King Yama, realizing that all the gods were dead, came to investigate, only to find himself also suffering a tragic fate.

The Southern Ghost Emperor reasoned that this explanation was reasonable.

However, King Yama, who had always known Yama well, still had some doubts.

Given Yama's cowardly nature, how could he dare to come to the Abyss of Exile alone after discovering that his subordinates had died?

Chapter 552 Listening Makes No Discovery

King Yama had doubts in his heart, because Yama was acting out of character.

There must be something they don't know about that made Yama risk coming to the Abyss of Exile.

Either he had something he had to do to come, or he felt that the Abyss of Exile was no longer dangerous.

However, King Yama's suspicions were just that—suspicions—without any evidence, while the Four Ghost Emperors had already settled the cause and effect of the matter.

The murderer is Lin Yi, and the deceased is Yama, the King of Hell.

The process was quite simple. None of the four Ghost Emperors raised any questions. Although King Yama believed that his guess was correct, he dared not say anything recklessly.

This was something the four Ghost Emperors had already discussed. If he questioned it, wouldn't he seem smarter than the four Ghost Emperors?

If he had a powerful backer, that would be fine; he could at least secretly communicate with the leaders.

Unfortunately, the Central Ghost Emperor doesn't get involved, nor does he submit to the Goddess of Mount Tai or the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha.

Within the underworld system, having a leader is equivalent to having a powerful backer.

However, the Wheel King is only a nominal leader; the Central Ghost Emperor is someone he can't rely on.

At this point, if he offended the other four Ghost Emperors, he would truly be close to death.

So even though he knew that Yama's death was not normal, he dared not make a sound.

As an outsider, Lin Yi would have absolutely no chance of killing Yama, the King of Hell, silently in the underworld without anyone's secret help.

The more King Yama thought about it, the more frightened he became, and he was very worried that he would become Lin Yi's next target.

All the other Yama Kings are protected by the Ghost Emperor, but he isn't. If we don't kill him, who should we kill?

King Yama, however, suspected that one of the four Ghost Emperors was a traitor, and he didn't know who to turn to for allegiance.

If you run into the line of fire, you'll only die faster.

For a moment, King Yama was caught in a dilemma, while the Four Ghost Emperors had already made arrangements.

Since Lin Yi has already demonstrated extremely formidable combat power, if they were to encounter each other separately, they would likely be in danger.

The situation is extremely critical, so we can only ask the Goddess of Mount Tai and the Bodhisattva for help.

With their abilities, they will surely be able to find Lin Yi's whereabouts. As long as he is still in the underworld, they will definitely be able to expose him.

Otherwise, with defenses spread out everywhere like this, Lin Yi could attack the weak points in the defenses. Ordinary Yin Generals would be no match for him, and even a King might be killed.

They will have a hard time without the support of God.

The four Ghost Emperors each sent messengers to the two great gods. Soon, the Goddess of Mount Tai responded, saying that Lin Yi had injured her twelve imperial guards commanders, and she had to stay in the temple to heal them.

However, she has already sent a message to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, suggesting that she try to request Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's assistance.

With external enemies at hand, it's not unreasonable for the two factions in the underworld to temporarily reach a consensus.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva did not respond, but after a short while, a golden light was seen in the distance. This was the golden wheel of merit of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, as vast as the sun in the sky. When the Buddha's light shone on it from afar, the resentment of the Abyss of Exile seemed to dissipate considerably.

It's like a place shrouded in smog all day long, finally seeing the light break through the clouds.

The evil spirits of the Abyss, illuminated by the Buddha's light, let out painful howls, but as the black aura on their bodies was purified by the Buddha's light, they all knelt down and worshipped Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

"Amitabha Buddha, may you be reborn!"

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva casually sprinkled down a few golden rays, which landed on the water and turned into golden lotuses, guiding the purified ghosts onto them.

Stepping on the golden lotus, the ghost will no longer be polluted by the Abyss of Exile, and can re-enter the cycle of reincarnation with a purified soul.

"May the Bodhisattva have mercy!"

The ghost emperors and Yama all bowed and praised him, but Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's face showed a hint of sorrow.

No matter how powerful he is, he cannot purify this abyss of exile.

It can dispel the darkness temporarily, but it cannot completely purify this place.

This is because this place is a manifestation of the resentment of all beings. All beings suffer, and thus hell arises.

People think that the eighteen levels of hell where evil spirits suffer is hell, but they don’t know that the abyss of unresolved resentment is the real hell.

However, now is not the time for sadness. He said to the crowd, "I already know what you are asking for. This is my divine beast, Di Ting, which can hear the three realms."

Since Lin Yi has already revealed his presence here, he cannot escape the notice of Di Ting. You should all prepare yourselves!

Hearing Ksitigarbha say this, Lin Yi also became nervous.

This divine beast is so powerful that it can hear the voices of the three realms; wouldn't its hiding place be discovered?

