An even more terrible day with a sloppy ending.

Today was really sloppy overall. Anyway, nobody cares about my day anyway so I'll rant about today's subpar release.

An important thing to consider is how to translate Alicia's taciturn responses. Basically, she answered in the affirmative with "うん" a lot, which is read literally as "un". The problem is that it could be translated into a fairly wide range of similar English words like "Yes", "Yeah", "Hm", "Hmm", "Hum", "Uh-huh", "Mm-hmm", among others.

I think the one that fits her best for most cases is "Mhm", which indicates affirmation with a closed mouth, so that's why I used it in this chapter. Please give me feedback.

Also, I'm not sure if this is something different in the original light novel or if it's just the translator taking liberties, but the descriptions of what is happening are a bit more elaborated. What I mean by this is that in the web novel, since the story is narrated from Alicia's perspective, some things are implied and left for the reader to infer.

For example, instead of a the "Said the sister from behind her brother's back since he wouldn't continue the conversation" of the web novel, in the light novel it is "The little sister said that from behind her flustered big brother".

I don't think Alicia is supposed to know that he's flustered simply because she just doesn't understand these kinds of things too well. I think this is a fairly common thing with her throughout the story (I've read ahead). You could even say she's a bit of a dense protagonist at times. I'll try to keep translating keeping that in mind.

Another one is when she was selecting the crystals in the light novel, it was more clear that she knew what she was doing (specifying "without hesitation") while in the web novel it's implied but can easily be inferred (at least that's how I feel). I'm still not sure if that was just the translator taking liberties to make it clearer or if the source was different. I really should buy the light novel just so I could stop getting stuck wondering about these things.

PS. I have to do something about the styling for the status display before it starts appearing more frequently. Since I don't want to use any Japanese characters, I think I'll just have to come up with some sort of original look.
