The Primordial Era: Starting with Jingwei Filling the Sea

Chapter 57, Part 3: The Successor of the Qing Dynasty

No one knew about the conversation between Fang Yang and Grand Master Xuandu, but after this conversation, the two became much closer.

Although the two are from different eras and separated by tens of thousands of generations, from the perspective of the Three Pure Ones, they can still be considered to be of the same generation.

Only after truly getting to know Grand Master Xuandu did Fang Yang realize that Grand Master Xuandu was by no means a copy of the Taiqing Sage.

Grand Master Xuandu was simply a low-key person who disliked the limelight. His talent and aptitude were absolutely top-notch among his peers.

Grand Master Xuandu doesn't need fame to elevate himself; his status and position are already noble enough. As the only direct disciple of the head of the Three Pure Ones, Grand Master Xuandu is an absolute winner in life based on this alone.

Unlike Daoist Duobao, who had to manage the sect and win people's hearts, he was not like Guangchengzi, who had to fight against Daoist Randeng for fear of losing his voice in the sect.

However, the Grand Master Xuandu had his own understanding of the Great Dao; he was not merely echoing the words of the Sage Taiqing.

The Sage Taiqing advocated following the natural way, while the Grand Master Xuandu preferred the idea that "human will can conquer nature." This does not mean challenging the way of heaven with human power, but rather influencing and changing the laws of nature by altering the natural environment.

For example, if the desert is short of water, they can plant trees and dig canals to bring in fresh water, turning the desert into an oasis; if there is a natural disaster, they can build dikes to prevent floods and make medicines to ward off epidemics, so that all living beings can be spared the suffering of displacement; if there is a mountain blocking the way in front of the door, then their descendants will continue to move the mountain away.

Grand Master Xuandu's main characteristic before the Sage Taiqing was his defiance and rebelliousness. The Sage Taiqing greatly favored such a disciple.

The Sage Taiqing hoped that his disciples could break free from his influence. Although the possibility of the Grand Master Xuandu surpassing his master was almost zero, he still had to forge his own path.

"Junior Brother Fang Yang, your senior brother knows your abilities. With your supernatural powers, you can even protect yourself against a rogue Grand Luo cultivator. However, most of the Grand Luo cultivators in the heavens are related to Zixiao Palace and their three masters. If you want to eliminate demons and monsters, you must improve your own cultivation. My Eight Trigrams Palace has countless divine pills and elixirs. If you need any pills, you can go to the Eight Trigrams Palace to find them at any time."

Grand Master Xuandu knew that Fang Yang was a direct descendant of the Three Pure Ones, recognized by the Sage Taiqing. While Fang Yang was nominally only a disciple of the Tongtian Sect Master, in reality, he was a disciple of the Three Pure Ones.

At present, Fang Yang has not yet grasped the mystery, which is why he dares not show any affection to the Sage of Taiqing and the Primordial Heavenly Venerable. However, the Grand Master Xuandu wants to enlighten Fang Yang.

There are very few disciples of the three religions who can be recognized by the Three Pure Ones. He himself is one, Wudang Holy Mother is one, Yunxiao Fairy is one, Antarctic Immortal is one, Yuding True Man is one, Cihang Daoist, Manjushri Guangfa Tianzun and Samantabhadra True Man are also one, and then there are no more.

Those who are recognized by the Three Pure Ones as direct descendants of the Three Pure Ones are the true fellow disciples, and each of them bears the heavy responsibility of the Xuanmen (Taoist sect).

It's quite strange that neither Yuanshi Tianzun nor Tongtian Jiaozhu thinks highly of the other's most valued disciple. Perhaps this is the tacit understanding between brothers!