Nevertheless, Lin Yi dared not make any rash moves, for if he tried to escape now, he would only end up being besieged by the gods.

Conversely, if they stay still, the Divine Beast might not notice them, and they might still have a chance to survive.

After careful consideration, Lin Yi decided to take the gamble.

The Di Ting divine beast buried its head in the ground. Unlike the detection techniques that released ripples, the Di Ting absorbed those ripples into its ears.

One method involves emitting a signal, waiting for it to be reflected, and then absorbing the signal; the other method involves directly absorbing the signal.

Before Lin Yi could react, a wave of light passed over him.

He felt a chill run down his spine, knowing that a fierce battle was likely to ensue today. She was hiding beneath the Abyss of Exile, fully prepared to strike decisively.

It was at this moment that Di Ting stopped casting the spell and looked at Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

The Listening One has no words; only the Bodhisattva can understand its meaning.

“Amitabha, Di Ting was unable to hear the whereabouts of the villain. Perhaps he has obtained some opportunity, or perhaps he is hiding in some magical place that can block Di Ting’s hearing. There is nothing I can do about it.”

Hearing this, Lin Yi felt much more at ease.

He loosened his grip on Zero One's hand slightly. He had been holding her earlier to signal her to follow his instructions and not to act rashly.

In retrospect, it seems that being able to remain calm has its advantages.

When the Four Ghost Emperors saw that even Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was helpless, they were immediately alarmed. Were they really going to sit idly by and watch an outsider run rampant in the underworld, without being able to do anything about it?

The four ghost emperors were somewhat unwilling, but Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva comforted them at the right time, saying, "Right and wrong, good and evil, cause and effect, are all predetermined. You don't need to worry about temporary gains and losses. Just go with the flow!"

"I will obey the Buddha's instructions."

The four Ghost Emperors felt immense pressure. Even Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva couldn't find Lin Yi's hiding place, so what could they do?

The enemy is in the dark while we are in the light, which makes it seem like they have to be careful. What kind of logic is that?

For a moment, all four Ghost Emperors were secretly annoyed.

Because of what the Bodhisattva said, they had no choice but to each lead their troops to guard their own territory.

However, all four Ghost Emperors warned their respective palace masters that they must not be alone and must maintain constant contact if anything unusual happens.

Lin Yi's act of killing Yama King silently was truly terrifying.

Only the Wheel King wants a skin, but he doesn't know who to ask.

Since Yama, the King of Hell, had already expressed his intention to seek refuge with Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, he absolutely must not go to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

This is an unspoken, unspoken rule.

Otherwise, if the two Yama Kings under the Central Ghost Emperor, Yama and Chakravartin, have both submitted to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, wouldn't that mean the Central Ghost Emperor is already considered a member of Buddhism?

Once the balance between the two factions is broken, the consequences will be severe.

He has no other choice but to seek the protection of the Goddess of Mount Tai.

Before long, the Four Ghost Emperors and the Nine Kings of Hell dispersed, leaving only Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva still shining his Buddha light upon the evil souls, helping them to reincarnate.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is indeed compassionate. Under the continuous illumination of Buddha's light, countless wronged souls and vengeful ghosts have been liberated.

But Lin Yi really hoped that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva would leave quickly.

If he doesn't leave, how can I leave?

Fortunately, the Buddha's light is very effective at dispelling evil spirits. Not all ghosts are slow-moving, and since they have already run away, they naturally cannot be bathed in the Buddha's light.

Before long, all the evil spirits in the vicinity disappeared.

It seems that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva should be leaving soon.

He did intend to leave, but as he was leaving, he suddenly began reciting poetry.

"Cause and effect are predetermined by Heaven, good and evil follow one's own heart. Greed and anger lead to hell, and attachments suppress the Buddha's mind."

A sea of blood surges with terrifying waves, white bones float like duckweed. When will we find freedom? Only when we lay down our butcher's knives.

These words are clearly pointed at.

Lin Yi listened as if the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha was speaking to him, but the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha never glanced at him from beginning to end. He simply recited the poem and then hurried away.

Lin Yi was left at a loss, unsure whether the man had discovered him.

After careful consideration, he naturally found the answer in his heart.

The probing light wave had already passed through him, but Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva said that Di Ting had not found any trace of Lin Yi and persuaded everyone to go back.

This is taking advantage of the fact that Di Ting cannot speak.

If it weren't for that later passage, Lin Yi probably would have thought that Di Ting hadn't discovered him. Now that he thinks about it, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva did it on purpose.

This cause and effect has finally come to fruition.

No wonder he said that cause and effect are predetermined; it's indeed not so easy to escape.

Since things have come to this, we can only let nature take its course.

Having determined these points, Lin Yi began to analyze that passage.

She was definitely saying it to him.

Lin Yi naturally disagreed with the notion that greed and anger lead to hell and that attachments suppress the Buddha's mind.
