America: Starting with the Last Liberty
Chapter 28 Poor Digestion
With the help of the magical hangover cure, Lawson successfully emerged victorious in his drinking contest against Dominic.
Dominic, Vince, and Jesse were all drunk by Rosen.
Since Rosen couldn't possibly take the three grown men with him, he had no choice but to find Mia's number in Dominic's phone and ask her to come and help.
"How did they get so drunk?"
When Mia arrived at the Sangevik bar, she saw Dominic, Vince, and Jesse embracing each other in a rather philosophical scene.
Rosen spread his hands, his expression quite innocent.
"Well, Dominic insisted on having a drinking contest with me, and this is how it ended up."
"Huh? My brother has a good alcohol tolerance! How much did he drink to get like this?"
"Not many, maybe a dozen or so bottles of whiskey."
Rosen pointed to the empty whiskey bottles that filled the booth.
Mia was speechless. The alcohol content of whiskey is generally around 40 degrees. If you do an alcohol test after drinking a dozen or so bottles, there definitely won't be a single drop of blood in the alcohol!
But then Mia became curious, because although Rosen smelled strongly of alcohol, he seemed perfectly fine.
Mia, who had also been drinking, found this record hard to believe.
"What a load of rubbish! Are you trying to break a Guinness World Record?"
"Um, shall we get Dominic and the others into the car first?"
It must have been very difficult for Mia, a girl, to move three grown men. It was Rosen who helped her put the three of them on top of each other in the back seat of the car.
However, getting the three of them out of the car when they got home was a problem, so Rosen sat in the passenger seat with Mia and went back with her.
"Oh? Mia, so you live in Saint-Gabriel too?"
"Yes, San Gabriel is relatively safer and quieter. When we lived in downtown Los Angeles, we encountered gunfights every few days!"
In America, the middle class and the wealthy mostly live in the suburbs, in the kind of detached houses you often see in movies.
Only the poor live in downtown neighborhoods, which are also the areas with the highest crime rates.
East Los Angeles, where Rosen currently lives, is within this area.
So when Ray Gaines heard Blake talking on the phone that night, he told her to hurry back.
Rosen himself would keep the G18 within easy reach even when he was sleeping, just in case someone decided to break in and steal from him.
"What a coincidence! Mia, I'm planning to move, could you help me find a relatively private apartment?"
Snakes have their paths, and rats have theirs.
After Mrs. Gaines moved away and Blake returned to school, Rosen prepared to move away from the previous neighborhood.
But where to move is a problem. He definitely wouldn't consider a chaotic area, and Rosen also needs to conceal his information.
After all, Rosen had just finished a job a few days ago.
Mia and Dominic's local connections should be able to help Rosen find a suitable new home.
"Rosen, what are your requirements for the new house?"
"I don't have any special requirements. I don't mind if the location is a bit remote, as long as it's quiet and spacious. I don't mind if the rent is a bit higher, but I don't want to sign a rental contract."
The reason for not signing a rental contract is that I don't want to leave my personal information. I don't care about paying more rent, since Lawson has money now.
"I see. I'll keep an eye out for you."
As they spoke, they arrived at Dominic's house. This guy actually lived in a detached house in the suburbs and could be considered middle class.
Hans and Jesse were Dominic's neighbors, which is why they hung out together.
Rosen and Mia carried the three grown men into the house, exhausted and covered in sweat, their breath from the alcohol gone.
"Rosen, thank you so much! I don't know how I would have dealt with these three guys without your help."
Sweating profusely, Mia thanked Rosen.
"It's nothing. If it weren't for me, they wouldn't be this drunk."
"Come on! These three guys are always drunk, this isn't the first time I've encountered this situation!"
As she spoke, Mia couldn't help but kick her brother, Dominic, who then mumbled something in his sleep.
"Letty, don't kick me! I'll never do it again!"
Mia couldn't help but laugh out loud at these words, while Rosen looked at her with some confusion.
Mia quickly explained why she was laughing.
"Letty is my brother's girlfriend, and they've been having a fight lately."
Rosen raised an eyebrow, surprised that Dom had this side to him.
However, this guy is indeed quite loyal; he has never changed his mind throughout the series, which is quite rare in Hollywood stories.
"Mia, it's getting late, I should go home too."
"Are you leaving so soon? No, I mean, do you want me to give you a ride?"
Mia tossed her hair, a peculiar look in her eyes.
It's not just men who are lustful; women are lustful too.
Rosen's top-tier looks are the kind that would pique a woman's interest.
Clearly, Mia was very interested in Rosen. This time, without her brother in the way, the woman was preparing to take some action.
Rosen was fully aware of this.
Back when he was still eating welfare meals, a wealthy woman noticed Rosen and wanted to take him as her sugar daddy.
Rosen almost held on, and from then on lived a life of hardship and dependence on his wife.
Unfortunately, Rosen's spine was too stiff to bend.
"Isn't it unnecessary? It's so late."
"It would be better to give it to them; it's hard to get a taxi at this hour!"
Indeed, Rosen found it particularly difficult to hail a taxi during his time in America.
On the one hand, almost everyone in America owns a car, and on the other hand, taxis are very scarce. If you don't book in advance, you can only hail a taxi in certain special locations.
For example, at the entrance of an airport, a commercial street, or the entrance of a large hotel.
"Alright, then I'll leave it to you."
Back in Mia's car, Rosen suddenly noticed a faint reflection in the distance.
This situation reminded Rosen of a time when he had dinner at Mrs. Gaines's house, when Ray Gaines was in another building using binoculars to monitor Mrs. Gaines's apartment.
Could it be that someone is spying on me now?
Rosen immediately looked in the direction of the reflection.
Unfortunately, the monitors were very vigilant, and it was dark at night, so nothing could be seen.
"Rosen, what's wrong?"
"No, it's nothing. I think I just saw a wild boar."
Saint-Gabriel is located near the Saint-Gabriel Mountains, and the city may even be named after the mountains, so wild animals often come down from the mountains to visit.
That sounds funny, but if you come home to find a grizzly hamster rummaging through your closet, you won't find it funny.
"A wild boar? Rosen, don't scare me!"
"Maybe I saw it wrong, Mia, you don't need to worry about it."
