The Primordial Era: Starting with Jingwei Filling the Sea

"We sages, through the development of our wisdom, have created the secrets of Heaven. If we directly expound the principles to all beings, they will fear our existence. Even if they do not agree in their hearts, they will agree in their actions."

"The purpose of education is to expound the Tao among all living beings, perfect the rules of heaven and earth, make heaven and earth more complete, and ultimately lead all living beings to transcend the mortal world and reach the other shore."

"As your master, your eldest uncle, your second uncle, and my two fellow disciples from the West, we sages may have different philosophies, but our ultimate goal is the same."

In the past, the Tongtian Sect Leader would only speak of these matters in front of his four direct disciples. These direct disciples were the ones closest to him and most capable of carrying forward and promoting his teachings.

Now, he is willing to tell Fang Yang these things because Fang Yang's understanding of seizing a sliver of hope is even greater than that of the four direct disciples.

The Taoist Master Duobao's understanding of seizing a glimmer of hope is to give every desperate creature a chance to survive.

The Holy Mother of Golden Spirit believes that seizing a glimmer of hope means knowingly doing the impossible, knowingly venturing into the tiger's den despite knowing there are tigers in the mountains.

The plan of the Holy Mother of Wudang is to create an ideal world that is neither born nor dies, neither increases nor decreases, and to welcome all living beings into it.

The method of the Holy Mother of Tortoise Spirit is rather idealistic. She believes that as long as all living beings can understand each other, the world will be in harmony, and every living being will have a chance to survive.

Fang Yang didn't know what the four disciples meant by "seizing a sliver of hope." Whatever it was, Fang Yang neither supported nor opposed it.

The Grand Master of Heaven asked with great interest, "How do you intend to put the doctrines of our sect into practice?"

This problem stumped Fang Yang, because he had never considered giving all living beings a chance to survive.

He knows his own limitations perfectly well. He hasn't even secured his own survival, so how could he possibly offer a chance for others to live?

Lying in front of a sage is a foolish act, so Fang Yang prepared to reveal his true thoughts.

He first bowed to the Tongtian Sect Leader, and then said:

"Teacher, you are a great sage and a great sage. You possess boundless magical power and the ability to protect all sentient beings in the Three Realms and Six Paths. Your disciple is not capable; I am still under your protection. At this moment, I am powerless to secure a glimmer of hope for all sentient beings."

Upon hearing this, the entire void fell silent.

The smile on the face of the Tongtian Sect Leader disappeared. He was used to disciples who told lies, boasted, and spoke empty words, but this was the first time he had seen such an honest disciple.

The Tongtian Sect Leader knew perfectly well how many of the disciples of the Jie Sect were actually working to save lives for all beings. He did not expect Fang Yang to do so; even he himself might not be able to secure a single chance of survival.

However, Fang Yang's words were too direct, without any attempt to conceal anything.

"Fang Yang is right! I am the true descendant of Pangu, and I have attained a saintly position, revered by all living beings. I have received too many benefits from heaven and earth, and I have both the responsibility and the ability to do this. Fang Yang is merely a human; he cannot even control his own destiny, so how can he possibly seize a glimmer of hope for all living beings?"

In a fleeting moment, the Tongtian Sect Leader thought of many things. However, he did not entirely agree with Fang Yang.

If the force is strong, there are strong interception methods; if the force is weak, there are weak interception methods.

The teachings of the Jie Sect are not about making all beings saints, but about enabling each being to find their own value.

The principle of "education for all" means teaching not only the principles of morality and law, but also the principles of survival and development.

Within the Jie Sect, there were those skilled in economics, those skilled in medicine, those skilled in mechanical arts, those skilled in crafting weapons and alchemy, and those skilled in composing poetry... Every skill mastered by these disciples was closely related to the production and daily life of all living beings.

Being weak is not a reason not to seize opportunities for life for all living beings.

However, the Tongtian Sect Leader did not correct Fang Yang at this time. He believed that if he corrected him directly, Fang Yang would become dependent on him and lose his ability to solve problems on his own.

The Tongtian Cult Leader overestimated Fang Yang; Fang Yang's morality wasn't that high. He might be good at petty tricks, but he probably didn't have the awareness to be a hero or a savior.

Fang Yang's words were indeed true, without any falsehood. But the part that Fang Yang didn't say was exactly what the Tongtian Sect Leader was pondering.

Fang Yang knew perfectly well that seizing a glimmer of hope was not simply rescuing people from dire straits. Seizing a glimmer of hope meant enabling people to live the most fulfilling lives possible.

The value of life lies not in its length, but in how all beings use it.

"Fang Yang, listen to the imperial decree!"

The Tongtian Sect Leader suddenly became solemn, his divine eyes staring directly at Fang Yang.

Fang Yang's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly bowed down, saying, "This disciple receives the decree."

He was filled with trepidation. What if the Tongtian Sect Leader ordered him to preach in the Primordial Continent? What would happen to his cultivation level? A Golden Immortal cultivation level was insufficient, not only in the Primordial Continent but also in any major sect of saints.

"Fang Yang, an outer disciple of the Jie Sect, possesses profound talent and unique insights into the path of education. As the leader of the Jie Sect, I have promoted Fang Yang to the inner sect, making him my fifth personal disciple, and have granted Qingcheng Mountain as my training ground."

The voice of the Tongtian Sect Leader exploded in Fang Yang's ears like thunder, causing him to shudder in disbelief. He did dream of becoming a personal disciple, but he never indulged in wishful thinking.

The status of someone personally taught by a sage is extraordinary; even if they are listed on the Investiture of the Gods, their position is incomparably revered. After being listed, the Golden Spirit Mother became the head of all stars, Doumu Yuanjun.

"Disciple greets Master!"

Fang Yang composed himself, quickly kowtowed, and performed the proper apprenticeship ceremony.

He wouldn't stand on ceremony; when such a tremendous opportunity presented itself, his first reaction was to seize it. The Tongtian Sect Leader wasn't an outsider; he wouldn't be so polite in front of strangers.

That's acceptable, but being polite in front of one's own teacher would be too hypocritical.

Fang Yang's reaction made the Tongtian Sect Leader burst into laughter. He raised his hand and waved, a soft golden light enveloping Fang Yang and gently helping him up.

"Indeed, cultivators must be decisive when faced with opportunities. Now that you are a direct disciple, you can enter Jin'ao Island at any time to ask your master for guidance on cultivation. Your cultivation is still shallow, so I will not bestow upon you an innate spiritual treasure yet, lest it affect your cultivation. I will bestow the innate spiritual treasure upon you once you advance to the Taiyi Golden Immortal realm."

"If you need cultivation resources, you can go directly to the Myriad Manifestations Pavilion and find the rare and precious materials you need for cultivation."

Fang Yang was deeply moved as he listened to the teachings of the Tongtian Sect Leader.

He had long heard that the Tongtian Sect Leader had once collected a Primordial River of Myriad Treasures from the outer world. This river was incredibly mysterious, containing countless resources and treasures.

Daoist Duobao once retrieved three innate spiritual treasures from the Innate Myriad Treasures River, causing a sensation throughout the entire Jie Sect. The Innate Myriad Treasures River was then placed in the Myriad Manifestations Pavilion.

"Your comprehension is quite good. I will first teach you the Seven Swords of Heaven-Slaying, the supreme divine power of our sect. Even your eldest brother only mastered the first six swords of this divine power."

After saying that, the Tongtian Sect Leader pointed a finger at Fang Yang's forehead, imprinting the cultivation method of the supernatural power into Fang Yang's memory.
