......

I returned to the apartment with my shopping bags at around 4:30 pm.

He put shampoo and other toiletries in the bathroom, feeling a little guilty about his spending that day.

That vain old lady always insisted on bringing flowers and fruit, and they couldn't bring the same thing twice.

The shopping bag was quite full, and Asada Sakura had been carrying it since returning from the mall. Her arms were trembling slightly as she placed it with difficulty on the table.

She sat on the stool for a while, then got up and went outside.

"I have some things to do, so don't prepare my portion for dinner tonight."

"Is it about the apartment? I'll go with you."

"Thank you, but this is not necessary."

Her skirt swayed, leaving behind a graceful silhouette as she departed.

Ito's gaze fell on the shopping bags on the table; there should be some snacks to put in the refrigerator.

He had already assumed that Asada would definitely buy some snacks.

The dessert on top is definitely something else: cheese pudding and roasted coffee jelly. Asada really does love sweets.

After taking out the jelly, what followed was not the food that Yuujin Ito had expected, but a gift box, long and narrow, wrapped in burgundy velvet with a silver ribbon tied in a crooked bow.

There was a note on it that read, "A gift for Ito-kun."

The gift box was lighter than I expected, and it made a soft rustling sound when shaken. Ito untied the ribbon; inside was a box of chocolates.

Even the gifts they give are food.

The moment the lid was lifted, the aroma of cocoa butter wafted out, with a faint hint of sea salt.

He put a chocolate in his mouth; it wasn't sweet.

As the chocolate melted in her mouth, Ito turned her gaze back to the shopping bag. There was another gift box with the exact same packaging and a sticky note that read, "I think I made a mistake. One of the boxes is chocolate."

She was still clutching the wrapper of the chocolate in her hand, and it seemed she had opened the wrong one.

The apartment door opened, revealing Anna Takikawa, who was wearing a fluffy pajama coat.

"Ito, is there anything to eat?"

Her voice was listless, but when she saw the cheese pudding and charcoal-grilled caramel jelly on the table, her eyes suddenly lit up.

"Is this Pastel's house? Did you go out today?"

Yuji Ito opened the gift box in his hand and casually replied, "Asada bought it."

"Why not just eat it at the mall? You're bringing it back. It would taste much better if you ate it there."

As he spoke, Takikawa was about to unpack the jelly, but Ito stopped him.

"Those were bought by someone else. If you want to eat them, go buy them yourself."

Anna Takikawa looked pitiful and asked, "How can you bear to let a beautiful girl go hungry?"

"Ah."

"He's so cold-blooded, he's practically a heartless animal," Anna Takikawa complained, noticing out of the corner of her eye the gift Ito was holding. "Who gave you this tie? It's quite nice, it suits you perfectly."

"Do you want me to help you put it on?"

Before Ito could refuse, Anna Takikawa got up, took the tie from Ito's hand, and removed the original tie.

Her fingertips deftly traced his collar, her warm breath brushing against his throat. "Was it given to you by Asada?"

"Bang, bang"

When Anna Takigawa entered, the apartment door was not closed, so Sakura Asada, wearing a white dress, crossed one arm over her chest and knocked on the door with the other.

She seemed to have witnessed everything.

"Oh no, Ito, we've been caught cheating!!!"

Anna Takikawa looked flustered, her hands gripping Ito's tie tightly, showing no intention of letting go.

This guy's back to his dramatic self again.

"You..." Just as Ito Yujin was about to speak, Takikawa pulled him up with both hands, tightening his grip instantly. "Let...let go..."

"What? You're saying you want to elope with me?"

Takikawa pressed her ear against Ito's side, a look of delight on her face. Then, she hesitated, covering her mouth and letting out an exaggerated gasp, while her ear tip subtly turned towards the doorway.

"But Asada is still here. Isn't it... not appropriate to say these things to his face?"

The eyelashes on his eyes blinked, casting shadows, and he spoke with increasing frustration.

"Let's forget it, Ito-kun. We're just not a good match."

She loosened her grip on Ito's tie, allowing him to catch his breath. After whispering a few words where no one could see her face, she walked dejectedly toward the door, her slippers making a frustrated sound as they dragged on the floor.

"Stop." Asada called out to her.

Takikawa shuddered, but when he turned around, he precisely lowered the corner of his eye by 0.5 centimeters, revealing an expression even more pitiful than that of a stray cat.

"I've already given up, are you still not willing to let me go?" Takikawa, dressed in fluffy pajamas, looked pitiful, his rabbit ears tilted to one side.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Asada reached into Takikawa's clothes.

"No! No way! I don't like girls!"

