It's raining?

Su Mian had a terrible headache. She felt like she was experiencing sleep paralysis. She regained consciousness, but her body was unable to move. It took her a while to recover.

She propped herself up and squinted as she looked around.

Is she on her bed in the dorm?

"Did she just wake up?" Su Mian asked herself uncertainly, turning around to take out her phone and finding that it was already 12 o'clock at night. She felt like she had a very long dream.

But... is it really a dream?

Su Mian sat on the bed for a while before suddenly raising her eyes.

Wait a minute, shouldn't she be on her way to play a murder mystery game right now?

Su Mian opened a certain group and found the Milk Frozen Mud Detective Agency. As she swiped her fingertips across it, her heart sank slightly.

There is no such book as "Orphan's Lament".

That game... wasn't a dream at all.

Wen Zirui was right. Once someone gets caught up in it, no one can get out. Perhaps after who knows how long, she will be back in that terrifying world, in that endless murder mystery game.

As I closed my eyes, exhausted from the night, I found that I was in a much better mood than I had imagined.

Since we're here, we might as well make the best of it. If there's no way to escape, then we'll just have to take it one step at a time.

Su Mian slumped off the bed, staggering a couple of steps as she stood on the floor.

It was only then that they realized it wasn't raining, but rather someone taking a shower in the toilet.

Su Mian's dormitory was originally a four-person room, but because her and Qiao Yinuo's student numbers happened to be at the end, they were unexpectedly assigned to a rare double room.

But this was precisely the beginning of their nightmare.

At first, Qiao Yinuo's impression of Su Mian was that he was very good-looking, even to the point of being a perfect model, but she gradually found that he didn't like to talk to her.

Su Mian is the kind of person who gives off the impression of "living a very tiring life" at first glance.

His skin was always pale, and his eyes drooped slightly, as if he hadn't woken up yet, or as if he was too lazy to wake up.

She doesn't talk much, her tone is flat, and her emotions are either stable or, to put it bluntly, world-weary. She has no interest in grades, relationships, or the future.

She always quietly nestles in bed or by the window, and once she puts on her headphones, the world becomes irrelevant to her.

This is what Qiao Yinuo can't stand the most.

In her eyes, Su Mian was practically a walking source of negative energy.

Despite being so young, she has this "whatever, it doesn't matter" attitude, as if she's just going through the motions of living.

Qiao Yinuo is straightforward, has a loud voice, and her emotions come and go quickly. She likes excitement, the night, and the heart-pounding music in bars.

She felt that people should live life to the fullest, instead of quietly rotting away like Su Mian.

Su Mian's dislike for Qiao Yinuo is purely physiological.

Qiao Yinuo is too noisy.

He never checks the time. He comes back at two in the morning, smelling of alcohol and unfamiliar perfume. He plops down in a chair and starts rummaging through things.

Her life had no boundaries for Su Mian.

Their schedules are chaotic, they can bring friends back to the dorm anytime, and once they start a party, it never ends, with one noise after another.

As a result, they couldn't stand each other.

But Su Mian never argues with Qiao Yinuo. Although she is extremely irritable and her heart rate soars due to her emotions, and she can't help but cough, she hates, or rather disdains, expressing such emotions.

Just like in the game, she had cursed every single thing that annoyed her, especially Zhou Yichen, a thousand times in her mind, but she never expressed it.

It's less about being world-weary and more about being ill, but Su Mian already has many illnesses, so one more won't make a difference.

Judging by this time, Qiao Yinuo is probably taking a shower.

She loves going to bars and nightclubs, and it's not uncommon for her to come back at two or three in the morning. Today, she's actually early.

I didn't care about sleeping in, I just stretched and planned to go to the balcony to wash up.

But the moment she pushed open the door, she suddenly froze.

The toilet was pitch black.

"Qiao Yinuo?"

The empty silence was stretched open by the water vapor, but there was not a single response.

Su Mian's heart skipped a beat.

Who's inside?

Who's in the shower, using the showerhead, but not even turning on the light?

She stood there, stunned, her throat tightening.

In the past, she would never have entertained such wild thoughts.

But after experiencing that absurd and chilling "game," she had to admit that perhaps she had begun to waver in her once-firm belief in materialism.

Su Mian held her breath, reached out, and pushed the door open.

My chest tightened suddenly, then slowly relaxed in the next second.

There was only a faint light in the toilet.

A water card was inserted into the machine slot, and the screen was slightly lit, clearly showing the remaining credit limit.

……

My phone vibrated twice; it was a message from Qiao Yinuo.

【Oh dear roommate, I forgot to take my water card when I went out!】

[It'll probably start releasing water automatically again soon.]

