MC's career as foreign lord

Chapter 11 A Big Fish (Ten Thousand Rewards and More)

The bow and arrow are quite simple. The bow and arrow in MC are the very basic wooden bow, but its power is not small at all.

Look at the arrows shot by those skeletons; any random arrow is embedded nearly half a meter into the ground. If that were to hit someone… tsk tsk, I dare not imagine it.

Making it is naturally not difficult. To make a bow and arrow, you only need string and wooden sticks. Zhou Ren took out three strings and placed them in a row on the far right of the workbench, then placed three wooden sticks on the left, arranging them in the shape of a bow. After that, a simple bow and arrow was synthesized.

The fishing rod is the same; place three wooden sticks diagonally, and then put two threads underneath to synthesize it.

However, even if the bow is synthesized, it can only be placed there. Making arrows requires wooden sticks, flint, and feathers. Zhou Ren only has wooden sticks. Although there is gravel on the mountain not far away, the gravel can be broken into flint, but the efficiency is too low.

Zhou Ren was thinking, would it be effective if he directly bought ready-made flint in the town? After all, compared to flint in MC, the actual cost of flint and even arrows in reality is much lower.

The same goes for feathers. The number of feathers from killing chickens is too small. If it really needs to be achieved through breeding, I am afraid that the remaining wasteland will have to be used as chicken farms.

So, when tomorrow comes, let Henry help collect these materials. The town is so big, collecting some feathers shouldn't take too much effort.

Zhou Ren increasingly felt that he should find a few underlings. Doing everything himself, his energy would not allow it. He just didn't know if ordinary people could be granted MC's work permissions, or if there would be any cost.

He casually hung the bow and arrow on the wall. He made some wooden supports to hang things, and now he could hang up his extra clothes as well.

Zhou Ren took off the black robe he had been wearing for three days. Although it was still as clean as new, his obsession with cleanliness still felt quite strong. He put on a light blue mage robe again. There wasn't much change; it was like changing a skin.

"Sure enough, the skin system still exists!" Zhou Ren said. After this piece of clothing was worn on his body, some of the small dust and gravel that originally appeared were cleared in the next moment, becoming clean and beautiful, even brighter than other clothes.

And the black robe hanging in place still did not get rid of this state, pushing the dust under his feet to the side, as if it had its own clean halo.

"Can I sell original mage robes now? With the skill [Dust-Free Zone]?" Zhou Ren complained casually, hung up the other clothes in categories, and prepared to go out with the fishing rod.

Clothes are not actually the key. He is still wearing leather armor. When he has time, he can also test how the armor's defense is achieved. Now, naturally, he wants to rest.

The sky is already approaching dusk. Another day is about to pass, but at least the surroundings are still peaceful and quiet, and not many monsters appear. Then, slowly enjoy this peaceful and quiet atmosphere!

He is now going to the river to try fishing. He remembers that fishing in MC is truly omnipotent. In addition to fish, he has fished up strange things such as horse armor, saddles, reins, armor, name tags, enchanted books, and so on. His friends can even fish for a whole day with a fishing rod.

"I don't know if the fishing method here is the same as the fishing I understand?" Zhou Ren guessed, taking an oak staircase to the river.

The game and reality are still somewhat different. For example, in reality, Zhou Ren can sit comfortably on a small stool and fish leisurely, while Steve in the game can only stand and fish. The difference is obvious!

"Hiss! The wilderness is a bit cold at night!" Zhou Ren touched his arms, feeling as if he had been scanned by some gaze. Ah, this, the creator god Steve wouldn't be so petty, would he?

He silently glanced at the river. The night is still calm and peaceful. He has been sitting for almost five minutes. Why hasn't he caught a single fish?

"Could it be because there is no bait?" Zhou Ren thought, but then he thought it didn't seem right. He usually doesn't use bait when fishing in MC?

"Why not just pull it back and take a look?" As a senior lurker in the fishing forum, Zhou Ren suddenly had a bad feeling. Could he be skunked today?

Just as he was wondering, a not-so-big ripple suddenly appeared on the water, but it rushed straight towards the direction of the hook!

"Here it comes!" Zhou Ren immediately perked up, grabbed the fishing rod, and was very excited. This is his first fish in this world, very educational!

"Swish!" In the next moment, he felt a huge force coming from his hand, and then his body left his small stool and flew into the river.

Zhou Ren shouted, "Oh! Oh oh oh oh oh!" He was actually being pulled across the water by a fish?

Alright, Zhou Ren did not resist and simply dropped the fishing rod, and then his whole body fell into the water from mid-air with a splash, and finally regained control of his body.

He struggled back to the shore, shaking off the water droplets on his body. Because of the existence of the skin system, he dried quickly.

"Where is this?" Although he was still in his territory, Zhou Ren couldn't recognize the way after being pulled by the fish for such a short few tens of seconds. The huge forest blocked his view, preventing him from seeing the wasteland.

After thinking for a while and reviewing it carefully, he discovered the huge difference between himself and Steve.

First of all, he himself doesn't usually fish much. Most of it is done by his friends. He knows very little about fishing.

Secondly, Steve, as a creature, possesses strength that ordinary people cannot match. Not to mention fish, even holding 64 gold blocks in his hand is like playing, unlike him, who has to pant twice even when holding a hoe.

Finally, the fish in the game are actually not creatures that exist in the river. Most of them are fish automatically generated by the fishing system, and what he saw in that fleeting glance was a ferocious-looking magical fish!

"Alas!" Zhou Ren sighed again, suddenly feeling that he was very unsuccessful, but he quickly cheered up and took out the wooden planks to make a workbench by the river. At the same time, he also built a simple pier.

