The Ancestral Legacy Begins in the Wild West
Chapter 8 How did I know? Because I was fucking in his car.
Guangzhou has always been a place with an extremely vibrant nightlife. The streets are lined with food stalls, which become especially lively at night.
In towns and villages where there are few nighttime entertainment venues, many people who stay up late are not playing games, but, like Zhang Chang'an, quietly working hard.
The case that Su Hao and his team were investigating had just made progress. The forensic department detected the killer's flesh tissue in the victim's fingernails.
And now, the comparison results are in.
Before Su Hao joined the criminal investigation department, he knew that although it was a small place, he might still witness a lot of messy things. Now that he has actually encountered it, the impact on him is still quite significant.
The murderer, Wang Jiafeng, was thirty years old. He had been pursuing a woman for many years before finally winning her over. He spent a large dowry on their marriage, but she continued to have affairs after the wedding.
Finally, his wife, who was pregnant, secretly brought someone home again, which drove him completely insane.
The man whose throat was slit was the one who had an affair with his wife, who was the one whose abdomen was disemboweled, resulting in the deaths of both him and his unborn child.
As for the third victim, he was unrelated to the first two, but he was also an extra from out of town and looked somewhat like his wife, so he killed him as well.
The methods were all the same: first, drive the body to the outskirts of the city, then kill the person and dispose of the body.
Su Hao flipped back to the page with the personal file and pressed his temples: "He's a taxi driver... I hope he hasn't started his escape yet."
………………
"No way..." Zhang Chang'an recalled some content he had seen in the family genealogy.
At the end of the 19th century, the world was undergoing complex and multifaceted developments. It wasn't just the West, with its gold rush, that shone brightly; Britain, in the later stages of the Industrial Revolution, also experienced a period of great prosperity.
Yongren, also a 75th generation descendant, was chivalrous by nature. He had never practiced martial arts but was fond of fighting. After killing a wealthy man's spoiled son, he fled to England with his fellow villagers.
This man was no pushover either. Unlike his fellow townsmen who worked as sailors and cooks, he mingled on the streets of London and later gained considerable fame.
His legendary story began when he escaped from a coachman serial killer and led to the latter's capture.
"If this is what a synchronized experience is, then this driver... I wonder why this driver is driving an empty car and waiting at the door in the middle of the night."
They weren't waiting for me to come out and get a car; they were probably planning to go in and hide the murder weapon, or find an old one.
Zhang Chang'an calmed himself down, turned on his phone, and confirmed his current location.
Sure enough, the driver was taking a detour, heading towards a more remote area.
Fortunately, China's infrastructure is invincible, so the signal won't be lost easily. He immediately sent his location and other information to Su Hao all at once.
"Haozi! Could that murderer you're arresting be a taxi driver?!"
Su Hao and his team were just about to start their investigation based on the information when they were suddenly dumbfounded to see a flood of pop-up messages.
"No, how did you know?"
He had just replied with that sentence when he saw Zhang Chang'an send him location information and other details.
"I'm fucking in his car right now!"
Just as Zhang Chang'an finished sending the message, he suddenly heard the sharp sound of brakes: "Screech—"
He quickly raised his hand to press down on the seat and the car door to steady himself.
Ahead, Wang Jiafeng, whether he had arrived at the destination or discovered something, was accelerating while simultaneously jerking the steering wheel.
While drifting and throwing the car off balance, he also pulled down the seat adjustment lever and leaned back sharply.
Zhang Chang'an, who was sitting in the back seat without a seatbelt, was thrown against the car door by inertia. Just as he was about to react, he saw the seat in front of him slam backward.
Although he was being jostled around so much that he was completely disoriented, he managed to reach out and press down on the seat that was leaning back.
"Damn!" The force coming from behind the seat was clearly far beyond Wang Jiafeng's expectations.
But he didn't stop. After maneuvering the car to sprint and drift in another direction, he immediately pulled out a sharp kitchen knife from the storage compartment and stabbed it behind him.
There were no streetlights in this section, but the gleaming blades were still very conspicuous.
The car's inertia shifted direction, but Zhang Chang'an, with his back against the seat and his legs braced against the front, remained perfectly stable.
