Chapter 16: The Ninja World
In the ninja world, Shikkotsu Forest, one of the three sacred sites for summoning beasts, is shrouded in a thin mist.
A colossal creature, like a mountain range, stretched across the landscape, resembling a giant python about to transform into a dragon from afar. Upon closer inspection, however, its body appeared rather thick, unlike the slender bodies of snakes.
This is the only creature in the Wet Bone Forest, the Slug Sage. Unlike the other two sacred lands of spirit beasts, which each have an ancient creature who has lived for over a thousand years and has a large clan, the Wet Bone Forest has only ever had the Slug Sage.
The Slug Sage can split into thousands upon thousands of smaller slugs—its innate ability; one slug is its swarm. It's a prime example of "I am the swarm," but unfortunately, it doesn't possess the Zerg's terrifying evolutionary talent and mass production capabilities.
It casually ate a leaf from a nearby tree. One bite and all the leaves on the branch were gone.
Suddenly, a blue figure appeared in front of it.
"Welcome, Mr. Richard," came the slug fairy's voice. It was a gentle, magnetic female voice.
"Excuse me, Slug Sage." Richard looked up at the enormous creature, several kilometers long, its head rising up like a mountain.
"It is my honor to have you visit," the slug fairy's voice came again.
"It's a bit inconvenient to talk like this. How about you give me one of the little slugs?" Richard asked tentatively.
"Alright, I just feel that since my friend is here, it would be too impolite not to greet him with my main body." The slug created a clone that was as tall as a person.
"Those things don't matter. Slug Immortal, are you skilled in healing arts? Does your immortal technique lean towards the realm of life?" Richard asked curiously.
As a slug sage on par with the Great Toad Sage and the White Snake Sage, although it usually only displays medical ninjutsu and acid abilities, Richard doesn't believe it doesn't have some unique sage techniques of its own.
"Lord Richard, you can just call me Slug. If we follow your world's understanding, I am indeed inclined towards the laws of life, and my unique immortal techniques are based on this."
In the ninja world, this manifests as Yang Release, the ultimate Yang Release, the ultimate life force. The Slug Sage didn't hide anything.
"I see. I've recently gained some insights into the rules of life. May I ask you for some guidance? Just call me Richard," Richard asked.
"Lord Richard, you are truly learned. As far as I know, you are already proficient in the laws of wind and water, and you are also comprehending destiny and time and space. Now you have added the realm of life. Can you comprehend so many aspects?"
I wouldn't presume to offer guidance, but we can exchange ideas and explore together. The field of life sciences is indeed vast, and it's certainly beyond the capabilities of studying it alone.
"No, you are on equal footing with the original being; I cannot overstep my bounds," the slug said.
"Aren't the main body and the clone both the same person? I also have a divine clone, but in my eyes, I and the clone are one." Richard asked curiously.
"But I have too many clones, and they are very weak. I must limit them and strictly distinguish between my main body and my clones, otherwise there is a risk of losing myself," the slug replied.
"Okay, I understand. Now, to answer your question, I do have quite a few research areas now, but the world I live in is special. As long as you comprehend the rules and laws to a certain extent, you can become a god and then create an independent divine avatar. From then on, the research on this set of rules and laws can be handed over to this divine avatar, reducing the workload of the main body."
Now I have two divine avatars, one for wind and one for water. My main body hardly needs to comprehend these two laws anymore; I leave it all to these two divine avatars.
The same applies to other laws and rules in the future.
"In the end, the main body will probably be primarily responsible for comprehending the laws of spacetime," Richard replied.
"What a convenient world! I'm a little envious of Lord Richard," the slug said.
"There's no need for that. This kind of divine avatar also has its shortcomings. In my world, a divine avatar can only use the laws of its own system. Even if the main body has comprehended other laws, it cannot use them. This restriction only disappears when you leave this world."
Only the main body can use all the laws it comprehends. However, in my world, because I separated my divine avatar when I became a god, my main body has always only reached the Saint Realm. I have no godhood, no divine domain, and even my divine power is borrowed from my divine avatar.
"So, while our power system has the advantage of divine avatars, it also has some inherent flaws." Richard shrugged. Panlong's power system does indeed have some shortcomings.
But he can make up for it with other power systems in the myriad worlds; he doesn't have to hang himself on this one tree. Right now, there just isn't a power system that can truly impress him.
"I see. So, are you a divine avatar now?" the slug asked.
"Yes, a wind-elemental god clone." Richard nodded.
"How does it feel? Is it very different from your world?" the slug asked curiously.
