America: Starting with the Last Liberty
Chapter 79 We're safe, for now.
However, Neil's order came too late. Several people on the second floor of the Korean restaurant broke the windows and jumped down, landing on the roof of the white van.
Then, these people opened the carriage door and climbed inside.
Immediately afterwards, the driver stepped on the gas and accelerated, crashing through trash cans and other debris in the alley and speeding off to the other end.
"Damn it! Why aren't you getting in the car and stopping that white van! Also, notify the station to send more men!"
Neil felt that things were getting out of control tonight, from the LAPD’s involvement to the appearance of the purple Dodge Viper and this strange white van.
Things were spiraling out of control in a strange direction.
This made Neil even more curious about what had happened on the second floor of the Korean restaurant.
The FBI split into two groups: one group got into a Chevrolet Suburban to chase the white van, while the other group, led by Neil, went to the second floor of the Korean restaurant.
Soon, Neil saw a large number of corpses.
There were three private rooms in total, and all of them contained corpses, totaling about forty people. It can be preliminarily determined that they all died from gunshot wounds.
"These people all seem to be from the Bonanno family!"
Neil's expression was extremely grim; he never expected that the information Rosen provided would bring such a huge problem.
It's important to understand that even in America, where shootings happen every day, the deaths of forty people in a single shooting incident are absolutely major cases.
If things go wrong, Neil could end up being blamed for this case.
So, in a bad mood, Neil grabbed Johnny Chen by the collar and pulled him in front of him.
"What on earth happened? Why are so many people dying in your shop?"
"I don't know! I was out for an hour before I came back, I don't know anything!"
"How could you not know! You definitely know!"
Neil was certain that the Asian man in front of him was a key figure in this massacre.
"You can't do this to me! I'm going to see my lawyer!"
"Okay, tell me who your lawyer is? I'll have him come over here right now!"
"Saul Goodman".
Neil stared wide-eyed, his mouth agape, his neck turning bright red, as if he had something in F language he wanted to say but couldn't bring himself to say it.
Saul Goodman is a very famous lawyer on the West Coast. Although his surname is Goodman, he is an absolute wolf in sheep's clothing.
This guy specializes in defending the wealthy, gangsters, and criminals, and is known for his ruthless methods.
He was adept at winning defenses through fraud, instigation, and perjury, yet no one could catch Saul Goodman red-handed.
Neil had a colleague who fell victim to Saul Goodman, so he had a rather unpleasant reaction to the name.
This shows that what happened tonight was a complete conspiracy, and the mastermind behind it all had made all the preparations. Neil and the FBI were just people who accidentally walked into the maze.
Even if Neil is certain that Johnny Chen has a problem, it won't matter; he has to follow the procedure.
Even if this procedure allows many bad people to escape due punishment, it must be done.
That said, without this procedure, countless wrongful convictions and miscarriages of justice would have occurred.
There is no perfect system in the world.
Neil struggled to control his emotions; if he were to lay a hand on Johnny Chen now, it could very well become a point of leverage for Saul Goodman in the later court proceedings.
So in the end, Neil could only leave with a harsh remark.
"Take this guy back first, then investigate the scene!"
In a corner, a Los Angeles police officer casually picked up a tape recorder and put it in his pocket.
On the other side, the white van had successfully shaken off the pursuing Chevrolet Suburban through its agile and skillful maneuvering.
The Chevrolet Suburban was still too cumbersome, and the FBI agents were far less skilled than the driver of the white van.
The white van dared to drift into the alley without slowing down, something the FBI agents certainly wouldn't dare do, so it was inevitable that it would be shaken off.
After confirming that it was safe, the white van slowly drove to a secluded spot, and the driver got out and opened the van's doors.
"Dominic, we're safe, for now!"
The people in the carriage were very surprised to hear this sound.
"Rosen, is that you? And that purple Dodge Viper?"
"That was Brian driving; I told him to lead the LAPD away."
Rosen's original plan was not like this. The reason for changing it was partly because the job seemed strange from beginning to end, and partly because Rosen was worried about Brian's driving skills.
Brian's driving skills are indeed quite good, but it's still a bit difficult to escape the FBI's pursuit in a mid-sized van.
If the FBI catches them, then the first additional condition for the family job will fail.
In comparison, getting rid of the LAPD in a Dodge Viper would be much easier, since that Dodge Viper had been modified by Rosen to be very powerful, and as long as Brian didn't do anything reckless, there shouldn't be any problems.
Brian was driving the purple Dodge Viper with a mix of coughing and excitement.
He coughed because he had been in the refrigerated truck for an hour in the early morning. Even a strong young man like him couldn't avoid catching a cold.
As for excitement...
Rosen's purple Dodge Viper is definitely the most powerful car Brian has ever driven. What man wouldn't be excited to drive such a top-of-the-line vehicle?
There were a lot of strange buttons on the dial and console that Brian really wanted to press.
"It's a pity Rosen said these buttons can't be pressed, otherwise I really wanted to try them!"
Brian coughed and his mind wandered, actually because his cold was getting worse and making it hard for him to concentrate.
When driving, a lack of concentration can easily lead to accidents.
A police car suddenly drove out from the front, blocking the Dodge Viper's path.
Under normal circumstances, Brian would definitely be able to react quickly, but now, because of his cold, his reaction speed is noticeably slower.
So, because he turned the steering wheel too much, Brian's Dodge Viper crashed into a roadside utility pole.
+1 to the utility pole record!
Despite Brian being wearing a seatbelt, his head still slammed hard against the steering wheel.
Immediately afterwards, several police cars surrounded the purple Dodge Viper, and then a dazed Brian was dragged out of the car.
Brian heard a muffled voice as the scarf was removed from his face.
"Brian O'Connor, how could it be you!"
After that, Brian completely lost consciousness.
Meanwhile, Rosen was trying to persuade Dominic to run away.
"Dominic, you three need to hide for a while. I bet your arrest warrants will be out by daybreak."
"Why? We didn't do anything, all we did was save Mia!"
Dominic was somewhat puzzled.
Rosen shook his head helplessly. He knew that since Francis had taken action, he would definitely go all the way with the case.
"Dominic, things aren't that simple!"
