The seven men stayed out of sight masked by the fog, as soon as they confirmed they had allies they let down some guards but there was more to come.
In the sky, something bizarrely eerie flew up as if waiting for an opportunity to pounce on them. It was tiny but black, Jae joon squinted his eyes on it and shot an arrow. To the relief of the men, it fell in an anticipated velocity, but as it drew closer their eyes widened in disbelief.
It was but a mere kite?
Number four stealthily left to investigate who flew the kite on the signal of the old ajusshi while prince Song's men suspiciously examined the fallen kite with an arrow. Whoever shot it down was pushed back to the back of their mind as the little kite seemed to have wordings on it. White words visible to the eyes were strongly imprinted on the kite, such powerful strokes spoke of skill and strength.
'In a place rife with boulders ask the head' the words read.
Ask the head? What does that mean?
Jae joon who kept his eyes fixed on the men felt the message was awkward.
On the other part of the arena, number four arrived to a fleeing back of what should be assumed an intruder. He gave a stealthy but hot chase only to conclude it was a mere illusion, no human can flee with such speed or momentum, but as he investigated further he found a loose shred of cloth lying on the frozen ground.
Assumptions and disbelief shrouded his mind as the nostalgic smell hit his nose strongly.
Blue moons? Is it possible that the secret sect whose very existence elicited terror to mere mortals had returned?
Extinction had been synonymously used with the name which could only be heard in legends, but an artifact of them with their signature cobalt half-moon was right in his hands.
He had to report the findings.
Prince Song took the kite and examined the wordings, but what could it possibly mean?
The six arrows couldn't see the words but luck was still on their side as Prince Song voiced it out as a question, his confused expression was enough to indicate the meaninglessness of the information.
A one time scholar who had become a soldier due to his love for arms and fight took the letter from him , his gaze spoke of one whose intention was to find the answer. Squatting on the frozen ground, he draw on the ground with the tip of his sword some incomprehensible words.
"You know what it is ?" Song asked with obvious anticipation etched on his face.
"Not what, who, " the scholar said.
"The information is hidden in the message but finding the clues is the real work." He paused then looked up at Song.
"Who is the king of this area?"
Song looked amusingly at him, "Is that a real question?"
Woo Hoo, the scholar shook his head in disapproval, "I meant, who is the alpha of the frozen jungle?"
"White bear" he replied absent-mindedly.
Jae joon and his men looked on below them as realization dawned on some; to find a clue, a wait for the bear has to commence, but will there be any left as there were at the brim of extinction?
...
With a sweet and sultry smile, she persuaded him to allow her sightsee . Pretending to be lost in her world, she wandered off to the point from where her suspicion seeped.
It was a body of water, alright? but there was something about it that unsettled her being.
The island was extremely cold yet it never froze. Tiny flakes formed thin lines on her brows and skin, a clear assertion the weather was freezing, yet clear water ran in a strangely unperturbed manner.
What could this be?
Dipping her slender fingers into it, her turbulent heart faltered further causing an escalation of sucked in air.
It was neither a lake nor an island, rather it was a strange technology, such that she has never seen!
"What exactly is the place?" her heart beeped but cardiac echoes filtered into her ears.
She scrutinized her environment for the spying eyes of her captors but found them inattentive. Seems they doubt the possibility of her escape as their trust laid in their strange technology.
Humming inaudible tunes, she sauntered back to house. There must be blueprint, a sketch of some kind which could explain that which she saw outside.
"What took you so long?" a deep unsettling voice startled her.
"Oppa, can I have some more rice?"
A quizzical expression which said 'You just had rice not long ago" gazed at her , nonetheless, he left to get more food not suspecting the guileless child who looked on innocently at his face, had her hands deep in her sleeves, a hideous and contemptuous smile gracing the corner of her lips.
....
Magnificent in size, pristinely white furs, nozzles as black as charcoal and otherworld beauty emerged with unearthly wail. It could weigh few hundreds of pounds as it sole mark made a deep impression.
A grizzly bear whose huge hump looked strong; strong enough to uproot a tree walked majestically on all fours towards the boulder. Pausing for a while, it raised it's front paw for a generous lick and proceeded to the next one. Giving a pleasure wail, it continued it's leisure walk towards his favorite place.
The men who were either lost in their world of amazement or fear, stilled their breath to remain unnoticed.
The seven arrows weren't left behind as a special rarity graced their visage. With hands trained on their weapons, they looked down with keen alertness and awe of the specimen.
It was truly a sight to behold! and great wonder of nature.
With danger seemingly lessened, the hands trained on their weapons relaxed.
