Chapter 2 Alphia, See You Tomorrow
Amidst his chaotic thoughts, Fen Yu had already reached the edge of the village, where the little wooden house that belonged to him and Alphia was in the distance.
However, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, his body tensing instantly.
Because a figure that shouldn't have been there appeared at his doorstep.
He was a young man with neat short black hair and a striking white highlight hanging down his forehead.
His appearance was so handsome it was almost unreal; his features seemed to have been meticulously sculpted by the greatest sculptor, without a single flaw.
He wore a well-tailored black trench coat, stood tall and straight, and stood there quietly, as if he were the center of the world.
They were not ordinary people, but gods.
Fen Yu's heart sank.
Although the gods in the lower realms may seal their divine powers and live as mortals, their innate divinity and their sense of existence that transcends all things can never be completely concealed.
That wasn't oppression by power, but a difference in the level of life, which ordinary people could clearly distinguish at a glance.
An ominous premonition gripped his heart.
He saw that Uncle Chardo was also standing to the side. He was not dressed in his usual casual clothes, but in a heavy black armor. The greatsword that he always polished was now heavily slung over his back.
The door to the cabin was pushed open, and Alphia came out.
She was still wearing that familiar black gothic dress, her face still expressionless, as aloof as ever.
The three people standing together formed a picture of someone about to embark on a long journey.
"Are you leaving, Alphia?"
Fen Yu walked over, her voice soft yet exceptionally clear.
He didn't ask "Where are you going?" or "Why?", he simply stated a fact that he had already witnessed.
Upon hearing his voice, the black-haired god, Erebus, turned around.
His gaze lingered on Fen Yu for a moment, with a hint of scrutiny, before he glanced at the expressionless Alphia, a smile of interest playing on his lips: "Oh? This is the child you mentioned? Indeed very interesting, and his talent is quite astonishing. What a pity."
A hint of regret flashed in Erebus's eyes.
As a god, he can see things that mortals cannot.
The boy in front of me is far more mature than his peers, with a keen insight like a cheetah. What is even more remarkable is his resilience and character, which allowed him to survive eight years of "silence".
This child was born to live in a blood-and-fire underground city, not in this remote village.
Unfortunately, they ran out of time.
There was no time to explore the secret behind his inability to accept the favor, nor the energy to plan for his future.
They have a more important, and darker, mission to accomplish.
"Leave here and live in a big city."
Alphia finally spoke. She didn't look at Fenyu, but instead took out a heavy cloth bag and casually tossed it over. "This place isn't suitable for you."
Her voice was as beautiful as ever, and as cold as ever.
Fen Yu instinctively caught the bag. It was extremely heavy, and a crisp metallic sound came from inside. It contained Fali, and there was definitely a lot of it.
He gripped the bag tightly, standing silently without uttering a word.
"Let's go."
Alphia left those words behind and, without looking at him again, turned and walked towards the edge of the village.
Her retreating figure was resolute, showing no trace of lingering affection.
"Live well, kid."
Chardo stepped forward, his large, calloused hand, with a gentle touch that belied his rugged appearance, patted Fenyu on the shoulder.
He then turned and followed Alphia.
Erebus was the last one.
He walked up to Fen Yu, bent down, and his deep eyes seemed to see right through people's hearts.
He smiled and said, "Little guy, if you're not satisfied, then do your best to become an adventurer."
After saying that, he turned and left, his black trench coat billowing in the wind in a dashing arc.
The three figures gradually disappeared into the distance, about to vanish at the end of the road.
Fen Yu remained silent, like a stone statue.
But just as they were about to disappear from sight completely.
"Alphia!"
He shouted the name with all his might.
The slender figure at the very front stopped in her tracks.
She didn't turn around, but stood quietly, as if waiting for him to continue.
As Fen Yu watched her retreating figure, the sadness and confusion on his face vanished.
He grinned, revealing a bright smile.
"See you tomorrow!"
He said loudly.
Alphia's figure stiffened almost imperceptibly, but she ultimately neither turned around nor answered.
After a brief pause, she continued walking and, together with the other two, disappeared into the horizon.
Far from the village, we embarked on the desolate ancient northern road, and the silent journey felt somewhat oppressive.
Chardo, carrying his greatsword, glanced back at the village, whose outline was now obscured, and suddenly chuckled, breaking the silence: "Speaking of which, Alphia, didn't that kid always say he'd marry you when he grew up? Haven't you considered it? I can manage on my own."
As soon as he finished speaking, a chill that could almost freeze one's soul suddenly descended.
Erebus shivered and instinctively took two steps to the side, moving further away from the source of the chill.
Alphia slowly opened her tightly closed eyes.
The left eye is a deep gray, and the right eye is a clear green.
A pair of heterochromatic eyes were staring at Chardo without any emotion as he spoke indifferently:
"If you want to experience death early, I can grant your wish."
"No, no, no, I was just joking, just trying to lighten the mood!"
Chardo immediately raised his hands in a gesture of surrender and chuckled:
"Besides, I quite admire that kid. Just the fact that he dared to say those things to your face and is still alive and kicking shows that he's a man with guts."
"Oh?"
Upon hearing this, Erebus's surprised expression was instantly replaced by intense gossip.
"Someone actually dared to confess their feelings to 'Silence'? And they're still alive? That's truly a miracle! Tell me, what happened?"
"Noisy."
Alphia's two cold and impatient words instantly interrupted their conversation.
Chardo and Erebus immediately shut their mouths.
They all knew that if they continued, the woman would really get angry.
The consequences of a truly enraged "silence" are more terrifying than facing a dragon directly.
The atmosphere fell silent again, with only the sound of their footsteps and the ceaseless howl of the northern wind echoing across the empty plains.
