Battle Through the Heavens: The Inner Struggle of Cultivation Brings Xiao Yan to Tears

He only claimed the reward after setting up the task.

The next moment, a wealth of pharmacological experience, insights, and information about the properties of medicinal herbs flooded into his mind.

This time, it took him a full hour to fully absorb this information.

Because he absorbed too much information, Xiao Yang even felt his head was a little swollen.

It might be developing a brain.

[Task: Achieve Minor Mastery in Pharmacology Proficiency; Reward: "Complete Explanation of Medicinal Herbs". Completed. Claim reward?]

The system also sent a notification when he received the message.

He accepted it without hesitation.

The next moment, hundreds of books appeared in the system space.

What the hell!

Looking at the hundreds of books in the system space, Xiao Yang's mentality began to crumble.

This so-called "Complete Explanation of Chinese Herbal Medicines" actually consists of more than a hundred books!

Each one is like a dictionary.

At this moment, Xiao Yang could only pray; the contents were mostly pictures with very little text.

He took out one of the books marked "1" and opened it to take a look.

This is the first book in the "Complete Explanation of Chinese Herbal Medicines" series.

It begins with an introduction to the book.

The Complete Guide to Medicinal Herbs contains a wealth of information about the medicinal properties, pharmacology, growing environment, and cultivation methods of all medicinal herbs in the Dou Qi Continent.

After reading the introduction, he continued flipping through the pages.

The next moment, everything went black before Xiao Yang's eyes.

It's filled with tiny text, with only a few image examples.

He stubbornly flipped through the pages, and there they were!

Then he took out several other books, and it was the same!

Now, Xiao Yang's anxiety completely died.

Even after time travel, one cannot escape the fate of memorizing texts.

Moreover, the books they were memorizing were medical books!

No wonder people always said in my past life that advising someone to study medicine would be a sin against heaven.

There's nothing I can do but watch it slowly later.

He began to establish the mission.

[Task: Memorize all information about 300 kinds of medicinal herbs; Reward: Pharmacology Proficiency +1]

[Task: Refine ten portions of Heat and Cold Immunity Ointment; Reward: Grade 1 Pill Proficiency +1, one Ice and Fire Demon Bamboo]

Chapter 35 The Art of Spiritual Plants

He plans to dedicate some time each day to studying medicinal herbs and their pharmacology.

As for now, he plans to first refine a heat- and cold-resistant ointment so that he can become a first-grade alchemist recognized by the system.

The process of making the heat- and cold-resistant ointment is actually quite difficult.

However, the medicinal herbs are easy to obtain.

As the name suggests, it can keep you protected from the elements for a week, simply by applying it to your body.

Of course, this only works at normal temperatures.

Xiao Yang estimated that it could withstand temperatures ranging from minus twenty degrees Celsius to plus forty degrees Celsius.

If you're going to places like volcanoes or glacial lakes, it won't be as effective.

Even so, it's still pretty good.

It should be very popular with wealthy people who have relatively weak cultivation levels.

Moreover, this thing doesn't cost much to produce, so it won't be very expensive to sell.

Xiao Yang took out the six medicinal materials for the Heat-Free Ointment and began to refine them.

With his current proficiency in first-grade pills, even though this is his first time refining the Heat-Improving Ointment, the success rate should still be over 50%.

Soon, the extraction of the six medicinal herbs was completed.

Without hesitation, he immediately began the process of fusing the pills.

Fortunately, the heat-resistant ointment was successfully made on the first try.

Before Xiao Yang could even take out the ointment from the alchemy furnace, a system notification sounded in his mind.

[Task: Become a First-Rank Alchemist. Reward: Basic Alchemy Talent +1, "Spiritual Plant Techniques". Completed. Claim reward?]

He did not collect it immediately, but first took out the heat-resistant ointment from the alchemy furnace, divided it into two hundred portions, and put them into wooden boxes.

This portion can be used approximately five times.

After putting away the wooden box, Xiao Yang immediately claimed his reward.

The next moment, a scroll appeared in his system space.

He also discovered that his tasks related to alchemy were gradually changing.

Originally, it took refining ten first-grade pills to gain one point of proficiency, but now it only takes refining nine.

The workload for tasks such as refining medicinal materials and memorizing their pharmacology has been reduced by 10%.

He knew it was probably due to his rudimentary talent in alchemy.

However, what he cared about most at this moment was the so-called "Spirit Plant Method"!

He couldn't wait to take the newly acquired scroll out of the system space.

The scroll is turquoise.

He opened it, and inside was an introduction to the "Spiritual Plant Method".

The Spirit Plant Technique is neither a cultivation method nor a regular combat skill.

This scroll of spiritual plant techniques should be classified as a secret method.

The Spirit Plant Technique is not for combat.

However, after Xiao Yang learned about the contents of the Spirit Plant Technique, his eyes were filled with excitement.

The art of cultivating spiritual plants and alchemists are a perfect match!

Especially considering he also had a medicinal herb field.

The function of the Spirit Plant Method is very simple: it is used to cultivate medicinal herbs and accelerate their growth.

Of course, the more precious the medicinal material, the more difficult it is to accelerate its growth.

At the same time, the stronger one's abilities, the easier it is to accelerate the ripening of a medicinal herb.

Looking at the introduction to the Spirit Plant Technique, Xiao Yang couldn't wait to stick the scroll to his forehead.

This scroll only contains some information about spiritual plant magic; to learn it, one needs to use their soul perception to receive the contents of the scroll.

Soon, a flood of information entered Xiao Yang's mind.

The secrets of the Spirit Plant Method are quite complicated to learn.

After receiving all this information, he noticed something.

Although the Spirit Plant Technique is very suitable for alchemists, normal alchemists are basically unable to use it.

Because, in order to use the Spirit Plant Technique, one must possess wood-attribute battle qi.

Although the alchemist possessed a trace of wood-attribute battle qi.

However, it is mainly fire-attribute fighting spirit.

There was only a trace of wood-attribute fighting spirit.

This not only fails to accelerate the ripening of medicinal herbs, but may also destroy them by burning.

If the method of cultivating spiritual plants were to spread, the status of wood-attribute cultivators might also see a significant improvement.

However, it's unlikely to spread in a short time.

The spiritual power on this scroll has vanished.

Making a scroll wouldn't be so easy for Xiao Yang.

After storing the scroll in his system space, Xiao Yang began searching among the medicinal herbs.

Soon, he found a medicinal herb with seeds.

The medicinal herbs he currently possesses are mostly low-grade, and the seeds are practically worthless.

Therefore, many medicinal herbs have seeds on them.

He picked a seed from a blood-clotting flower and placed it in his palm.

Next, he began to create the task.

[Task: Accelerate the growth of ten Blood Clotting Flowers; Reward: +1 Proficiency in Spirit Plant Magic]

For a Blood Clotting Flower to mature, it normally takes at least three years, and most require five years.

After setting up the mission, Xiao Yang began to transform the fighting spirit within his body into wood-attribute fighting spirit.

Then, he began to circulate his battle qi according to the method recorded in the Spirit Plant Method.

Soon, the wood-attribute battle qi within his body began to slowly gather towards the blood-coagulating flower seed in his hand.

The first step in the spiritual plant method is to germinate the medicinal seed.

Some specific medicinal herbs are quite particular about the environment and need to be planted in a suitable environment before they can germinate.
