America: Starting with the Last Liberty
Chapter 4 Reward
"Hey Rosen, you did a fantastic job tonight!"
A bald, burly man led a young, dark-haired woman into the Zangie Vicky bar. Upon seeing Rosen sitting at a round table, they immediately greeted him warmly.
It was already close to 11 o'clock, and the customers in the Sanjiviki bar had all changed.
People who drink in the first half of the night and those who drink in the second half of the night are usually not the same group of people.
"Dominic, even if you praise me like that, I won't give you a discount."
The bald, burly man laughed heartily, then sat down next to Rosen with the black-haired woman.
"Let me introduce you. This is my sister, Mia. And this is Rosen, the second-best driver in all of Los Angeles after me!"
"Hello!"
Mia smiled and extended her hand to Rosen. Rosen very gentlemanly offered his hand, but did not fully grasp it, only taking half of it.
I also took a look at the girl named Mia.
Mia, like Dominic, is of mixed race and has a distinct Latin flair.
It's full of enthusiasm, just like the samba dance.
She is about 1.7 meters tall with a curvaceous figure, as hot as the sun on a Brazilian beach.
Rosen only glanced at her before quickly looking away; it was very inappropriate to stare at someone's sister the moment they met.
However, Rosen was also a little puzzled. Dom had always protected his sister very well and rarely allowed her to be directly involved in his "business".
Why did I suddenly decide to bring my sister to Zangie Vicky Bar today?
This is not a respectable place.
"Dominic, I disagree with that. I think I'm the best driver in Los Angeles."
"Shall we have a competition another day?"
"no problem!"
At this point in the joke, Dominic picked up a black shoulder bag, placed it on the round table, and pushed it in front of Rosen.
"I've added another $10,000 to the agreed-upon $40,000, as a reward for your help last time!"
"Then I won't stand on ceremony."
Rosen smiled and took the bag, slinging it over his shoulder. He liked this kind of generous customer.
It may not seem like much, but in those days, an average American only earned about $500 a week.
Fast food chains like McDonald's and KFC pay even less, perhaps only two or three hundred dollars a week.
Ten thousand dollars is enough for an average American to live comfortably for several months, provided they don't have any bad habits.
No wonder Dom has so many friends in the Los Angeles underworld.
Although Americans don't have a concept of being generous, people who are generous are always more likely to win the favor of others.
After Rosen accepted the money, he greeted his boss, Svefa.
"Boss, another bottle of whiskey, I want to have a good drink with Boss Dom!"
The whiskey was delivered quickly, and Rosen and Dominic each poured themselves a full glass, while Mia also received half a glass.
Dominic downed a glass of wine and looked at Rosen.
"Aren't you curious why I asked you to do that?"
"Dominic, in our line of work, there's no need to know things we shouldn't know unless the employer tells us. I'm only responsible for getting paid and doing the job."
Rosen gave a faint smile, and his sunny and handsome face made Mia momentarily dazed.
For the first time, Mia felt that Eastern men could be so charming.
Dominic couldn't help but laugh and pat Rosen on the shoulder.
"Ha! That's what I like about you! Professional, discreet, and worry-free!"
Rosen brushed Dominic's hand away with a look of disdain.
"Sorry, I'm not interested in men."
This surprised Dominic for a moment, and then he punched Rosen in the shoulder.
"You little brat, you're playing jokes on me like that!"
Dominic is such a big guy, so that punch really hurt. Rosen couldn't help but grimace.
This made Mia, who was standing to the side, feel a little embarrassed.
"Brother, how could you hit someone?"
"It's just our way of greeting each other, is there a problem?"
The bald, burly man looked at his sister strangely.
Rosen rolled his eyes; he would much rather be the one greeting the other person this way next time.
"Donimick, feel free to contact me again if you need any work. I'm always available!"
Upon hearing this, Dominic seemed to hesitate for a moment, as if there really was some kind of job for him.
However, Dominic and Rosen have only known each other for a month, so he probably has some reservations.
"Dominic, it's okay if it's inconvenient for you. We're friends anyway."
Dominic was very touched by Rosen's understanding nature.
"Dude, there are some things I'm still not sure about! Look, if I need any help, I'll definitely contact you right away!"
After saying that, the bald, burly man downed the whiskey in his glass in one gulp.
"Mia, we should go! Rosen, call me if you need anything."
Before leaving, Mia winked at Rosen, seemingly very interested in him.
"I will."
Rosen also raised his glass to Dominic, then downed his whiskey in one gulp.
Watching the brother and sister, who looked completely different, leave the bar, Rosen sat for a while longer before also settling his bill and leaving.
Given the security situation around the Sanjiviki bar, and with Rosen carrying so much cash, he was extremely cautious the whole way, clutching his G18 in his pocket the entire time, afraid that some guy with camouflage might suddenly jump out and do a zero-dollar purchase.
If you accidentally kill someone, that would be really bad; the G18's firepower is no joke.
Fortunately, monsters don't usually spawn on main roads, so Rosen made it back to the apartment entrance without incident.
Just as he was going upstairs, a suitcase suddenly rolled down the stairs, startling Rosen so much that he almost drew his gun.
"I'm so sorry! This suitcase is really heavy, did it hurt you?"
A clear and melodious female voice came from the corner of the stairs, but unfortunately the stairwell light in Rosen's rented apartment had been broken for a long time, so he couldn't see who was speaking.
Landlords of these cheap apartments won't bother fixing the stairwell lights, since they're not essential.
So Rosen took out his flashlight and shone it on her, and saw a pure face, a pair of beautiful, deep blue eyes, and a pair of magnificent headlights that were completely incongruous with her pure face.
Alexandra Daddario?
These headlights look so familiar. I've seen them several times in my past life, but I never expected to see them in person today!
"Ma'am, do you need help?"
Rosen noticed that "Alysandra Daddario" was lying on the corner of the stairs, probably because it was too dark and she couldn't see the stairs and fell.
Alexandra Daddario initially intended to refuse, but upon seeing that Rosen was young and handsome, and possessed a mysterious aura from the East, she immediately changed her mind.
"As you can see, I am indeed in some trouble right now."