Master Puxian understood the meaning behind Grand Master Xuandu's words and immediately spoke up: "Indeed, Junior Brother Fangyang. Although my Jade Void Palace does not have as many divine pills and elixirs as the Eight Scenery Palace, my Jade Void Palace possesses the Myriad Laws Golden Chapter compiled by our master, which contains all the laws of the heavens. After this sermon concludes, Junior Brother might as well go to the Jade Void Palace and study the Jade Void Myriad Laws Golden Chapter. Perhaps, it can allow Junior Brother's cultivation to advance even further."

If Fang Yang still couldn't understand the meaning of the words spoken so clearly by the direct descendants of the Renjiao and Chanjiao sects, then he would have lived in vain for all these years. His heart trembled, and his thoughts surged.

Grand Master Xuandu and True Man Puxian were merely disciples of the Human Sect and the Chan Sect, not their leaders. For them to dare speak such words, they must have received permission from their own masters.

From their conversation, Fang Yang realized that he had gained the recognition of the Supreme Purity Saint and the Primordial Heavenly Venerable. He was not only a disciple of the Supreme Purity Saint, but also a disciple of the Supreme Purity Saint and the Jade Purity Saint.

In other words, he has escaped the threat of the Investiture of the Gods!

This was the first time he had realized this; the sword hanging over his head had vanished without him even noticing. He had always regarded the Investiture of the Gods calamity as the greatest tribulation of his cultivation journey.

However, once he truly escaped the threat of the Investiture of the Gods, his mind was suddenly at peace. He felt as if he had broken free of shackles and regained his freedom.

At this moment, the spiritual energy of heaven and earth became sweet and refreshing.

Realizing this, Fang Yang did not show much excitement. He cupped his hands to thank Grand Master Xuandu and True Man Puxian, saying, "Thank you for your kindness, Senior Brother Xuandu and Senior Brother Puxian. I am unworthy of such praise."

Seeing this, Grand Master Xuandu smiled gently and waved his hand, saying:

"Junior brother, there's no need for such modesty. To gain the approval of the three masters is the highest honor for a member of the Sanqing sect. The fact that the three masters trust you and are willing to cultivate you is enough to prove your excellence. As your elder brother, I'm not afraid to speak frankly and tell you that only those members of the Sanqing sect who have gained the approval of the three masters are the true direct descendants of the Sanqing. Just remember, junior brother, that the three teachings of Ren, Chan, and Jie are one family. Don't let other unrelated people harm the harmony of your own family."

These words were tantamount to telling Fang Yang to act boldly. From this moment on, Fang Yang no longer needed to fight alone. As long as Fang Yang worked hard for the future of the three religions of Chan and Jie, he, Puxian Zhenren, and others would be his strongest support.

"That's right. Just because someone cultivates the secret arts of the Three Pure Ones doesn't mean they can become a direct descendant of the Three Pure Ones. Even if someone is the vice leader of one of the three religions, if they have acquired the habits of being covered in fur and horns and being born from wet eggs, they cannot be considered a direct descendant of the Three Pure Ones."

As soon as he finished speaking, a gentle voice came from the side, and Manjushri Bodhisattva's expression was extremely solemn.

"Junior Brother Fang Yang, do you know why the three masters recognized you alone? It's not because you have exceptional talent, nor because you have great supernatural powers, but because you have a pure heart and possess the Dao heart that only the direct descendants of the Three Pure Ones have."

Upon hearing this, Fang Yang felt a chill run down his spine and immediately focused his attention, not daring to slack off in the slightest.

Manjushri Bodhisattva nodded gently and continued, "After the Great Calamity of the Lich King ended, although the three religions originated from three masters, they gradually developed estrangement and even mutual distrust. Many disciples were deeply embroiled in factional disputes and forgot the original intentions of the three masters in establishing their sects. You and I are on the same path, striving for the unity of the three religions. This effort is exactly what the three masters hoped for."

Looking at the four direct disciples of the Three Pure Ones before him, Fang Yang finally understood the whole story. It turned out that the Three Pure Ones would never let their disciples down, as long as they strived for the future of the Three Pure Ones!
