America 1869: A Doppelganger Every Day

Chapter 30, Part 6: Using a borrowed knife to kill, achieving complete control.

Soon after The Irish newspaper appeared, a host of similar reports emerged.

Because the arrival of Chinese people did cause many white people to lose their jobs, there were more and more reports about Chinese people taking over California.

A wave of anti-Chinese sentiment has begun to brew.

In the Irish community, an Irish man named Donald, who had recently crossed paths with me and the Irish people, came out.

He stood on a tall wooden barrel.

"My people."

"We came to America from Ireland to have a better life."

"But after we got to America, we had a hard time even finding a job."

"I had to move from the east to the west."

"But even after arriving here, I still can't find a job."

"If things continue like this, we'll never have a good life."

"If we want to live well, want to eat steak and drink red wine every day, want to live comfortably, and want to become rich, we can't continue like this."

"That guy named Irving is right."

"The root cause of our unemployment is the arrival of the Chinese."

"These Chinese guys stole the jobs that were rightfully ours."

"We must take the jobs back."

"Get rid of these nasty Chinamen."

"However, as you know, it's not so easy to drive them away, so before we do that, we need to solve our own survival problem."

"I never want to live like this again. In order to survive and live well, I propose that the Irish people in the eastern part of our school form a gang of our own."

"Today we will establish our own West Ireland gang."

"Since these Chinese are taking our jobs, then we'll collect protection money from them."

"They don't just want to collect protection money from Chinese people, they also want to collect protection money from other people."

"Once we earn enough money, we can buy weapons and equipment and live a good life."

"Once our gang grows strong, even the police will have to avoid us."

"With your arrival, we will become a significant force in San Francisco, and even throughout California."

"Anyone willing to join my West Ireland gang is welcome, but those who are not are free to leave."

Two Irishmen in the crowd stood up the moment the other person finished speaking.

"I agree to join. I think we need to bring people together and unite, otherwise we'll just have to wait to starve to death."

"I'd also like to join. I've heard that Irish gangs in the east control half the city's streets, and their members can make tens or hundreds of dollars a month just by collecting protection money."

Two people started, and others followed suit, expressing their desire to join.

After all, they had heard about how the Irish gangs in the East were making money. No one had established a gang in San Francisco yet, and if they were the first to do so, they would definitely make a fortune.

The thought of still being able to collect protection money from the Chinese made them incredibly happy.

Of the hundreds of Irish people gathered together, only a few dozen were members of any gang.

After everyone had made their decisions, Donald asked those who did not wish to join to leave, and then addressed the others.

"The two people who were the first to agree to join the gang will be the vice leaders of my New Ireland Gang from now on."

"The other members are currently ordinary members. Depending on your performance, those who perform well may be promoted to captain, or even hall master. It's not impossible for you to become the vice leader."

"Our gang's mission is to ensure that everyone can live a good life and have money to spend."

"Let's set off now. I and the two deputy leaders will each lead a team to collect protection money from the Chinese shop."

A group of Irishmen, their eyes gleaming with excitement.

They roared and began heading towards the area where the Chinese people were gathered.

He was holding all sorts of weapons, including several guns.

When the shop owners in Huaxia saw this group of fierce-looking men coming to collect protection money, they didn't dare to refuse.

In just one day, they received tens of thousands of dollars in protection money.

Donald did not distribute the money to them, but instead spoke to them.

"We're not strong enough right now, so we need to strengthen ourselves first. I'll use this money to buy weapons and arm ourselves. Once we're stronger, we can collect more protection fees, and I'll give everyone a reward at the end of the month."

The Irish people didn't seem to have any strong feelings about it; after all, this kind of thing is quite normal.

The next day, he bought over a hundred handguns.

After acquiring weapons, he led his men to continue collecting protection money.

Yesterday he only collected from some small vendors; today he's preparing to tackle a bigger target.

Especially in places like casinos, opium dens, and newly opened factories.

These places are very lucrative.

As long as they can consistently collect protection money, the Irish gang will grow rapidly.

However, when they arrived at the Chinese community, they found a group of heavy smokers blocking their way.

The group of people at the head were dressed in suits and ties.

These men were the owners of Chinese-owned opium dens and casinos.

To be precise, they were the group of Chinese who were unwilling to associate with Li Changsheng.

Of course, Li Changsheng didn't want them either, because these people were either murderers or opium addicts; none of them were good people.

Donald already knew that they had gathered together yesterday.

He knew they were there today to discuss a collaboration with him.

But he didn't give them a chance. Seeing these people gathered together, he pulled out his gun and shot the Chinese leader dead.

"These people are trying to lay a hand on them, kill them!"

And so, a massacre began.

Faced with over 100 guns, the opposing 20-odd people had no chance to react and were all killed.

After killing his opponent, Donald stepped forward.

"Since I killed someone, I must bear the consequences."

"When the police arrive, I will turn myself in. Anyone among you who wants to stay, step forward with me. The rest of you will follow the instructions of the two vice-leaders. From now on, the New Ireland Gang will be jointly managed by the two vice-leaders."

"When I come out, if you acknowledge me as your leader, I will return; if not, I will leave."

But what I want to say is...

"If we Irish gangs want to gain a foothold, we have to be ruthless."

"We want everyone in San Francisco, everyone in California, to know that the Irish gang is not to be messed with."

After he finished speaking, he closed his eyes and switched back to his clone.

While the clone was still feeling helpless, Li Changsheng on the other side opened his eyes and smiled.

"Once I get rid of these people, I'll have the entire Chinese community under my control."

"Next, we will carry out the plan to rise up as clones based on our memories."
