"We were all packing our luggage, and we were going to meet in the city of Ma, but we waited for a long time and she didn't show up, so we said we were going to go to the convent to check on her."

"A passing nun said... she had offended Miss Anna and was... killed by a soldier with a single sword."

"Adrian."

Su Mian called his name again, bringing Adrian back to his senses.

"What I said before I left."

Beneath the calm statement lay a sharp questioning that was about to break through the ice.

Bruce tried to step forward and explain: "Evening, everyone was exhausted at the time, so we weren't thinking about clues or anything—"

"Did I ask you?" Su Mian glanced over, and Bruce immediately fell silent.

Her gaze returned to Adrian's face as she approached him step by step until they were close enough to feel each other's suppressed breaths.

"I told you, no matter what, you must protect her."

Suppressed sobs rose from the crowd; it was unclear who was weeping for Sera. But such was the cruel reality of this infinite flow world—no protection, no power.

Perhaps even if it were a sleeping place, it would still die there. Fate is hard to defy, so who can one blame?

Su Mian closed her eyes briefly, and when she opened them again, the surging emotions had been forcibly suppressed.

"Where's the body?" she asked.

"...couldn't bring it back," Taylor answered in a low voice. "It was dragged away by the 'Scavengers,' probably...on the banks of the Mill River."

Without the slightest hesitation, Su Mian immediately turned to the servant beside her and said, "Prepare the horses."

"Yes."

Bruce's eyes widened. "Evening, you're going back..."

Su Mian nodded, her lips slightly parted, and only upon close inspection could one see that they were trembling.

"I want to see her."

"Forget it... Maybe... it's already been cleared out by DM."

Taylor finally shut up after someone glared at her with a sharp look. Ignoring everyone else, Su Mian turned and got into the carriage. Just as she was about to lower the curtain, Adrian suddenly spoke up.

"Ephing." He stepped forward, his eyes filled with deep remorse. "I'm sorry."

Su Mian lowered her eyelids, drew the curtains, and did not respond.

As the carriage receded further and further from view, another group of people suddenly gathered.

"Since we're still alive, let's solve the case together. There aren't many days left before the game ends."

Duncan approached with a fist and palm salute clasped, followed by a group of city-state players.

Adrian took two steps back, his eyes wary, and Bruce and the others' eyes instantly turned hostile.

"Don't think we don't know that the quarantine was your doing."

"So what?"

Duncan shrugged nonchalantly, his smile smug. "Without Evelyn, what ability do you have? You can't even protect a woman, let alone survive in a city-state."

Adrian clenched his fists, his brow furrowed.

Tiffany emerged carrying a bunch of herbs, her smile endearing.

"Don't say that, Adrian. Your father has helped you a lot. Could you ask him to give us more clues?"

The air fell silent for a moment, the two forces locked in a stalemate. Adrian was in turmoil, the girl's disappointed gaze still echoing in his mind.

In the end, he only said in a low, hoarse voice, "I'm going back to my father's laboratory."

"That's more like it~ Finding the real culprit is our common goal. So, players of Mill Ferry, how about a pleasant collaboration?"

Tiffany reached out her hand, smiling and tilting her head.

Adrian gave her a cold look, brushed past her, and left the church, followed by a group of people.

Her hand was still hanging in mid-air, and her expression was slightly cracked.

Just as the city-state players were preparing to leave, a voice simultaneously appeared in everyone's minds.

The decision came too suddenly, so Su Mian didn't consider the time factor, and it was already almost dusk when she left the city center.

The pain had subsided considerably. There was no other way but to accept it. She disliked internal conflict. If she could see Sera's body, it would put her temporary knot in her heart at ease.

She didn't know when Cain got into her car, and when she suddenly came to her senses, he was already looking at her with his chin resting on his hand.

"Would you like me to read you from the Bible to make you feel less upset?"

Su Mian chuckled and muttered something else, "Forget it, you can't even remember the words, yet you still want to recite them."

Cain didn't look away, but smiled. "How did you find out?"

"I stole your parchment; I wrote cheat sheets on it."

When he was exposed, he wasn't ashamed at all. Instead, he leaned closer to Su Mian, lifted the girl's chin, and forced her to distract herself.

"Yes... I've hinted so obviously, Evelyn."

Su Mian stared blankly at him, and then a strange scene appeared before her eyes at an inopportune moment. Suddenly, as if possessed, she spoke.

"You're a demon too, aren't you?"

After saying that, the man finally broke into a huge smile, pulled the girl into his arms, and whispered softly in her ear, "So clever, my kind."

He doesn't remember the Bible, lacks the compassion a priest should have, and can still let people see illusions.

Why did Cain save Evelyn in the first place? It wasn't because he was a priest, but because beneath that priestly facade, he saw another exiled being.

He raised a little oddball by hand, playing the role of a kind and approachable "guide".

Actually, when I see her disgusted expression when praising God, her back aching from helping the elderly, and her occasional mischievous pranks, I always let out a bored chuckle.

His little devil is different from him; his body, nourished by evil thoughts, retains a touch of warmth, feeding on all negative emotions yet never being greedy.

When he first saw the role, he felt that Su Mian was perfect for it, as if it were tailor-made for her.

A cold and proud yet righteous and brave little cat, unable to fit into the world, yet standing at the top of the world.

But now, his kitten is sad.

"Would you like to see what I really look like?"

"What?"

Su Mian paused for a moment, then suddenly realized that Cain was describing his demonic appearance. Although she didn't understand why, she nodded curiously.

In an instant, Su Mian's pupils were illuminated by crimson light. She saw his hair turn from white to red, and the mask was all too familiar.

It is the hour of Si (9-11 AM).

Su Mian's mouth was agape, her heart filled with a mix of emotions. A strange palpitation, a feeling of reunion, made her heart pound violently as she looked at him.

A gentle breeze blew by, lifting the gauze curtain of the carriage and revealing the bright and tranquil moonlight.

"I know that the stubborn detective doesn't like to cry in front of strangers."

He patted her back gently and pulled her into his arms. "But we've already played three games together."

He pressed the mouth part of the mask against the girl's head and whispered something.

"Mianmian."

"I'm not a stranger to you anymore."

"If you want to cry, then cry."
