Chapter 49 Red Rain Castle, Eller
Hills City, an Edgewater space node, codenamed "Red Rain Castle".
This place stands a castle built of granite and sandstone, surrounded by sentry posts and equipped with powerful crossbows and various cold weapons. It is a genuine medieval fortress.
No one knows when this building was constructed or by whom it was built in this illusory subspace.
However, given that Amerigo Vespucci does not have a long and rich history, buildings of this style were obviously not built for reasons such as "defending against foreign enemies" or "protecting sacred objects," but more likely to satisfy the ephemeral vanity of the "upper class."
At least Lord Eller Stewart thought so.
This 232-year-old half-blood, when he was young, a wave of "overthrowing the monarchy" arose in his hometown. His entire half-blood family was blasted through the wall by a short artilleryman wearing a tricorn hat and neatly sent to the guillotine. Young Eller was forced to flee to Amerigo.
Unexpectedly, upon arriving in this undeveloped land, they found that the people of bloodline were also highly prejudiced against them.
At that time, Abel the Honest, Amerigo’s most legendary vampire hunter, had a series of conflicts with him, forcing Ayler to flee for years throughout Amerigo.
Fortunately, as a half-blood, even though Eller's abilities are lacking, his endurance and longevity far surpass those of ordinary people.
As he grew older, upon learning that his arch-nemesis Abel had passed away due to old age, the no-longer-young Eller found himself somewhat nostalgic for the days when Abel had hunted him.
He decided to do something to remember Abel, his former "best friend," during his long, almost immortal but uninteresting life.
Should we start by proving him wrong?
That's it!
Eller took the initiative to approach the then-Grand Commander of Amerigo, revealing his bloodline identity and offering his family's blood magic as a pledge of loyalty, hoping to obtain a position and continue the story of the Stuart family.
He succeeded.
While Amerigo openly disliked bloodlines, the upper echelons were secretly quite willing to cooperate with these ancient beings.
They allocated the "Dark Side," a fortress in the warp, to Eller as his territory.
At first, Amerigo valued this half-blood quite a bit, often sending people to consult him on blood magic or to draw blood samples for experiments.
But soon they discovered that Eller's magical abilities were not that advanced.
Clearly, Eller, who fled in haste back then, didn't have time to inherit the family fortune or the magical loops passed down through generations of the Stuart family. In terms of Amerigo's psionic abilities, he could only barely reach C-rank.
The people of Amerigo were also surprised that the Eller Magic Circuit was so poor, given that the Eller family had been a bloodline for nearly a hundred generations.
What's even more surprising is that, as a half-blood, the potential for research and development of its blood is surprisingly low.
Amerigo gradually distanced himself from this half-blood, ceasing all contact with him and unceremoniously ordering Eller to cover the maintenance costs of the warp node himself.
Otherwise, they would revoke his title as lord of the castle and leave him to wander the streets.
Left with no other choice, Eller had to resort to the Stuart family's old craft:
Blood wine.
Perhaps Eller wasn't very proficient in his family's magic, otherwise he wouldn't have possessed an immortal body yet been chased by a mere mortal like "Honest Abel".
But when it comes to brewing blood wine, Eller is perhaps the most talented person in the history of the Stewart family.
From selecting and breeding human-fed animals, to optimizing the blood quality of human-fed animals through nutrition, and then to the later fermentation, aging, and blending processes, these brewing procedures seem to be ingrained in his bones, and he can do them with ease.
When powerful and influential people in Amerigo Vespucci get old and feel that younger people are about to overthrow them and take their place, they like to come to certain warp nodes to seek supernatural powers and maintain their control over things.
The more you hold onto something, the less willing you are to let go; this is true even for high-ranking officials and nobles.
The power they pursue can be extraordinary psychic energy, forbidden witchcraft, elixirs from the mysterious East, or of course, a cup of "blood wine" that can prolong life and restore youth.
The subspace node of "Red Rain Castle" gradually transformed into a place where the upper class would savor the feast of blood wine.
Eller was pleased that he had not buried his family's heritage, even if it wasn't a magical one.
With Blood Brew selling well among the elites, Eller need not worry that as the lord of this place, he cannot afford to maintain this warp node.
He became a wealthy man, a true aristocrat of bloodline.
But as a half-blood, he did not, like ordinary blood descendants, quietly enjoy immortality and be without desires after achieving success.
His heart remained as passionate as a human's; he was not content with simply lying on a mountain of money and enjoying his life, but instead worked day and night to improve the blood wine.
In modern times, he took the initiative to study the extraction process of "adrenaline red" and found that although the methods were different, the essence was the same.
It's just about raising people in captivity, conditioning them, extracting their bodily fluids, and then processing them later!
He quickly mastered the craft and promoted his new invention to his "old customers," making the name of the "Stuart family of Red Rain Fortress" great and famous again in wealthy circles.
Eller was quite content with his current situation. Apart from occasionally missing Abel, he had almost no complaints about life.
Tonight, another banquet is being held.
With pale skin and slightly red pupils, Eller sat on the castle lord's seat under the parasol, watching the group of cheerful "handsome men and quiet women," feeling extremely happy.
"Abel, oh Abel, if only you could see this..."
He raised his glass to the crowd, eliciting cheers. He then drank a mouthful of the bright red liquid in his glass and muttered to himself, "I told you long ago, I'm a good bloodline that can bring joy to humans. Why did they chase after me and try to kill me back then..."
"Squeak squeak squeak..."
A slight commotion caught the attention of the Bloodline Lord.
Ailer looked down towards the source of the sound.
A little mouse dressed in a suit is standing upright on its hind legs, like a human standing at his feet.
"Oh, what a cute little guy!"
Eller was delighted and put the wine glass aside, then bent down and let the mouse crawl onto his pale palm.
"Where did you come from? In one of your guests' pockets? Although it's clearly stated here that pets are prohibited..."
He stretched out his long, slender fingers and gently teased the mouse's whiskers, a smile playing on his lips. "But who could resist a cutie like you in a suit?"
In his eyes, this neat, clean mouse, dressed in a little suit, must have been a pet brought in by some guest, and certainly not something that crawled out from a crack in his fortress.
Where would a rat hole come from in the subspace?
But the little mouse didn't seem to appreciate it; instead, it raised its front paws and pried the fingers apart.
"Quite a temper, huh? Hehe, what a cute little creature..."
Eller wasn't annoyed and continued to tease him with a smile.
Suddenly, the Bloodline Lord's eyes narrowed.
A glint of green light suddenly flashed in the mouse's eyes.
"King Squich requests your presence..."
A clear thought entered Ailer's mind.
