234. Absolutely Up to No Good

Luo Wu was filled with excitement after hearing the two men’s words. If it weren’t for the fact that he had performed a lot of tasks as a scout before, he would have blown his cover due to his mood swings.

“Are you stupid? Given the magnitude of the losses, the First Prince would sure as hell be informed very soon. I can’t believe you’re thinking of wasting the First Prince’s time with a matter like this. Do you think our heads are indestructible or something?!” the first speaker snapped. “If only we could find out who the Second Prince is hiding in his tent.”

“We wouldn’t have been here if we’re capable of doing that.” The other man’s voice was nonchalant. “The Second Prince knows from the very beginning we work for the First Prince, which is why he’s so guarded with us and never tell us anything. Last night he summoned only those he trusted the most. There’s no way he’ll let us know.”

The two men inside the tent were casting around for a way to get information about the person in the prince’s tent, but for Luo Wu, their conversation had provided him with enough information. He walked around the encampment and found out which tent belonged to Ashina Yi without asking anybody, for the tent was so heavily guarded that the occupant could have been the Turkish emperor.

Luo We stood outside the tent, his eyes inscrutable. He was pondering why Ashina Yi forced Du Chuxuan to stay in the tent. There was no doubt that the one who came here last night and was now imprisoned in the tent was Du Chuxuan. Though Luo Er had consummate kung fu as well, Luo Wu believed that Luo Er didn’t have what it took to do something like that.

Clearly, he couldn’t get the answer by merely thinking. He had no way to gain entry into the tent. He could perceive that Ashina Yi who was in the tent was a better fighter than him. If he intruded into the tent precipitously, Ashyna Yi would definitely be alarmed. If the Turkish prince did Du Chuxuan harm, Luo Wu would feel guilty about it for the rest of his life.

The sun was setting. Five people were kneeling on the ground in a row. The crowd around them was even larger than it had been in the morning. Clearly, some other members of Sect Luo had arrived from places further away. There were actually over fifty people now. Everybody’s eyes were glinting anxiously. They were eager to get some important information.

“If you got some important information to share, share it. We don’t have much time.” The captain broke the silence and stepped out. Apart from him, there was another captain present, but he had arrived here first and thus knew more about the situation, so everybody acquiesced in his leadership in this task.

The others, naturally, raised no objections. Nobody would compete against him for temporary leadership. Luo Ling was the first one to speak. “I’ve found out that our sect chief tried to get some winter clothes for the crown prince’s soldiers. A reliable source told me that those winter clothes had been transferred to Sanyuan City already. I think the problem of supplies has been solved.

“But the Turkish emperor is very angry about it. He’s sent the First Prince here. I think Ashina Yi, the Second Prince, will soon no longer have the final say in everything.” Everybody present gasped at the news, but not because they were afraid of Ashina Fei’s capabilities.

It was because they were all aware that Ashina Yi and Ashina Fei had always been on bad terms with each other, and recently members of Sect Luo had been keeping a close eye on Manlou. Naturally, they had gained some information about the one at Manlou’s back. That person was actually related to the Turkish imperial clan, and Ashina Fei was the only one in the imperial family whom the old emperor trusted.

Ashina Fei entering the battlefield, naturally, was very beneficial to Yuxing Tianrui, but it might not necessarily be a good thing for these members of Sect Luo who were planning to take advantage of the situation to achieve their ends.

Luo Wu’s face changed slightly as well at the news. “It seems we need to speed things up a little. It’s only a three-day ride from the Turkish capital to this city. I’m afraid Ashina Fei will arrive before the reinforcements from our capital city do. More imporantly, this means we’ll have to rescue our sect chief before Ashina Fe’s arrival.”

“Why?” the captain blurted. Considering that Ashina Fei and Ashina Yi detested each other, they would definitely come into conflict when they met, and when they did, the situation in the encampment would be quite chaotic, which would be their best chance to carry out their plan. Was the captain keeping something back from them?

“The information I’ve collected suggest that last night, for some unknown reason, someone spent the night in Ashina Yi’s tent. Judging from the time of the occurrence, I think that’s our sect chief, but due to my ineptitude, I failed to find out why the Second Prince of Turk did that to our sect chief, so I didn’t dare make any rash moves.

“But that proves there’s definitely enmity between the two Turkish princes. If Ashina Yi doesn’t have what it takes to protect our sect chief from his brother, our sect chief would be in even greater danger.” After hearing his words, everybody knitted their brows. None of them could have foreseen that things would come to this.

The two captains’ eyes met. After they pondered for a while, one of them made a decision. “We take action tonight. Now I want you guys to draw a map of the Turkish encampment for us, and I want details of their disposition of troops as well.” Knowing that their service was no longer needed, Luo Ling and Luo Wu walked to the side.

All members of Sect Luo were told their respective duties and they worked with high efficiency. As they each had their own specialty, they had never wasted any time during the assignment of tasks. When everything was in readiness, night had fallen. The captain stepped out and said, “Whoever finds our sect chief is to send out a red signal.

“Whoever rescues our sect chief will be the hero of Sect Luo and handsomely rewarded. If it comes to a choice between our sect chief and Luo Er, I believe the latter will understand our choice.” He took a deep breath, and nobody raised any objections.

After a glance at the new moon in the sky, the captain divided the others into four teams, and then they departed, each team heading in a different direction.

They hoped that when the moon set and the sun rose, they would be able to bring back the one they wanted to rescue. The fifty sect members were all willing to sacrifice their own lives to make that happen.

If someone wrote down their thoughts, it would probably become a widespread touching story someday.

In the Turkish encampment, Du Chuxuan opened his eyes and saw Ashina Yi sitting at his bedside with knitted brows. He opened his mouth to speak only to find his whole body unbearably sore. It was as if he had been crushed. He couldn’t even speak now.