Please remember to retrieve it for me if you see this, thank you!

……

Su Mian rolled her eyes silently, took out the card, and then turned to go to the balcony to wash up.

The next few days were perfectly normal, so normal that Su Mian almost forgot about the murder mystery game.

During that time, she searched for similar things online, but found nothing. She originally wanted to go to Zhou Yichen's school to see if he had really disappeared and how the remaining people were doing.

Su Mian sensed that something was blocking her way. Whether she was taking the subway or a taxi, whenever she tried to find the truth, it would inexplicably come to nothing.

For example, you might encounter a major traffic accident while taking a taxi, which would cause a normally passable road to be blocked.

When taking the subway, you can never catch it, while everyone else just switches to another line as if nothing happened, leaving you stuck in the same spot waiting in vain.

After waiting for almost an hour without seeing the subway arrive, I gave up and then everything returned to normal.

With final exam week approaching, she had no time to think about anything else and threw it all to the back of her mind, turning instead to intense studying.

The memory of that murder mystery game gradually faded, like a dream. After waking up, everything became blurry and eventually disappeared into the dust of time.

When Su Mian returned to her dormitory, she was greeted by Qiao Yinuo, who was panting heavily and reeking of alcohol.

Su Mian froze for two seconds before rushing over to help her up: "You went drinking?"

Qiao Yinuo looked up, her eyes red as if they had been smoked, her whole body weak, and she had a fierce anger that was both shameful and ruthless.

"I went out for a walk to clear my head, but some bastard drugged me... Ugh... Damn, I'm never going to that lousy bar again, the neighborhood is a complete slum!"

She cursed at the top of her lungs, grabbing the trash can as she ranted and raved.

Su Mian bent down and tucked Qiao Yinuo's hair behind her ear: "You still have the energy to curse? Can you stand up? I'll take you to the hospital."

Qiao Yinuo wanted to continue cursing, but her legs went weak and Su Mian grabbed her, and she mumbled incoherently, "Damn it... doesn't anyone care about the bars next to this school...?"

She cursed all the way to the hospital.

After going to the emergency room, having her blood drawn, and undergoing a simple vomiting treatment, Qiao Yinuo leaned back in her seat, barely breathing.

"I'm lucky to be alive, otherwise I would have died in that awful place tonight... damn it."

Su Mian patted her shoulder gently, her head aching from Qiao Yinuo's loud voice, and said wearily, "I'll leave as soon as I get the medicine, don't fall asleep."

Qiao Yinuo gave a mumbled "hmm" and buried her face in her knees.

Su Mian got up and walked towards the medicine window. The hospital's air conditioning was on high, and the corridor was quiet. She walked and looked around.

It was nighttime in the emergency room, yet there wasn't even a sound of footsteps.

She was standing by the window waiting for her medicine when she suddenly heard the soft sound of a wheelchair rolling behind her.

It was very soft and slow, but Su Mian heard it and it was rolling towards her.

She turned around abruptly; the corridor was empty.

Su Mian couldn't help but frown and turned back to confirm the prescription with the nurse, but there was no one at the window.

Su Mian paused for a second.

The nurse was just here a moment ago.

Something's not right, something's not quite right.

She looked up toward the service counter, where the lights were flickering.

Qiao Yinuo was still sitting on the bench with her head down, but her hands were no longer resting on her knees; they were hanging straight down.

My fingertips started to feel cold.

She took a step back, preparing to go back to find Qiao Yinuo.

She quickened her pace back to the waiting area, only to find the chairs empty.

Qiao Yinuo has disappeared.

He instantly snapped awake, his breath quickening: "Qiao Yinuo?"

no respond.

The entire floor seemed deserted, the empty sound echoing several times.

She ran forward, searching all the way, when suddenly someone tapped her on the shoulder.

Su Mian turned around abruptly, and Qiao Yinuo's face was still pale.

"What are you yelling for? I'm just going to throw out the trash."

"It sounded like a ghost screaming in the middle of the night."

……

Good, she still has time to bicker with her, which means she's not seriously injured, but Su Mian still feels something is off, so she pulls Qiao Yinuo along.

"Let's go back to school quickly."

As she spoke, she walked quickly toward the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor.

The elevator was heated, and as the doors slowly closed, a warm breeze washed over my face.

The sense of distortion gradually diminished, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She casually glanced towards the door, but was suddenly stunned.

There was another person sitting on a bench in the distance, with her head down, Qiao Yinuo.

She broke out in a cold sweat instantly, and when she turned around, she realized that she was the only one in the elevator, so she frantically pressed the door open button.

"Qiao Yinuo!"
