Chapter 12 Would I be that kind? Don't overthink it.
"What exactly happened?"
Suppressing his temper, Cen Li asked again.
How would he know if the female insect didn't tell him?
Ashel looked dejected.
The powerful ruler's words, when they reached his ears, were nothing more than feigning deafness and dumbness.
"Don't you know?"
"I have been suspended from my duties by the military."
Ashel gave up on himself.
Unable to vent his pent-up anger, his words inevitably carried a hint of sharpness.
Cen Li met his dejected eyes and his heart skipped a beat.
"I really don't know."
No wonder Ashleigh seemed off today; she must have thought he'd done something shady.
Ashel's expression clearly showed disbelief.
But he couldn't lash out, and he looked very frustrated as he knelt on the spot.
Suppressing his doubts, Cen Li forced a smile and asked, "Does the Major General suspect that I did it?"
Ashel stared into the male insect's eyes, wanting to say, "Isn't that right?"
But he can't.
Ashel: "I wouldn't dare."
Cen Li sensed that the female insect was somewhat unconvinced.
He raised an eyebrow: "Major General, this doesn't seem like you're afraid."
It seems that military work is very important to Ashel, as he cannot hide his emotions well.
This surprised Cen Li.
"Host, the insect that suspended Ashel's position is your female father, Admiral Derek."
007 provides timely reminders.
Suspending a major general is not a difficult task for General Derek.
Cen Li could guess to some extent why General Derek did this.
He simply wanted to give Ashel a warning, and incidentally make it easier for Cen Li to carry out his "punishment".
Having figured out the cause and effect, Cen Li felt helpless.
His gaze returned to Ashel.
The female insect remained silent, like a dull puppet.
But the elongated silhouette under the lamplight somehow appeared stubborn.
Cen Li pouted, feeling increasingly uneasy the more he thought about it.
Why should he take the blame if he didn't do it?
Cen Li swiftly reached out and lifted Asher's chin, forcing him to look directly at him.
"I told you, I didn't do it."
"Understand?"
Ashel was forced to meet the male insect's blue eyes, and the force from its jaws was not to be underestimated, yet he still remained somewhat skeptical.
Cen Li muttered to himself.
Ashel doesn't seem to believe it at all!
The original owner's image was indeed incredibly bad.
He shook off his hand in annoyance, but still maintained his insect-like facade: "I wouldn't stoop to lying to you about this."
Cen Li quickly swiped through the terminal and made a call.
How could he possibly swallow his anger when he's been unfairly accused?!
It's perfectly reasonable to angrily want to throw the evidence in the insect's face, isn't it?
General Derek's familiar voice came through the terminal, and Ashel looked up.
General Derek was surprised and delighted to receive Cen Li's message and asked what was wrong.
Cen Li cut straight to the point: "Father, I heard Ashel has been suspended?"
Ashe twitched her fingers as she heard her name mentioned.
Does the powerful ruler really not know about this matter beforehand?
It wasn't him who did it either?
Ashel listened silently, thinking that male insects really didn't need to act. Could it be that he had misunderstood?
General Derek's voice followed immediately.
"Yes, I gave the order."
"Didn't you want to punish Ashel? This will make things easier and also temper his temper."
Humiliation Value +2
Humiliation Value +2
……
Cen Li frowned for a moment as he listened to the constant notification sounds in his ear.
He glanced at the kneeling female insect.
The matter seemed to have circled back to him.
007 doesn't understand the intricacies of human nature; it only knows that it has gained more points of humiliation.
It happily spun around, praising without reservation.
"Host, you're truly the most amazing host I've ever seen. You can still collect humiliation points without issuing any story missions. You're so dedicated and hardworking!"
Cen Li:?
Cen Li: Me?
Cen Li, who was inexplicably labeled as the "most dedicated host," thought to himself: This was completely by accident.
Today's achievements are even greater than the combined results of 007's previous assignments.
Cen Li silently swallowed his words of explanation, secretly reciting the system's flattery.
Ashel's mood shifted from initial surprise to utter desolation.
Even if the male insect wasn't the one who suspended him, it's still inextricably linked to Cen Li.
Cen Li could not deny this.
The conversation continued.
Most of the greetings were one-sided, consisting of General Derek's small talk, with Cen Li occasionally responding.
Even so, General Derek was satisfied.
Finally, Cen Li suddenly spoke up.
"Father, Ashel is going to work at the military headquarters tomorrow."
Upon hearing this, Ashel suddenly looked over.
General Derek asked, puzzled, "Why? He can stay home and take better care of you."
Cen Li paused for a moment.
"I don't need insects to take care of me."
After a three-second silence, General Derek realized he had misspoke and, afraid of touching on Cen Li's sore spot, carefully organized his words: "Anyway, it's never a bad thing for Asher to stay home."
Cen Li: "He keeps appearing in front of me, it's really annoying."
General Derek paused for a moment, then said, "Then keep him away, or you can lock him in the basement."
Cen Li:......
He refuted all of these indirectly, so General Derek had no choice but to go along with Cen Li's suggestion: "Then lift the suspension on Asher."
When Ashel heard this, he was slightly taken aback, and then his expression turned to surprise.
Their tightly clenched hands unconsciously loosened.
Cen Li noticed several pinch marks on his palms, which, over time, had turned into a shocking dark red.
After hanging up the call, Ashel cleverly spoke first: "I misunderstood you, Lord. Thank you for allowing me to resume my position in the military."
Cen Li: "Don't overthink it. I'm just in a good mood today. I wouldn't be this kind every time."
Ashel responded with a "Yes".
This was a result he dared not hope for; Ash felt an unrealistic sense of floating on clouds, as if he could fall at any moment.
I just hope the powerful leader won't change his mind anytime soon.
