number one.
The other team retrieved the bones from Team One.
Reassembly begins.
This was absolutely the most fantastical battle Angelica had ever seen.
She was certain that even the best bards on the mainland couldn't have written a story like this.
It felt like...like the kids in the village forming a gang and going to fight the kids from the next village.
It's just kids fighting at best.
The scenes include, but are not limited to, the following.
A skeleton had its lower body bones shattered by a walker's kick, and its remaining half lay on the ground, clinging tightly to the walker's leg in an attempt to restrict its movement. At the same time, it raised its middle finger and cursed under its breath.
After a skeleton's weapon was knocked away, it actually tore off its own ribs and used them as a weapon to smash the zombie's head.
Seeing that his companion's weapon had also been knocked away, he took the opportunity to pluck out one of his own ribs and hand it over. The two skeletons gave each other a thumbs up.
Another skull had its head knocked off. Halfway through the blow, it spread its arms to chase after its own head, but because it couldn't see the road clearly, it tripped over a stone and its bones fell to the ground.
Angelica opened her jaw and stared wide-eyed at the battle unfolding before her.
Lance covered his eyes with his hands, unable to bear the sight himself.
You can't expect a skeleton to win, and also win convincingly.
"Mr. Lance..."
"Shut up."
Lance interrupted Angelica with a dark expression, then stepped forward with his sword and ended the suffering of the zombies.
Three level 7 zombies have been killed (not the first kill)
