Revitalization of Spirituality: My Front Door Leads to a Miniature Universe
Chapter 59 The Underground World
The two approached and carefully examined the figure, which, to be precise, should be a "clay figure".
Its body was covered in dust, eroded and dried by time. It was human-shaped, but its appearance was strange and it was hard to tell whether it was male or female. It sat cross-legged on a futon in the pavilion, motionless. It was covered with a layer of black armor, the material of which was indistinguishable, but it shimmered faintly.
To Gu Yuan's surprise, there was no sign of life on the clay figure; it was like a statue in a temple.
The terrifying fluctuations we sensed earlier came from the bright red blood on the steps, and we didn't know who had left it.
After examining the clay sculpture for a while, the man and the tiger focused their gaze on the large crack beside it. Instantly, their faces froze, and they stood motionless for a long time, as if petrified.
"What...are they looking at?"
The beast kings and the old Taoist priest below the pavilion noticed something was wrong and all moved closer.
The old Taoist priest called out to Gu Yuan, but the former did not respond at all, standing there like a statue, his eyes gradually becoming lifeless and empty, as if he had fallen into an illusion.
The Tiger King opposite it was the same, as if it couldn't hear the shouts.
The eerie scene sent chills down the spines of many beast kings. They wanted to approach but stopped in their tracks, fearing that they too would lose their way and fall into the illusion.
After much hesitation, the old Taoist priest stepped forward and, having experienced the shock of the two men earlier, arrived beside them.
"Kid, are you alright?"
The old Taoist priest came to Gu Yuan's side and gently nudged him. He closed his eyes, knowing that the former was acting this way because he was looking at the crack in the ground, so he was on guard.
"Noble Taoist...do you believe in reincarnation?"
To the old Taoist's surprise, Gu Yuan did not fall into any illusion. His originally empty eyes looked over and gradually became bright, filled with unparalleled shock.
The old Taoist priest was taken aback, then his heart settled down, and he focused his gaze on the crack.
His eyes became vacant, just like Gu Yuan's, and his lips twitched.
Below, no one knew how far away it was... but there was a shimmering light, not the darkness I had imagined. It was a golden desert with a river rushing and roaring, surrounded by undulating mountains that soared into the clouds—a scene of primordial wilderness.
Upon closer inspection, a black line appeared in the middle of the desert, resembling a road. Figures moved endlessly along it, like zombies, before falling into the water like dumplings being dropped into a pot and carried away to an unknown distance.
This looks just like the legendary River Styx... and those figures are probably "ghosts" going there to be reincarnated.
"How could this happen?"
The old Taoist priest snapped out of his daze, veins bulging on his forehead and cold sweat pouring down his face. Although he couldn't see it very clearly, he was certain that the overwhelming aura of death was unmistakable. Underneath Mount Tai... it was connected to the underworld.
He finally understood why Gu Yuan and Tiger King were so surprised; if this got out, it would probably scare many people to death.
The cycle of reincarnation in the underworld may truly exist.
Even if it's not the so-called hell, that underground world alone is enough to astound the world.
"Rumor has it... that the Great Emperor of Mount Tai is the deity who governs the underworld... Could it be that we have already arrived in the underworld under his jurisdiction?"
The Tiger King murmured softly, his eyes no longer displaying their former arrogance and haughtiness, but instead filled with worry.
Gu Yuan and the old Taoist priest understood what the former meant and were greatly shocked. If that was really the case... they were probably no longer on Mount Tai, but had traveled through space through the Fujun Temple to a new world.
"Can we go back?"
The old Taoist priest whispered, looking somewhat flustered. The previous path had been blocked, leaving him with no way out.
The Tiger King's eyes also turned towards them. Now they were in the same boat, and no grudges were as important as getting out alive.
"able!"
At that moment, Gu Yuan gave an affirmative answer, which shocked both Tiger King and the old Taoist priest, their eyes gleaming.
"how?"
The old Taoist priest asked the question, a hint of joy on his face.
"Do you still remember that old voice that said it could lead us out of here?"
Gu Yuan explained.
"But...where is it?"
The Tiger King asked, having searched more than once but finding no one else in the main hall.