At that moment, the dagger was thrust towards him.
But with a "snap!" Zhang Chang'an instead pressed down hard on Wang Jiafeng's wrist, his fingers curling, and he slammed it shut: "Hmph!"
Hung Kuen, Tiger and Crane Dual Forms, is derived from the Five Forms Hung Kuen, which consists of five symbolic forms. The Tiger Form is mainly used for grappling and has as many as eleven main hand shapes, including the Crouching Tiger Claw.
"Ah!!" The immense force from his wrist made Wang Jiafeng grimace in pain.
Zhang Chang'an remained calm and watched the light and shadow flicker before him.
He felt as if he were back in that carriage, with the coachman in the driver's seat, wielding a single-handed farming sickle, slashing at him.
Just as the genealogy says, the actions of both sides are exactly the same. He holds on with one hand, and with the other hand, he pinches the hand shape and presses it firmly against the hand of the person in front of him.
Because the commotion behind them was so intense, the entire carriage lurched wildly across the empty street.
"Fuck!" The familiar national quintessence suddenly took on a British flair. The coachman turned halfway around, his hand, which was being held down tightly, violently swung left and right.
"Thud!" The sharp blade sliced through the seat behind, creating a large gash in the blink of an eye.
But Zhang Chang'an was still unharmed. After these days of physical training, his strength had long since become extraordinary.
Instead, he held down the man's hand and waited until he had slashed a few times and was temporarily exhausted before reaching out to grab the inside of his wrist, pressing down and twisting it.
"Click-clack..."
"what!"
The agonizing screams carried far and wide. The joint of his arm was twisted so badly that he lost sensation in most of his body for a short time.
However, Zhang Chang'an showed no intention of following up with an attack. Instead, he released his hand and grabbed the weapon that had fallen from the man's grasp.
With a flash of light and shadow, his perspective returned to the modern world once again.
Just before the camera returned to the scene, the straps on the horses in front of the carriage broke.
The horse immediately galloped away. But at the same time, the carriage did not stop, and more importantly, there was a thick lamppost just a few meters ahead.
The situation was exactly the same on the modern side; the car had gone out of control and was hurtling straight toward the roadside. There was a very thick tree there.
"Crack!" The crisp sound of shattering glass rang out.
Then came the deafening sound of a car crashing.
The sound of tree trunks cracking mingled with the sound of the car's front end denting, the car's metal sheeting twisted and dented, and broken glass scattered all over the road.
The car's crash alarm blared far and wide, accompanied by an incessant buzzing in his ears, making Zhang Chang'an somewhat dizzy.
"Damn... I'm really fed up. I was just trying to splurge once in a while and this happened." Zhang Chang'an got up from the ground and shook off his tattered clothes, which were covered in broken glass.
Surprisingly, he himself was not seriously injured.
He still held the knife in his hand; it was with it that he had smashed the car window and jumped out at the last moment.
Although he rummaged through the fields by the roadside and got cut by broken glass, thanks to his improved physique and the rolling and deflection techniques that martial arts practitioners are required to learn, he was at least not seriously injured.
Most importantly, he wasn't impacted by the car and didn't get dizzy or disoriented.
Zhang Chang'an walked to the car and ripped open the badly damaged door.
Because there were airbags in the front row, Wang Jiafeng didn't die on the spot, and was even still somewhat conscious.
He couldn't stand up at all, and as soon as the car door opened, he fell right out of the car.
Zhang Chang'an acted decisively, grabbing his shoulder and helping him up. He landed in a horse stance, steady and methodical, then clenched his fist and slammed it down hard.
"Bang!"
………………
Not long after, a police car with its flashing lights arrived at this remote section of the road, only to find that the taxi they had just been chasing was almost completely wrecked.
Zhang Chang'an sat calmly by the roadside.
The perpetrator, Wang Jiafeng, was seriously injured and completely unconscious. For some reason, his most serious injuries were concentrated on his face, which should have been protected by airbags.
Zhang Chang'an flicked away the cigarette butt from his hand and calmly stated, "The cigarette and lighter were on him, but I don't think he'll hold me responsible for this."
Zhang Chang'an has never liked smoking or drinking, but tonight he's really gone too far and needs to rein himself in.