"The difference is not small. The underlying laws are quite different. Although it's not as serious as the conflict between Wanwan and Lin Feng's world, my strength in this world has decreased by more than half." Richard had already experienced it, so he could quickly point out the differences.
Even though his strength had decreased by more than half, he told everyone without reservation.
Even though his power had dwindled by more than half, he was still confident that he was invincible in the ninja world, and that none of them, including those hiding in the Pure Land or sleeping on the moon, were his match.
"Is that alright?" the slug asked.
"It's alright, not a big problem. Let's talk about the rules of life," Richard said.
Then, the two of them shared their insights on life and then discussed the specific differences between them to verify the specific differences in the rules of life in the two worlds.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
"That's about it." Richard stretched and yawned. He had gained a lot from the two days of exchanges. The Slug Sage was indeed a master of Yang Release, and his research on the field of life was very profound. It was enough to allow him to take a step further in his understanding of the rules of life and save him at least a hundred years of hard training.
In terms of pure understanding of the realm of life, the Slug Sage seems to be on par with god-level powerhouses in the Panlong world. Although it's called a discussion of the Dao, Richard was basically the one asking questions. What the Slug Sage gained from Richard was mainly the deviation in laws caused by differences in worlds and the different perspectives on the realm of life under different ways of thinking.
However, the Slug Sage's strength was far inferior to that of a god-level powerhouse. During the conversation, the Slug Sage also mentioned that it estimated its full strength wouldn't be much stronger than Hashirama Senju, mainly due to its larger size advantage.
All things considered, it's somewhat inferior to the so-called Six Paths level. Of course, it can still put up a fight against Six Paths level opponents like Naruto and Sasuke.
That's how the world is. It's not that if you have a higher understanding of the Dao, you'll necessarily be stronger than someone whose understanding isn't as high. Different worlds have different ways of amplifying strength, and the Dao's influence on strength varies from world to world.
For example, in a world like Panlong World, the world favors those with a high level of understanding of the laws. For instance, divine status, divine domains, and the power of will are all bestowed by the world.
Then there are worlds like Swallowed Star, where the world practically feeds you. They directly reveal the laws to you, as if afraid you won't be able to learn them.
Where can ordinary people in the world reason with this?
As for the Slug Sage of the Otsutsuki clan, he chose to give up. Having already learned the plot from Lin Feng and understanding the vastness of the starry sky, he understood that if his strength could increase faster than the Otsutsuki's invasion, he could still put up some resistance; otherwise, he might as well consider living in a different world.
As a real world, we cannot judge the Otsutsuki clan based solely on the few members featured in the story and assume that they are nothing special.
It is only through the few appearances of the Otsutsuki clan members that the chilling truth is revealed.
Princess Kaguya, Isshiki, Momoshiki, Kinshiki, etc., are they important figures?
As an interstellar nomadic people, the Otsutsuki must have a large population. Do they really think that a mere few dozen or a few hundred people can dominate a region in the vast universe?
Putting everything else aside, a single galaxy has 300 billion stars. How many people would it take to dominate a galaxy?
Then, from the Divine Tree, Rinnegan, and Karma, we can see how advanced their biotechnology is. Furthermore, the Otsutsuki who appeared all had impressive space-time abilities.
But to say that they were important members of the Otsutsuki clan, or that they had high scientific literacy or a high level of understanding of the laws, is nonsense.
The attitude of these individuals towards the ninja world gives the impression of a member of a higher civilization looking down on a lower civilization, using the benefits of civilization to bully a backward and inferior civilization.
Thinking about it this way, can we sketch out just the tip of the iceberg of the Otsutsuki clan?
Fortunately, either the ninja world was located in some remote, desolate region, or the Ōtsutsuki clan had experienced some major upheaval.
We know this from the fact that Isshiki and Kaguya disappeared after arriving in the ninja world with a mission to plant trees, and it took a thousand years for someone to come and check on them.
What I'm trying to say is that these individuals are definitely not the true high-level combat force of the Otsutsuki clan. Currently, the Otsutsuki clan doesn't truly value the ninja world. If the Otsutsuki leadership were to focus their attention on the ninja world and send out their real experts, then things would be truly unpredictable.
Richard, in any case, did not believe that he could fight against an advanced interstellar civilization.
So, when Richard asked the Slug Fairy in the group chat, was he planning to rely on a so-called savior?
As an anime, it can have a protagonist, it can be exciting, and justice will inevitably triumph over evil. But what about as a real world?