The next second, the three of them fixed their gazes on the clay figure. Apart from themselves, this clay figure that had suddenly appeared was the only other person there.
"It...doesn't seem like a living thing."
After carefully sensing the situation, the old Taoist priest said this. Tiger King and Gu Yuan were not surprised by this answer, as they had also investigated it before.
"We must find the person hiding in the shadows; perhaps that's our only hope."
Gu Yuan frowned and said, "This is not a joke, but the truth. He had secretly tried to use the Void Gate earlier, but found that he could not teleport. Either this world is too special, or the sealing power is far greater than his, so the Void Gate cannot show its due power."
"Damn it."
The old Taoist cursed inwardly, directed at the aged voice. It had been chattering away and trying to trick people before, but now it was impossible to find it.
The Tiger King paused for a moment, stepped down from the pavilion, and whispered a few words to the other beast kings. Their eyes revealed a look of unwillingness, and they growled. Then they dispersed to search for "that person" hiding in the shadows.
"Hey kid, are you hot?"
The old Taoist priest looked suspicious, his eyes scanning Gu Yuan's face back and forth. The former stood motionless, his cheeks flushed, and beads of sweat dripping from his forehead, as if he were in a sauna. But the place was clearly cold and damp, so his behavior was really strange.
"Can you block it for me?"
Gu Yuan transmitted his voice in secret, sounding very urgent.
"Are you possessed by an evil spirit?"
A look of surprise flashed in the old Taoist's eyes, and he looked flustered. He stepped in front of the former and began to talk to himself, pretending to discuss the mysteries of clay figurines together.
Gu Yuan did not respond, but kept his eyes tightly closed and his breathing was very rapid. His divine sense entered his body and carefully explored every part of it.
"Not here."
The little figure formed from divine thought roamed within the body and discovered that the acupoints that had once been divine were now shining brightly, even more brilliantly than usual, but without emitting any heat.
He continued searching, but because the heat source was inside his body and spread throughout his entire body, it felt like he was being boiled in hot water, and he couldn't sense its exact location for a while.
In the end, Gu Yuan stopped at the location of the Sea of Bitterness, where an ancient bronze door floated up and down, burning like a blazing sun, so hot that it was impossible to approach.
"How could this happen?"
Gu Yuan was somewhat dazed. The Void Gate seemed to have been stimulated by something, becoming irritable and restless. If this continued, it would surely burn his body to ashes.
He awakened the Chaos Star Tree, wanting to ask for a solution, since both were world treasures and he understood them better.
Unexpectedly, the first person exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the scene. Although the voice was very young, it was clear that they were extremely shocked.
"It...it's...recovering on its own..."
"But I clearly didn't summon it?"
Gu Yuan was somewhat surprised, her face full of doubt.
"Something in the outside world seems to have stimulated it... and it even shares the same origin as it..."
Little Chaos pondered for a moment and then explained.
"Homologous substances?"
Gu Yuan was puzzled, his lips twitching as he muttered to himself, "This is simply impossible. You must know that the Void Gate was brought out by him from the Miniature World, how could it be of the same origin as the matter on Earth?"
It's simply unbelievable.
The little chaos couldn't explain it clearly for a while. It didn't know much about Earth yet, but it was certain that there must be a substance of the same origin as the Void Gate here. It emphasized that if it obtained that substance, it might be able to evolve the Void Gate, and perhaps even reveal its true form.
Gu Yuan was shocked. He hadn't expected that the Void Gate hadn't been fully unsealed yet, and that what it was showing now was just the tip of the iceberg!
"The world's most precious treasures cannot be judged by ordinary standards."
He whispered that the discovery was an unexpected delight, and it took him a long time to calm down.
However, upon closer reflection, it makes sense. After all, the Lesser Chaos can also evolve and is more wondrous than other supreme treasures, possessing its own divine consciousness. Perhaps the Void Gate can also possess divine thought after evolving.
Thinking of this, Gu Yuan smiled. In this way, the power of the treasure would surely be enhanced to another level.
He simply doesn't yet know what substance caused the Void Gate to resonate with him.
Is it the River Styx of the underworld? Or a clay figure, or perhaps those few terrifying drops of blood on the steps?
