The back room.
Level 2 Pipe Nightmare.
"They're back again."
Yang Bo stared at the cramped passage before him. He hadn't felt it was that narrow when he left last time, but now that he was back in the vast main world, he felt suffocated even by breathing in this awful place.
"The smell of this sewer..."
The air was filled with the smell of sewage from the sewers.
Snap... Snap...
Footsteps came from the intersection ahead, as if someone was deliberately stomping hard in a puddle.
Yang Bo roused himself and strode forward. As he approached, he heard a faint sobbing sound coming from ahead, and a name immediately came to mind.
'A tragic corpse?'
He paused for only a second before taking the iron axe and shield in his hands and continuing to walk forward.
As they got closer, the sobbing became clearer and clearer.
'I came back to find a corpse; the back room is really welcoming.'
The pattering footsteps stopped abruptly, but the sobbing did not cease.
Just as Yang Bo was about to reach the intersection, a blood-red corpse suddenly burst out from another tunnel.
Its skin was completely scratched, its red, rotting muscles were exposed to the air, and one of its eyeballs had fallen out of its socket, with only a few optic nerves connecting it.
"Grass!"
To be honest, even though Yang Bo was mentally prepared, he was still taken aback.
This wretched corpse had been transformed for an unknown period of time; its body was infested with maggots, and white insects were crawling in and out of the holes in its body.
The iron axe slammed down.
The charging corpse was repelled, and the Fire enchantment was triggered, instantly filling the air with a smell even worse than a sewer explosion.
The taste was like roasting a piece of rotten meat that had been decaying for who knows how long.
Yang Bo immediately held his breath, not giving the corpse a chance to rush up again, and swung his iron axe one after another, striking the corpse from a distance.
I don't know if it's because it has a physical form, but the Sorrowful Corpse has more health than the Smiling Nightmare.
However, with high health but no special attack methods, this wretched corpse did not last long before collapsing on the dirty ground.
Suppressing the urge to turn away, he walked forward and collected the fallen experience book and rotten flesh into his backpack.
'Damn, the smell of those gruesome corpses in this godforsaken place is absolutely amazing!'
It makes sense, considering the humid and hot environment. It's normal for a corpse that would normally develop symptoms of decay and itching to end up like this.
They hurried toward the narrow tunnel where the gruesome corpse had appeared; barring any unforeseen circumstances, this route should have the richest supplies.
Sure enough, not far away, Yang Bo saw a bottle of almond water placed on the tool shelf.
A great start!
I tossed the almond water and the metal tool rack into my backpack.
'So, are there really flies in the Level 2 pipe nightmare?'
At least Yang Bo did not encounter flies or mosquitoes at level 2.
Continuing his exploration, he soon came across some exposed electrical wires protruding from the pipes in the wall.
'They're here!'
Yang Bo's eyes lit up. He took out a stone brick from his backpack and placed it to the side, making it completely suspended in the air. He climbed up and used a pickaxe to destroy the stone brick, completely cutting off any possibility of an electrical circuit.
'Pull them one by one, one by one, don't be greedy...'
If he pulls them one by one, he can now easily pull out a single live wire!
Chapter 38, Level 4: 'Abandoned Office'
In the level 2 pipe nightmare, Yang Bo skillfully pulled an electric wire outwards repeatedly.
"That's really long..."
Take out the wire strippers you found earlier, cut the wire and put it in your backpack, then continue pulling on the remaining wire.
Yang Bo didn't feel tired at all; in fact, he felt more and more energetic as he talked.
After pulling the last wire out of the pipe, Yang Bo jumped down from the stone bricks and clapped his hands.
"I wonder how much copper can be extracted from these wires."
This is the 17th pipe with protruding wires that he has cleaned. Once he gets the hang of it, he can pull the wires much faster than before.
Of course, accidents do happen. In areas with high humidity, electric arcs can suddenly appear from damaged parts of electrical wires.
However, the electric arcs only caused him about 5 points of damage. After eating some food and resting for a while, he was able to continue working.