He wouldn't pass through the forest at night. There could be too many unexpected events. He decided to build a boat.

Placing five wooden planks in the shape of a boat on the workbench, he could harvest a wooden boat with two crank handles. Zhou Ren packed up his things and threw the wooden boat into the water.

Then he jumped directly onto the small wooden boat, grabbed the crank handles of the two paddles, and began to go upstream.

MC's boat does have its advantages. For instance, its speed remains constant whether going upstream or downstream, unaffected by the river's currents.

Zhou Ren spent about twenty minutes going against the current and finally saw his little stool and the fishing rod stuck in it.

"Huh? Why is the fishing rod here? Where's my fish?" He was quite surprised. He rowed to the shore, built a dock, parked the boat, and hurried to check the situation.

Things were indeed strange. He clearly dropped the fishing rod in the river. Could this fishing rod be soul-bound? That doesn't make sense!

"This is unreasonable!" Zhou Ren said. He searched around and actually found the fish, dropped in a temporary pool he had built not far away.

It was a huge, strange fish, half his size. It had a dark gray exterior and four tentacle-like organs, and it emitted a very strong stench!

As Zhou Ren approached, the fish suddenly stood up and was about to let out a howl, but luckily, he was cautious and immediately took out his shield to block it.

The invisible howl actually slammed into the shield with a "Bang!", making a dull sound.

Zhou Ren immediately became vigilant, took out cobblestone, and surrounded the entire pool, adding several layers until he couldn't see what was inside.

"I don't know what this strange thing is. Maybe I should ask someone next time?" Zhou Ren thought, carrying the fishing rod back to the house.

The iron ingots and glass in the furnace were ready. He also spent some time installing glass in every room, making his house look much more comfortable.

"Forget it, I'll sleep first and deal with it tomorrow!" Zhou Ren lay back on the bed and fell into a deep sleep the next second.

At this moment, the strange fish in the pool finally calmed down, no longer howling, not knowing if it was tired or what.

However, some uninvited guests arrived at the entrance of the territory at this moment.

Some people, disheveled but not quite like beggars, gathered here and whispered at the door.

"Are you sure this is the place? The place where that out-of-towner lives? This is outside the protection zone of the town guards!"

"What do you know? It costs money in the protection zone. It's cheaper here!"

"I heard this out-of-towner doesn't seem to be short of money. He spent a gold coin twice with that unlucky Henry!"

Hearing about the gold coin, several people around showed greedy expressions. "I heard that this out-of-towner spent hundreds of gold coins to buy this place!"

"Hundreds! Enough for us to eat for a lifetime!" The greedy expressions on the faces of these loafers became even more intense, seemingly impossible to hide.

"Today, let's sneak in and see if there are any good things lying around while the out-of-towner is asleep. Anyway, he's alone and can't possibly guard it all!"

"If he reacts and asks the guards to help watch, we won't have a chance in the future!" The leader coaxed and frightened them, seemingly arousing their desires and greed.

Finally, he warned: "Don't think about attacking that out-of-towner. We're just stealing things. If he wakes up, we can't afford the anger of a professional, understand?"

Everyone nodded silently. They all knew what was up. Those who didn't were buried in the alley during the day. Now there's no one to vent on.

Not only that, but I heard that the merchant who planned this, the head of the guides, ran to Val City overnight with the money, seemingly afraid of this lord's revenge!

They are just some people who rely on their own strength to mess around here. How could they really provoke the other party?

They just want to take advantage of the out-of-towner's sleep to steal some good things from his territory. As long as there is something good, they will make a fortune!

Everyone immediately dispersed and crawled forward, seemingly wanting to separate so that even if someone was caught, others would have a chance to escape.

These fearless vagrants are actually the most troublesome existence for Locke in this town.

This group is composed of bankrupt households, noble slaves, and some non-productive farmers' sons. As locals, they largely represent the region's martial strength and social tendencies—if there are no professionals.

But in the eyes of the mercenaries hired by the town chief, these wastes combined are probably not as threatening as an ordinary Gnoll tribe, so quickly, these guys without real estate, shops, or income became vagrants who have a home but wander everywhere.

Working as guides at the entrance of the town is one of their few legitimate jobs, which of course also gives them some opportunities to seize wealth!

Although most out-of-towners are not easy to mess with, and they can't beat them, there are always some people who are confident in their martial strength and rashly move in without being familiar with the town's environment, and naturally, this group teaches them a lesson with their superb stealing skills.

It is also because this place is remote, and there is no belief in the God of Thieves or the God of Bandits, otherwise, they might transform into anchors of the gods in this world, that is, priests.

Having said so much, this group of local thieves has already approached Zhou Ren's territory. They quietly lurked in the corners of the shadows, waiting for the moonlight to completely dissipate before continuing to move forward.

"Damn it, this is really seeing ghosts! Why is there a wall here?" A scolding sound suddenly came from somewhere, and everyone was awe-stricken. They were familiar with this voice. It was the leader who had just spoken!

The crowd looked over there with some admiration. As expected of the leader, they were still running in the wilderness, and he had already come inside and bumped into the wall?

Thinking this way, they couldn't help but start to speed up. The flames were not close to here, and they had to leave here before dawn. They couldn't walk too slowly!

Then there were successive crashing sounds!

"Bang!"

"Slap!"

"Bump!"

"Ouch!" A group of people covered their heads, looking innocently at the space in front of them. Now they finally knew what the sentence just now meant. It was really seeing ghosts!

PS: My manuscript!! Mooncake you... forget it, I won't scold you, there's also a ten thousand reward tomorrow... Ah! Sad!
