America: Starting with the Last Liberty
Chapter 33 Unable to Begin
The Glock 18 is also known as the G18.
This pistol is an unconventional pistol, because the G18 has an astonishing rate of fire of 1200 rounds per minute.
What does this rate of fire mean?
If you preload a bullet into the barrel of the G18 and then use a standard double-stack 17-round magazine, you'll have a total of 18 rounds.
These 18 bullets can be fired in less than a second, because the G18 can fire 20 bullets per second!
Many submachine guns don't have such a terrifying rate of fire!
Such a ferocious rate of fire naturally brings a lot of problems, such as huge recoil and extremely poor accuracy.
However, this also gives the G18 an extremely terrifying suppressive power at close range.
That unknown extra just proved it; he was riddled with bullets in a fraction of a second.
The sudden change startled Vincent, and Donnie seized the opportunity to pounce on him.
Vincent tried to fire back, but Brian, who was on the ground, kicked him at that moment.
The cooperation between the two undercover police officers caused Vincent's bullets to hit the ceiling.
Donnie had just been shot and his wife had been kidnapped by Vincent, so naturally he was determined to kill Vincent.
However, Vincent was no pushover either, and the two immediately began an unrestricted ground fight.
Meanwhile, the remaining burly man had already seen the person on the ceiling who killed his companion—a man in a suit wearing a clown mask.
The experienced, burly man counted the number of bullets for the clown mask and, the instant the gunfire stopped, left his cover and unleashed a burst of fire at the ceiling.
The high rate of fire is indeed an advantage, but it also makes the G18's ammunition deplete very quickly.
Unless equipped with a special drum magazine that looks like a lychee, even a long magazine with 33 bullets cannot last more than 2 seconds.
(This is the kind of thing)
The burly man had anticipated this, and with his submachine gun in hand, he tried to suppress the clown mask.
However, the clown mask showed no intention of reloading; after only a second, the G18 resumed firing.
Caught off guard, the burly man was riddled with bullets.
At this point, all of Vincent's henchmen were killed, and Vincent himself was forced to surrender under Brian's gun.
Donnie struggled to his feet after punching Vincent in the face several times.
"Luo...Clown, is that you?"
"Of course it's me, who else would you think it is?"
Rosen jumped down from the ceiling and dusted himself off.
Donnie, dragging his injured leg, untied the ropes binding his wife Maggie, and the couple embraced, a scene of relief after surviving a close call.
As for Rosen, he went to examine the bodies of the two burly men.
These two guys were dressed in formal attire, and in addition to submachine guns, they even had hand grenades on them.
This kind of equipment is not something that ordinary people can possess.
Furthermore, Rosen discovered identical tattoos on both of them, indicating they were clearly from the same organization.
"Donnie, I really don't want to bother you, but you'd better come over and see what these two guys' tattoos mean."
Donnie calmed Maggie down, then limped over to the body and glanced at it.
"These are Bonanno family tattoos!"
"Bonano?"
Rosen had only heard about this Mafia family from Dominic yesterday, and he never expected to run into a formal member of the Bonanno family today.
"So this police officer has been colluding with the Mafia all along?"
Rosen looked at Vincent with a strange expression, and Brian, who was pointing a gun at Vincent, was also very surprised.
Donnie's face turned extremely pale instantly, as if he had thought of something, or perhaps because of excessive blood loss.
"Vincent Murphy! You're colluding with the Bonanno family on one hand, and on the other hand, you're sending me to infiltrate them! Weren't all my previous undercover agents killed because of you?!"
Rosen raised an eyebrow. This Vincent is really good at playing the game. He sends out undercover agents on one hand and cooperates with the Mafia on the other, making money from both sides!
Vincent remained silent. The situation had completely reversed, and his only hope was to go to jail.
So Vincent looked at Brian, the easiest of the group to fool.
"Brian, take me to the police station, I want to turn myself in!"
These words clearly made Brian hesitate for a moment. This young undercover police officer still had a simple sense of justice in his heart. Once he had spent a few years in the underworld like Donnie, he would become a seasoned veteran.
How could Rosen let this guy turn himself in? After all, the other party had probably already seen his face.
"Hey, you don't really want to send him to the police station, do you?"
Brian looked at Rosen warily. He knew that the other person was the one who had just called him, but Rosen's attire clearly didn't look like a good person.
(No video footage of the Pacific Standard Bank job has been released, only a fake portrait of the person on a wanted poster, so Brian doesn't recognize Rosen's disguise.)
"Is there a problem?"
"The person you want to send to prison is a corrupt cop who works with the Mafia. Aren't you afraid he'll contact the Mafia to retaliate against you from behind bars?"
Brian was taken aback; he clearly hadn't considered this possibility.
Seeing this, Vincent quickly offered an explanation.
"No! I would never retaliate against you!"
"Huh? You guys are really going to believe that someone who kidnaps a pregnant woman to threaten her has any credibility?"
Donnie took a deep breath; he was determined not to let anything like this happen again.
"Maggie, close your eyes!"
Maggie obediently closed her eyes, while Donnie dragged his injured leg to Brian's side.
"Brian, give me the gun! Since you don't want to get your hands dirty, let me be the bad guy. Anyway, I'm not planning to continue being a cop."
Brian was torn; what Donnie was about to do was absolutely against his professional ethics.
But seeing Donnie's resolute gaze, Brian ultimately handed the gun to him.
Seeing this, Vincent finally panicked.
"No! Joe, please let me go! I promise I'll never bother you again! Please!"
Donnie's hand holding the gun trembled. Taking a person's life with his own hands was a huge psychological burden for him.
There was nothing else Rosen could do but give Donnie a gentle push from behind.
"Donnie, you don't want to spend the rest of your life living on the run, do you? Think about your unborn child!"
These words became the final straw for Donnie, and he pulled the trigger.
boom!
Vincent fell to the ground.
Brian looked at Donnie with a complicated expression; he knew the other man had no way to turn back.
Donnie turned to look at Brian and handed the gun back to him.
"Brian, if you're going to arrest me, then take out the handcuffs now! I just want you to get Maggie into the witness protection program!"
But Brian eventually dropped the pistol.
"I'm partly responsible for all of this! Donnie, you and Maggie should leave and never come back to Los Angeles. I'll pretend tonight never happened!"
