America: Starting with the Last Liberty
Chapter 26 Expressing Gratitude Through Action
The Gaines and her daughter moved away anyway.
Mrs. Gaines returned to her home in San Gabriel, while Blake went back to Caltech to continue his studies.
Blake has been on leave for more than a week because of her parents' argument, partly because she accidentally twisted her ankle.
Blake's departure left Rosen feeling somewhat lost, even though he had left his phone number and the two of them would talk on the phone almost every night.
But when the person isn't around, it always feels like something's missing.
So Rosen had no choice but to go to the Sangevik bar to kill some time.
Upon entering the bar, the beautiful female owner was still as enthusiastic as ever.
First, he gave Lawson a glass of whiskey, then he shoved a huge airbag in front of Lawson, making him have a strong urge to drink milk.
"Rosen, you were the one who did the Pacific Standard Bank thing, weren't you?"
At this point, three days had passed since the incident at Pacific Standard Bank, and the Los Angeles Police Department still hadn't made any progress.
However, because of the conflict between Vincent and Megan, this job did not attract public attention, so the Los Angeles Police Department had plenty of time to investigate.
But Vincent was unlucky. The media was clearly dissatisfied with his law enforcement methods, and feminist organizations also got involved, which caused Vincent's reputation to become extremely bad overnight.
Although the police still wanted to protect Vincent, they couldn't simply stand up to the media and feminist organizations.
After all, the media and women's rights organizations have a very large social voice, and no one will jeopardize their own future for the sake of others.
As a result, Vincent had to take paid leave, and when he could return to the police station depended on when Megan would calm down.
Why do you say that?
Rosen didn't give Svefa a direct answer; he wouldn't be foolish enough to admit it outright.
"Hehe, you just got the information of the security supervisor at Standard Bank of Pacific from a few days ago, and then this happened. What else could it be?"
Svefa blew smoke rings into Rosen's face.
He didn't know what the cigarette was made of, but it had a faint fragrance that made Rosen squint.
"Ms. Svepha, you won't tell anyone about this, will you?"
"Of course, Zangie Vicky Bar has professional ethics and will not disclose any information about its customers to anyone, so you can rest assured!"
Rosen didn't believe that Svefa could keep a secret under the threat of death.
Although some of these statements sound very villainous, I only believe that the dead can keep secrets.
However, given Svefa's background, there shouldn't be any major problems.
"Thank you so much, Ms. Svefar!"
Svefa winked at Rosen.
"Rosen, a verbal thank you is enough; I'd much rather see your gratitude shown through actions!"
Rosen's lips twitched. This Nordic woman's enthusiasm always made him feel a little overwhelmed, especially with the airbag right in front of him.
At that moment, two more customers entered the Sanjiviki bar: a middle-aged man with a rugged face and a serious expression, accompanied by a young blonde woman.
Rosen glanced at it casually and was immediately surprised.
Isn't this Scarlet Witch? Could this be a superhero world?
No! Rosen had never seen the name Tony Stark through any channel; this definitely couldn't be the superhero world.
If you look closely at this version of Scarlet Witch, she doesn't have red hair but blonde hair, so this must be a different character.
Wow! Could it be that movie, Thanos vs. Scarlet Witch?
Was the Scarlet Witch blonde in that movie?
Rosen couldn't quite remember because he was too busy watching the action scenes.
Perhaps it was Rosen's staring that displeased Scarlet Witch, who glared at him, bringing him back to his senses.
Svefa suddenly leaned close to Rosen's ear and breathed softly.
"Rosen, are you interested in that blonde girl?"
"Oh? No, that's not true! I just thought she looked familiar."
"Rosen, that's such an old-fashioned way to start a conversation. Don't ever use that!"
Rosen looked at Svefa speechlessly; it seemed she really had misunderstood.
Rosen could even detect a faint sour smell.
After all, Scarlet Witch looks really youthful and beautiful now, probably only in her early twenties, and the collagen in her face looks like it could burst with water if you pinched it.
While Svefa is very well-maintained and has a hot and sexy figure, her skin can never compare to that of a younger woman.
Time is truly the most terrifying weapon; no one can escape its real damage.
"Ahem! Ms. Svefa, I really didn't mean anything by it! In my opinion, those young girls have no charm whatsoever compared to you, ma'am!"
Rosen's words made Svefie beam with joy, and the airbags vibrated violently, which was quite a shock.
"Little Rosen, even if you're lying to me, I'm still happy! However, those two people are no ordinary individuals, so you'd better find somewhere else to continue drinking."
Someone with an unusual identity?
Rosen put on his hostile sunglasses and glanced at the middle-aged man and the blonde woman again. There was no hostility between them, which meant they weren't after him.
But at this moment, Rosen suddenly felt that these two people had a special aura, and were out of place with the other customers in the bar.
Moreover, the way the two looked at these guests was like a cat eyeing a mouse, and this peculiar feeling instantly made Rosen think of a possibility.
"The cops?"
"Little Rosen, you're really clever! They're here to see me, why don't you stay out of their way?"
Rosen's eyes flickered, but with his hostile sunglasses on, no one could see them.
That's the advantage of wearing sunglasses; you never know if Rosen is looking at a face or watching the game while wearing them.
"Ms. Svefa, there's no need for that. I can sit a little to the side without disturbing your business."
"Alright then, you should pretend you didn't hear some of what I said!"
Svefa guessed Rosen's thoughts, so she stopped trying to persuade him and instead focused her attention on the rugged middle-aged man who walked up to the bar.
"Mr. Sean Arthur, it's been a long time!"
"You too, Ms. Sweefa, you're getting younger and more beautiful every day."
Sean wore a formulaic smile.
"Hehe! Mr. Arthur, even if you praise me like that, I won't give you a discount!"
Sweefa's words made Sean's face contort with pain, clearly indicating that he had been ripped off quite a bit.
"Ms. Svefa, I'm not kidding anymore. I want to buy some information from you."
"Oh? FBI agents want to buy intelligence from me too?"
Rosen felt that Svefa's words were a reminder to him.
However, Rosen really didn't expect that the man and woman would be federal police officers; at first, he thought they were Los Angeles police officers.
"The FBI's intelligence agencies are not omnipotent."
"Alright, tell me whose information you want first."
"David Albert, General Manager of a Pacific Standard Bank branch."