After knocking down the suspended stone bricks and retrieving them from his backpack, he continued walking forward along the tunnel.
Suddenly, Yang Bo stopped and stared at the elevator in front of him, which should never have appeared in the abandoned pipes under normal circumstances.
He took MEG's survival manual out of his backpack and quickly found information about elevators in the level 2 description.
"Find the office-style door/elevator/storage room door → Enter Level 4"
'Level 4, abandoned office?'
I flipped through two pages and found information about the abandoned offices on level 4.
Level 4: Abandoned Office
Security level: Class 1
(Safe, stable, and with very few physical entities)
The abandoned office at level 4 is arguably the safest and most well-stocked "supply station" and "rest area" discovered so far in the rear chamber level.
The entire level is an infinitely extending area consisting of a spacious lobby, cubicles, corridors, and meeting rooms.
Main entities: Hound, Blunt Man, Laughing Face, Window
Greatest danger: Solid windows; never approach any windows in the floor that are not painted black.
Psychological harm: Prolonged solitude can easily lead to depression, amnesia, and suicidal tendencies.
The tier contains a large amount of almond water, food, snacks, and office supplies.
Upon seeing the large amount of almond water, Yang Bo immediately closed the survival manual in his hand and strode towards the elevator.
'Take this opportunity to stock up on almond water so that we don't have to worry about inventory when we go to other levels.'
He needed to travel to other levels to find an exit that might never exist, and he could never have too much almond water, such an important resource.
He walked up to the elevator, which seemed out of place with its surroundings.
Ding--
The silver elevator doors opened automatically to both sides, just like automatic sensor doors.
Yang Bo peered into the elevator and carefully looked inside. After confirming that there was nothing unusual, he stepped inside.
There was only one button on the elevator control panel, with the Arabic numeral 4 printed on it.
'It's just one button... let's just make it fully automatic.'
As soon as the button was pressed and the elevator doors closed, a ding-a-mole sound was heard, and the elevator doors slowly slid open to both sides.
"???"
A dull, dry, and oppressive cold air rushed in, carrying a faint smell of damp old carpet, aged plastic, and dust.
Compared to the nightmare of Level 2 pipes, the air here is so much fresher.
What comes into view is an endless, monotonous, and repetitive abandoned office area, with the floor covered with old, gray-brown short-pile carpets, and rows of gray-white cement pillars extending endlessly into the distance.
I stepped out of the elevator.
"Are elevators that efficient? Can they really teleport you through space?"
Yang Bo muttered a complaint and started walking towards the empty old workstation in the distance. After taking a couple of steps, he suddenly remembered something and looked back.
The elevator that was just there has vanished without a trace, leaving only a clean wall behind.
'As expected, it's not a fixed entrance/exit...'
Level 4, the 'Abandoned Office' level, does indeed have fixed entrances and exits, and around these entrances and exits, a number of homeless people and various organizational strongholds have gathered.
The broken metal desks and overturned plastic office chairs give the impression that the company has gone bankrupt and the boss has run away with his mistress.
Pick up some scattered paper documents on the table; they contain plans for selling a shampoo.
A thought crossed my mind.
The A4 paper, originally filled with English, instantly transformed into "paper" in the game "Minecraft".
"This is much faster than growing sugarcane."
In Minecraft, paper is crafted from three sugarcane, but now only one sheet of paper is needed to make it. If you find a pack of A4 paper, it could last you a very long time.
He opened the drawers of the metal desk and searched them one by one.
A broken stapler, a pen without ink, a broken pencil, and some scattered paperclips.
For Yang Bo, the most valuable thing is probably not this metal desk.
"Since we're already here..."
Take out a regular storage box and throw all the miscellaneous items inside.
When we get back, we'll sort things out slowly. We'll keep what we can use and throw the unusable stuff into the charred furnace to recycle the raw materials.
Although there are a considerable number of discarded desks, they come in a wide variety of styles: wooden, plastic, metal…
"My backpack is full..."
36 inventory slots are barely enough in the original Minecraft, but far too few in the real world.
