Paying The Price

"It really affected her so much that she didn't come out from her room for almost a week, she ate very little and.... it... it made her hate both men and women cause no one came to her rescue when she cried for help." Leon closed his eyes then tried to calmed.

This memory was never a pleasant one, he could vividly remember the way the men took great delight in violating her, how much pain Sarah went through and how the trauma changed her personality.

"Sarah wasn't like this. She was a kind, sweet and caring girl, she wasn't like Fiona. Fiona has always been herself since childhood but Sarah was different and ever since the incident she became who you know today." Leon glanced at Nikki who was patiently listening. Oh how he wished she would always be like this.

Leon continued "If it was any other girl, Wayne and I wouldn't bait an eye even if it's someone we know. Fiona and Sarah are exceptional, I remember clearly how they would run after us even when we were covered in blood after a mission and they had no idea what happened but they were never afraid, when we would constantly ignore them they never gave up on us, they always tried their best to make us happy. Running after us with their little legs, covering for us even when it got them in trouble. Then we were kids and they did it just because they wanted to be our friend. I guess it turned to love."

"You know what she asked after she recovered? She said 'Hope you guys didn't get into trouble?' How could I bear to hurt her anymore?"

Nikki held Leon's hand that was placed on the ray, feeling her touch made his heart beat faster "I didn't know it was that hard on you. I know I would totally be angry if I were in her shoes but.... standing there was her choice she can't tie you down for the consequences of her own mistakes and you shouldn't let her control you anymore. You should stand up for what you want. OK?"

Recalling some words he said as he narrated himself she asked "Wait, when you said you killed those men and you were covered in blood after a mission, does that mean that you and Wayne are like super bad guys?"

Leon only smiled but didn't reply.

"Anyway, you're bad or not doesn't matter, I'm still gonna smack you silly if you behave like an idiot." Nikki pouted.

"I know Sarah can be Sarah but she's not that bad, is it that you just don't like her that's why you don't want to marry her?" In curiosity, Nikki asked.

"Well, some years ago I didn't mind but now I have someone I like but I don't know if she feel the same way."

"You should ask her first, you may never know if you don't."

"You're right I should."

Without warning Leon pulled Nikki closer and gave her a deep kiss.
