My Groom Ran Away

Ruan ZhiYin pretended she didn’t hear it and closed her eyes.

A staff member to her right and to her left slowly opened the heavy doors in front of her.

In the banquet hall, the lights slowly dimmed and the sounds of talking ceased.

The venue was decorated in a dreamy but romantic manner. There were soft rainbow curved lights that were nestled among the flowers next to the stage. It made it seem as though the sky was full of stars and they were as gorgeous as butterflies. The flower clusters were fresh and delicate, they left a lingering fragrance of flowers that tickled the tip of your nose. It was as though you had stepped into a dreamy forest at night.

A gentle beam of light lit up the stage and Cheng YueLin’s face looked as though it had picked up a bit of gentleness. He wore an elegant dark suit and quietly stood out of the guests’ range of sight.

The door to the walkway had already been opened. Ruan ZhiYin looked directly at the groom and walked forward step by step.

This scene was just as she had imagined for so many years.

There were two flower children dressed neatly in a little suit and a little dress. As they walked forward, they scattered flower petals. They were a pair of dragon and phoenix twins that Ye YanChu had borrowed from her aunt’s house.

TL Note: Is it necessary to say something about how dragon and phoenix twins are supposed to be very lucky in Chinese culture? Also the term for “borrowed” is more like “stolen”/”grabbed”. I’m not sure if I should just leave it as borrowed or go for a stronger word.

After having his face completely covered in the petals that the children were tossing, Second Young master Xu was the first to react after being in a daze he muttered: “Wait. Why is there a groom? Am I seeing things right? Isn’t that Cheng YueLin?!”

Young Master, who was sitting next to Xu Fei, opened his eyes wide and softly grunted in agreement. “Tsk, Are the Qin and Ruan families taking turns in messing with us today? The groom was heartless enough to be missing for his wedding day, but who would have thought that the bride would have been more ruthless. She directly switched out the groom. Amazing.”

Xu Fei frowned. He felt that that was such a piece of old history. When these two people saw each other previously, there wasn’t much issue?

He thought that in his heart, but he still asked without any shame: “Even if they don’t get along, so what?”

Wang Xin’s face looked like it was full of secrets. He grabbed a hand and reached over to pull Xu Fei’s ear closer. His tone was exceptionally solemn–

“He. Is. Here. To. Steal. The. Bride!”

“Never offend Cheng YueLin. Can’t you see. He actually remembered a grudge from a feather duster for 20 years! You gave me a beating and in 20 years I’ll come steal your wife! He’s really just too ruthless!”

Xu Fei suddenly understood and then he nodded with a deep conviction: “Okay then. It seemed that we cannot offend Cheng YueLin. Ruan ZhiYin…”

“I said that you’re an idiot. Do you still not understand? Even after loving a man for seven or eight years. With just a word, she abandoned him. Changing the groom at this wedding is ruthlessly slapping the Qin family in the face. It completely cuts off any future possibilities with Qin Jue. A woman who can cut things off so completely is really ruthless!”

After Wang Xin finished speaking he pouted a bit: “But the most ruthless thing is that she married Cheng YueLin. Do you still remember how bad their relationship was before? Sigh, why couldn’t Ruan ZhiYin have thought a bit further and considered this young master.”

He didn’t really want to admit it but back in the day, he had a crush on Ruan ZhiYin.

Ruan ZhiYin was very pretty and there were lots of people who liked her in senior high. But she was too obedient and she also had the status of Qin Jue’s fiancee. She also didn’t get along with Cheng YueLin.
