Learning to Love Again

He calls for his bodyguards and they arrive in under thirty minutes.

With their help, he manages to break the door down before barging inside.

The first thing he sees when he walks in are the are maids drugged and sprawled on the floor.

A wave of dizziness takes over him, but he manages to remain awake. His eyes wander to the corner and he sees some type of gas leaking out from a small cylinder.

His blood turns cold at the sight of it.

"An incapacitating agent." One of the bodyguards grabs the cylinder and rushes out with it.

Han Yuan runs to the living room and sees Su Lian and her grandmother lying on the carpet with their arms tied behind their back. Both of them are also unconscious.

He rushes to her and unties her the scarves binding her wrists. "Get me water." He roars at his other bodyguards standing idly by. Startled, they run off in different directions.

"Lian..." He gently strokes her cheek and carries her in his arms.

He dabs a cold cloth dipped in water over her face to clean off her sweat.

With the gas out of the room, it doesn't take long for Su Lian and the others to wake up.

"Yichen!" She cries out the moment her eyes open.

Noticing that she is in Han Yuan's arms, she pushes herself out and breathes a sigh of relief.

She fixes her dress and looks up at him. "Where's Yichen?"

"..." Han Yuan opens his mouth but closes it back again.

Her head feels light. She can barely remember anything.

She wanted to go out to eat with Yichen today to take her mind off Han Yuan discovering his existence.

Why the hell did she wake up in his arms?

Looking around, there is no sign of Su Yichen and she sees her grandmother lying on the couch across from her with a blanket on top of her to keep her warm. "Wh-what happened?"

One of his bodyguards run back. "I've checked the security footage. It was Shen Xun. She knocked everyone out and took the boy."

Hearing the report, Su Lian grips Han Yuan's arm. "Who is Shen Xun? Where is my son?"

Han Yuan throws a dangerous look towards the bodyguard who just blabbed, but he doesn't reply to her. "Gather, all the units. Make sure you find her. I'm giving you twenty minutes."

Not getting a reply, Su Lian punches his chest. "Han Yuan, answer me. Where is my son!"

"Calm down, first." He holds her writs lightly. "You just woke up. Were you injured?"

She throws his hand away and glares fiercely at him. "Tell me what happened. Where is Yichen?"

"You should tell me. How can someone just break into your home? Don't you have security?"

Su Lian rubs her forehead in confusion. "I do have security. I have an alarm system and cameras everywhere."

"Why do you only have an alarm system and cameras for security? That isn't enough, you should at least have bodyguards." Han Yuan looks at her seriously. "I'll assign some to you."

"Don't change the subject. Where's my son."
