Without a second to spare

I throw my body into the air

Reaching out to the falling stone

When it is released from its captor

Like a demon to save an angel

Its wings charred from battle

And as the ritual begins

The little girl prepared to gift herself

To the creatures in the skies

In her reluctant last breaths

The magic of the ceremony unfolds

As my body wraps over itself

The stone clenched to my ċhėst

As I roll over the head of the child

And plant my feet on the ground again

To mirror my skin as it cracks and tears

When it meets the forbidden shine

Of a heart to a deity

Its blood
