Liam finally decided to leave Cerulean City to head back to Vermillion City in order to take the Dark Cave now that they had a Pokemon that could light it up. He had used the bicycle voucher to receive a bike their from the shop to make his travels faster. On his way back he met with a strange trainer and he addressed himself as Yellow but Liam knew that it was a girl disguised as a boy so he just accepted her challenge as practice for his Pokemon.

Her first Pokemon was a Geodude, so Liam sent out Pupitar. Geodude used Rock Throw which Pupitar quickly used Rock Throw against him but since he was a higher level Pupitars Rock Throw smashed into his and went straight for it and knocked out her Geodude. She was surprised by how strong this Pupitar was and didn't even know what kind of Pokemon it was until she had her Pokedex describe it but the picture from her Pokedex was different from the one she saw in front of her.

She decided not to pry into his business and she sent her next Pokemon Rattata which Pupitar quickly defeated, at this point she knew that he wasn't her match so she decided to end the battle and let them have the win. Liam was disappointed that she didn't send out the rest of her Pokemon but he understood that she was fighting a losing battle, so they went their separate ways but before that they chatted a little bit.

Liam gave her some advice on how to raise her Pokemon and she accepted it and thanked Liam. Liam continue to travel and after a few days they're finally arrived at Vermillion City. They had trained and battled a couple of trainers along the way which slow down their pace. Everybody had leveled up and even Charmander was slowly getting used to the training.

When they got to Vermillion City Liam drop them all off at the Pokemon center to be healed and groomed and he went about his business to just relax, he was going to visit the Pokemon fan club but he changed his mind after thinking about how the president talked too much so he just relaxed around the city until the next day when he resupplied on items and gathered his Pokemon to start this new journey to a new city.

Liam battled a lot of trainers along the way using Charmander and eventually Charmander had evolve into a Charmeleon during a heated battle with a slowpoke. Slowpoke kept using water gun and confusion which put Charmander in quite a disadvantage, until Charmander started to Glow an evolved into a Charmeleon and he was able to push him back using Flamethrower and Slash giving Liam the win.

They eventually reached the entrance to the Dark Cave, and just as they were about to enter the cave Liam heard somebody shouting at him so he stopped and turned around and noticed that it was the man that he had faced before in the beginning of his journey with the powerful Pidgeot. Liam quickly ran up to him and asked him how he was doing and that he was sorry that he had just run off the last time they battled.

Liam introduced himself and the man also introduced himself has Brown. Brown asked how Shadow was doing and whether he had gotten stronger. Liam puffed his c.h.e.s.t out and said he was ready for a rematch which caused Brown to chuckle and say that he's still imm.a.t.u.r.e. Liam frowned and asked "how can you tell ",Brown didn't say anything and just took out his pokeball and brought Pidgeot out.

Liam sent out Charmeleon just to get experience with battling a strong opponent. Brown asked why this Charmeleon was black, but all Liam could do was shrug because he didn't know this guy that well enough to tell him his secrets, so the battle started with Charmeleon attacking with a Flamethrower right away. As soon as Pidgeot saw the Flamethrower coming her way she just used a powerful gust to blow the Flamethrower away.

The Flamethrower backtracked back to Charmeleon with the Gust lifting him up into the air where Pidgeot was waiting for him and just used Peck to knock him out. Liam returned him after praising him that he did good facing her. Liam then brought out his Pupitar and he started the battle using Harden to up his defense.

Pidgeot just used Quick Attack disappearing and attacking Pupitar from the back. The attack was so heavy that Pupitar almost fainted but he held on tight and started to turn into his devil form until Liam warned him not to, so Pupitar gradually just stayed in his original form and used Flamethrower at Pidgeot.

Pidgeot used Wing Attack while dodging the Flamethrower and knocked Pupitar out. Brown was impressed this time because Pupitar was able to take his attack being such a low-level Pokemon compared to his Pidgeot. Liam return Pupitar and then sent out his Dragonair. Brown was amused at Liam because had so many shiny Pokemon that he had never seen before and thought that he was quite interesting.

Dragonair started to use Rain Dance and thunder clouds started to appear out of nowhere. Brown was fascinated by this outcome and just watched as Dragonair got ready to use a Thunder attack. Dragonair cried out to the sky releasing a Thunderbolt into the thunder clouds and a huge Thunder came flashing down at Pidgeot. Pidgeot had used Agility while Dragonair was getting ready for the Thunder attack, so she was able to dodge the attack quickly.

As soon as Pidgeot dodged it she saw a huge Hydro Pump coming her way, she couldn't dodge that because it was way too fast and it seemed like it was planned ahead so all she can do was use Steel Wing to defend from the attack but the Hydro Pump Dragonair released knocked Pidgeot right into the thundercloud which also unleashed some electricity on Pidgeot causing her to be paralyzed and fall into the ground.

Dragonair rushed up with a Dragon Rush attack and attacked Pidgeot strongly in the stomach before she fell on the ground causing a lot of damage to her but she still hadn't fainted which confused Liam because he unleashed several strong attacks on her but she was still struggling to get up from the ground.

Brown said that's enough playing around buddy let's finish this Dragonair off. Pidgeot picked herself up and quickly released the electricity that was paralyzing her by spreading her wings, and had started to turn golden. Liam was shocked at this Pidgeot that was able to come out of the paralyzation just from stretching out her wings.
