Loving You: A Blessing or a Curse?

Liu Yumei was out at a spa with some friends getting facials done when she got a message from her favourite and only daughter.

LILI: 'Mom, dad, you have a grandchild.'

After reading it, Liu Yumei's phone accidentally slips out of her hands and she nearly falls off the spa chair.

"Yumei, are you okay?" Her friend sitting beside her asks in concern.

"Yes- yes, I'm fine."

Liu Yumei picks her phone back up and sits straight. With trembling hands, she replies to her daughter's text.

MOM: 'What do you mean?'

LILI: 'Yuan has a child'

MOM: 'How? when?'

LILI: 'He's the scum of the earth. He got a woman pregnant and then broke her heart. The poor girl was left to be a single mother.'

MOM: 'What?'

By now, Liu Yumei was fuming in anger.

Her son actually abandoned his child despite knowing how much she wants grandkids. All of her friends are already grandparents and she has been jealous for nothing. After everything she's done for him, he dares to do this to her.

What an ingrate.

More importantly, he left the woman and child without taking responsibility. She raised him better than that.

MOM: 'I'm going to kill that boy.'

LILI: 'No, don't confront him yet. There is more to the story. I'll tell you once I get home.'

MOM: 'Well okay.'

LILI: 'Is dad with you?'

MOM: 'No, he went to lunch with some friends, I'm at a spa.'

LILI: 'Good, don't tell him either since your not together, he's too impulsive.'

MOM: 'Tell me the child's gender and age.'

LILI: 'It's a boy and he's about three years old.'

MOM: 'Who is the child's mother? Is she someone I know?'

LILI: 'Yes you just met her recently, it's Su Lian.'

Liu Yumei's fingers pause over the screen of her phone. She does not know how to reply.

She finds it hard to believe that such a coincidence can actually occur. This is all too improbable.

MOM; 'Is it April fool's day? Are you trying to trick me?'

LILI: 'I'm telling the truth, I swear.'

Han Lili stealthily takes a picture of Su Yichen and sends it to her mother.

LILI: 'Believe me now?'

Liu Yumei stares at the screen in complete shock and amazement.

Shiny, black hair, bright green eyes, slightly chubby cheeks and the spitting image of her son.

The adorable little boy is actually her grandchild?

MOM: 'Okay, I believe you. He's such a beautiful child.'

Han Lili feels smug after reading her mother's reply. Of course her nephew is beautiful. He has her blood flowing through his veins.

LILI: 'I'll be home in about two hours. See you then.'

MOM: 'Bring him over when you come. He and his mother should move in with us before we start planning the wedding.'

LILI: 'No mom, you're gonna scare them away.'

MOM: 'I'll be good, I promise.'

LILI: 'Another time.'

Su Lian glances at Han Lili who has been texting with urgency for the past ten minutes. "Is everything alright?"

"Ah yes, it's just a small family crisis Everything is fine now."
