Bai Yao thought he just really enjoyed the company of his tail, but when the restaurant opens and he has to retract his tail, Mu Mu’er still follows him around with sparkling eyes.

Still, he’s too busy cooking to investigate. While cooking, Mu Mu’er stands patiently by his side. When he’s delivering meals, Mu Mu’er waits for him in the kitchen, and when he comes back, the little guy immediately approaches to say, “Yaoyao, Mu’er wants to kiss again.”

Bai Yao messes around with Mu Mu’er’s soft hair, “what’chu mumblin’ about?”

Mu Mu’er didn’t notice him coming in, and yelps while turning around, only to smile seeing him and say, “gasp! Boyfriend! Mu’er’s boyfriend!”

Man, can he ever be more adorkable.

When they shower later at night, Mu Mu’er is crouching in front of the bathroom door for Bai Yao to finish, as usual.

Just before they sleep at eleven-thirty, Bai Yao is sitting up on the bed, messaging Qi Ya.

Earlier that night, he sent a message that his work is going to be over soon, and he’ll get a proper no-take-backsies holiday of a whole month in two weeks. He wants to plan a trip, and he’ll be visiting Bai Yao in Qiaohai for the first few days.

Thanks to their workload being lighter during winter when their conservation agency’s field trips dwindle down. He can expect some downtime until spring breaks.

Back in Xishi’s hotel, Bai Yao has promised Qi Ya to go on a trip together when his work is done. Since the tourist season wouldn’t fire up again until Christmas, he can safely close the restaurant for a few days as a holiday for himself, too.

With his attention on the phone, Bai Yao only notices Mu Mu’er’s passionate gaze after a while of messaging back and forth with Qi Ya. He notices Mu Mu’er has pulled the blanket up until his eyes, and is now staring at him with fire.

He is reminded of a little marmot breaking through ground for the first time and is now looking excitedly about the new world.

Great, now he has to hold in a laughter again.

Is he really still that excited about being boyfriends after an entire day of that?

Still, it’s time to sleep. He shuts his phone’s screen and throws it aside, then pinches the boy’s cheeks a few times, before planting a kiss on his forehead.

“Close your eyes. Time to sleep.”

Bai Yao, though, still leaning against the pillow and not yet lying down, suddenly finds Mu Mu’er lunging onto him like a fierce little lion. The little guy wraps an arm around Bai Yao’s waist and sticks close to him.

“More kisses,” Mu Mu’er plants his face onto Bai Yao’s, brushing past gently, “more hugs with Yaoyao.”

Holy, the cuteness! It’s so cute he’s in pain.

Before Bai Yao can do anything, Mu Mu’er is already sitting on him, nudging forward, finding a comfortable place to sit between Bai Yao’s legs, and settles down to kiss.

He’s quite new to all this, of course, making his kisses more like lips grazing past. He doesn’t know to puff his lips out or to extend his tongue, but is just planting lips together, and then staying there.

Bai Yao finds himself distracted with more praises for this Mu Mu’er.

This must be his little angel from the heavens. Why else would he have come to him, of all the people far better suited to him than he is?

There must have been a clerical mistake, he thinks, but now that he’s his, he’s his. No one can take him away from him. No one.

Mu Mu’er tries to bury himself inside Bai Yao’s lap, sneaking his hand under Bai Yao’s clothes, and then his own head, like he’s suddenly been possessed by a little kangaroo. He’s brushing his cheeks on Bai Yao’s abs.

Bai Yao finds himself chuckling at the sensation and the sight of a tummy a few months along, “what’s with the digging?”

Mu Mu’er’s voice is muffled, the air out breezing past Bai Yao’s skin, “to be closer… more kisses.”

To be honest, Bai Yao also wants the thing that Mu Mu’er almost inadvertently committed, but he doesn’t think the little guy is prepared. It’d be terrible if he hurt him, and even worse if he ends up taking advantage of his ignorance. They’ve only just decided to be together, he doesn’t need to rush.

Bai Yao sighs, and quickly retrieves the boy from beneath his clothes. He caresses his head, and tries to secure him by his side, “enough kisses for today. Next time.”

“Why not? Yaoyao, not want to kiss Mu’er anymore?” He moves his head towards Bai Yao’s mouth again, “more… more kisses. Mu’er wants.”

Though Bai Yao doesn’t kiss him anymore, so Mu Mu’er frowns a little. He then hugs Bai Yao’s neck instead while burying his head in the man’s broad shoulders.

Bai Yao pushes the little guy by the waist, “let go, babe. Time to sleep.”

Mu Mu’er shakes his head, though, and continues burrowing, his hair itching Bai Yao’s neck as they continue to scrape.