Takikawa was horrified. She tried her best to stop him, screaming and covering her chest, but her fingertips curled up inside her sleeves and secretly hooked the lining of her pajamas.

Asada, expressionless, grabbed her collar and, amidst Takikawa's "struggle," precisely pulled a plastic box from her bosom—a box of cheese pudding and roasted caramel jelly.

The cheese pudding was topped with caramelized candy that had cracked into an irregular spiderweb pattern.

“Takikawa-kun, next time you hide desserts,” Asada flicked the box with her fingertip, “remember to choose a smaller one.”

Anna Takikawa's shoulders slumped instantly.

“You’re so heartless. You and Ito are both heartless people.” She leaned closer to Asada. “Your face turned as white as cheese pudding when you saw the tie just now.”

After saying that, he fled to the next room as if he were escaping.

Having finally survived suffocation, Ito breathed deeply and savored the value of life.

Asada's fingertips suddenly touched his wrist, and water droplets condensed on the glass he was offered.

Her gaze remained fixed on his blue, white, and gray striped tie, and she muttered, "The tie is nice, but it doesn't look good when you wear it."

"What?" Ito looked up, his mouth full of water, not having heard what Asada said.

"Where's the chocolate?" Asada turned away, avoiding the topic, her hair brushing against his chin.

The gift box on the table was open, empty except for its lining.

After rinsing away the bitterness of the dark chocolate in his mouth with warm water, Ito paused for a moment before saying, "It should have been taken by Takikawa just now."

"All of them?" Asada frantically searched through the items.

"Hmm." Ito, still clutching the crumpled tin foil in his hand, gave a definitive answer, "They must have taken all the chocolates just now."

"Sigh!" Asada sighed, "I originally intended it as a thank-you gift..."

"We can use that pudding jelly," Ito suggested.

“That was bought for you.” Asada shook his head. “There’s a limit of two per person, so it’s very precious. I don’t want to give that to someone else.”

Even though Asada said that, Ito still placed the box of pudding in her hand. "Now is more important. We can eat it together next time we visit Grandma. Anyway, Takikawa said it tastes better when we eat it on the spot."

Asada looked up and met Ito Yujin's gaze.

The twilight outside the window seeped in, casting their shadows on the wall.

"What are we having for dinner tonight?" Anna Takikawa poked her head out, breaking the silence. "I'm a little hungry."

Asada lowered her head, picked up the box, and ran out quickly.

"Hey~ what were you guys doing just now~?" A lewd look appeared on Takikawa's face. Ito rarely used the word "lewd" to describe girls.

It's hard to imagine that someone known for his good looks could make such an expression.

As for what to eat tonight, Ito remembered there were curry cubes in the refrigerator. He carefully tucked his tie away from his neck and opened the refrigerator.

The moment the refrigerator door was opened, a cloud of cold air rushed out.

Ito rummaged through the refrigerator and found the strawberry milk in the corner. She had bought it at the Asada supermarket yesterday. Actually, she could have waited a few more days and saved the money.

"Do you need any help?" Takikawa Anna's voice came from behind.

"Do you really know how to cook?" Ito asked without turning around, tapping the curry cube packaging.

"No." Takikawa sat astride a high stool, a piece of dark chocolate in his mouth.

He took a peeler from the drawer, and the blade moved across the surface of the potato, the thin, cicada-wing-like skin curling off.

“Cut the potatoes into smaller pieces.” Takikawa poked the cube on the cutting board. “Asada will burn his tongue.”

Ito paused for a moment, then tilted the knife at a 30-degree angle, turning the potato chunks into uniform rhombuses.

She opened the freezer compartment and took out a box of beef, which she had bought at the supermarket last time. However, Ito noticed the gaze behind her and put the frozen beef back, replacing it with chicken.

"Tsk." Takikawa's complaint was all contained in that one sound.

Heat oil in a frying pan. If the chicken slices sizzle instantly, the aroma of the meat will blend with the sweetness of the chopped onions.

Then add the curry cubes. The curry cubes sizzle in the hot pan, and the aroma of melting butter, along with the fragrance of spices, fills the entire room.

Ito stirred the soup with a wooden spoon, then sprinkled some minced garlic into the pot. The bubbling sound gradually intensified, and the chicken slices floated in the thick soup.

Takikawa suddenly reached out, dipped his chopsticks in the soup, and put it in his mouth. "So-so."

"Then don't take another bite." He suddenly reached out and knocked away the chopsticks that Takikawa was using to steal a slice of meat.

“This is called tasting.” Takikawa put the chopsticks in his mouth. “Besides, you don’t want her to think that your cooking is bad, do you?”

"It must be very difficult to make curry taste bad."

Ito turned off the heat, ladled out the curry, and placed it on the table.
