Paying The Price

Chapter 36 - Hold On Pearl, Mamma's Coming.

Diana was furious, she had called Wayne the previous night to inquire about Pearl cause she couldn't reach her line. Wayne told her Pearl was asleep and that she lost her phone. He didn't say much and hastily ended the conversation.

Pearl was really asleep, asleep in a strange woman's hotel room.

Wayne had crossed the line this time, he abandoned them, forgot them, now lost their daughter. If anything was to happen to Pearl, Diana was ready to skin Wayne alive, even if he may be stronger or more powerful than her. She would definitely do her best in skinning him.

Diana booked the quickest flight to New York.

After her deal with Fiona, things calmed down at Z's coffee shop. The staffs had their jobs back, customers walked in and out and the previous tensed moment was no more. Diana asked for a leave of absence, rushed home, packed some stuffs, sent Nikki a message then hailed a taxi to the airport.

In the plane so many thoughts flooded her mind.

Gosh, Wayne isn't reliable in anything at all.

He couldn't be a husband nor a father. He was never there for her through her maternity period. Going for check up, she would see most pregnant women with their partners, in their midst, she looked like she got pregnant out of wedlock as she always showed up in the hospital with either Nikki or Evelyn.

Only Diana knew how much she got jealous of women who were accompanied by their husbands in the labour room, sharing their pain, coaxing them and welcoming their new born together.

Wayne only held Pearl once during their three months in the same roof, he didn't have any expression on his face when he looked at his daughter for the first time. It felt like he wasn't happy at her arrival.

That day played in Diana's head, if Wayne didn't like her he should at least love is own blood.

Sigh

The task of raising a child was bore by her with Nikki's aid. Wayne had no idea how much she had done, all the sacrifices she had made, the love she tried to give, care and support.

He had no idea, neither did he care.

Diana felt series of pain as she recalled the past. She droped her head low, drops of tears flowed down her cheek. This was not the husband she had dreamt and hoped for.

She was done trying to make amends, if possible, she would not allow Pearl go close to him again.

Diana resolved to cut off all ties with Wayne. The divorce must happen. Her happiness wouldn't be hindered anymore.

Looking out the window, she prayed Pearl was indeed safe, she couldn't wait to be reunited with her little sugar.

'Hold Pearl, mamma's coming.'
