Eugene's stats were pretty much what Lin Wei had imagined, with his synergy attributes being the standard race + class.

A 95% "Affection Value" means that Lin Wei can both protect him and pull him into the [Squad Planner].

The "Knight" synergy is similar to the "Priest" synergy. Lin Wei's buff provides a fixed damage reduction effect; a level 1 "Knight" synergy reduces damage from all types by 30 points.

The number may seem low, but it is not.

Because the 'Knight's' damage reduction is calculated separately based on the number of attacks, the true strength of the 'Knight's' blessing is only revealed when facing multi-hit damage, such as groups of arrows and small groups of magic missiles.

The final "Assault Shooter" is Eugene's most powerful synergy attribute.

Lin Wei's blessing can inflict true additional damage on the ranged attacks of the "Assault Archers".

However, like the "Holy Judgment Warrior" bond, the minimum unlock level is 2.

After leading Eugene into the house, Lin Wei didn't waste a second and went straight to the point.

"What did you say—? The people of Lyca Town were killed by Bapf and his men?"

Eugene's first reaction was nothing but shock.

He jumped up from the chair, causing the swords at his waist to clash together.

But Lin Wei just watched him quietly.

Lin Wei's extremely calm gaze aroused a certain panic in Eugene.

"This is... Nado's intelligence? But why, why would he do this to me at a time like this..." Eugene was extremely troubled again, pacing anxiously in place.

A hint of disappointment appeared deep in Lin Wei's eyes.

Only at this moment did he fully realize that there had indeed been intense conflict and opposition between Eugene and Nado in the past.

This contradiction and opposition never disappeared from beginning to end; it was only gradually buried deep with the appearance of this chosen one of God.

"Don't you feel any grief or regret for the deaths of the people of Leica Town?" Lin Wei's voice began to turn cold.

Eugene froze for a moment.

He seemed to have suddenly figured out two things.

First, Lin Wei is never one to speak carelessly.

Secondly, Lin Wei genuinely cared about the common people at the bottom of the kingdom, even though he had never interacted with the people of Lyca Town.

"Snap—"

With a heavy thud, Eugene slapped himself hard across the face.

Lin Wei was completely taken aback by his actions and instinctively stood up from his chair, extending his hand towards him.

Eugene's eyes held a moving determination as he gave Lin Wei a guilty smile.

Then, he took the longbow from his back, his expression turning fierce, like a tiger completely enraged, and the killing intent in his voice instantly surged:

"I'm going back now to personally shoot these ten bastards..."

"Father."

Lin Wei used this name, which he rarely used in his daily life.

Eugene stopped turning around.

"I hope you understand that in this matter, the trial is far more important than the murder."

……

King Nado considered this matter more deeply than Eugene.

The first thing he did after he calmed down completely was to talk to Lin Wei about the past.

Years ago, during the Leica Incident, Nado, as the newly enthroned king, almost stood against the entire country.

The only ones willing to publicly support him were Green and the Holy Church he represented.

Eugene was chosen by a large number of nobles to directly protest against their king.

Although Eugene is far inferior to Nado in terms of political and administrative abilities, Eugene also has his own unique advantages.

He is a prince who grew up in the military and possesses the most outstanding military talent in the history of the Kreddy royal family.

The most important factor in the succession to the throne of the Kingdom of Wallis, a formidable enemy of the Kingdom of Hosman, is military command ability.

For this reason, they could even tolerate a brutal competition for succession among the princes, with only the final winner able to bear the weight of the crown.

Wallis's centuries-long history of military weakness has led to a deep-seated desire within the kingdom for a ruthless king who can lead Wallis out of its weakness.

Eugene was the perfect embodiment of this desire during that period.

Papf and others were Eugene's closest confidants, so Eugene had no choice but to take responsibility for the incident in Laika.

But to Lin Wei's surprise, Nado said the following:

"There are some misunderstandings between me and Eugene."

"But he has always been the elder brother I respect and trust the most."

"My brother would never instruct his subordinates to harm innocent civilians."

"The root of Papf and the others' sins lies within myself..."

These words moved Lin Wei deeply.

He later learned that Nado had actually noticed some unusual things about Bapf and the others long ago.

For example, over the years, Bapf has been working to bring together the original squad members, rather than letting them shine as "heroes" in various units.

Meanwhile, Bapf made many acquaintances with high-level spellcasters and gradually sent his personal assets and relatives to the neutral neighboring country of Rino.

The Kingdom of Lino is recognized as the land of mages in the eastern part of the continent, where the system for training spellcasters is the most scientific and mature.

On the surface, Papf has concocted a fairly reasonable motive for himself—because he admires magic, he wants to raise his offspring to be spellcasters.

However, Nado still keenly found a suspicious point: of his two sons, only the eldest son barely possessed the qualifications of a spellcaster, while the second son showed no spellcasting ability at all in the aptitude test results.

As a nationally appointed hero, his second son could have enjoyed considerable training resources along the way in Wallis, honing his martial arts skills to become a respected knight.

But he insisted on going in the opposite direction, which is really incomprehensible.

Out of respect for his brother Eugene, Nado did not investigate the matter further, but kept it to himself until Lin Wei brought him the truth.

……

"Lin Wei, are you really going to come with me to capture Bapf and the others...?"

This is the fifth time Eugene has advised someone to quit tonight.

"Why can't I go? Didn't you say he couldn't possibly cause any trouble?"

"That's true, but what if something unexpected happens on the way..."

"Have you forgotten who I am?"

"Of course I'll never forget that, but this is your first time riding a Giant Wind Eagle, isn't it..."

"Is the Giant Wind Eagle hard to ride? Fine, then I'll show you a little bit of my strength."
