Warhammer 40k: Melee Warriors

Space Marines may be superhuman, but they don't completely lack sleep. A good night's sleep can restore their energy and relax their tense bodies. However, generally speaking, they only need one or two hours of deep rest to be able to fight for a week or even longer. It is extremely rare for someone like Markus to sleep for most of the day every day.
At that time, people said that Markarth's lethargy might be due to Khorne's blessing, and that only blood could excite this warrior. In order not to harm his teammates to satisfy his thirst for blood, Markarth chose a harmless way to control himself.
Besides being sleepy, Marcus had other problems that puzzled his brothers.
That is, he always communicates with Demas, asking questions about technologies that even the old Iron Warrior finds bizarre and unbelievable.
For example, muscle cables, or resuscitation cores...
At that moment, a cold laugh rang out; it was Bennett who said, "Are you puzzled by Marcus's changes? Haven't you changed much too?"
Bennett's gaze swept over them one by one. He looked at Faerun first and said, "Our plague pig friend now looks like a forest priest from Eldar mythology. The grassy scent he exudes is completely inconsistent with his past experiences. Not to mention Mortalian himself, even a Dark Lord of Shapeshifters would not believe that Faerun was once a Death Guardian."
Then she looked at Sharon, "And our most trusted psionic wizard, you were once shrouded in the taste of defeat, exuding incompetence in every way, but look at you now..."
"Am I finally starting to look like I'm doing well?" Sharon's eyes lit up. He was really craving his brothers' approval, but Bennett just shrugged and said nothing.
"You're still a loser! You just look somewhat harmless. Now if you stand in front of those Imperials, at least they'll listen to you before firing their cannons..."
Sharon lowered his head dejectedly. He didn't know how to refute Bennett. He had previously wanted to promote the faith of the Dark Gods in the Flawless City, but under Markus's orders, he could only do the job with words.
As time went by, Sharon did not allow anyone to utter the great names of the dark gods. Instead, they used it as a test of their loyalty to the Savior. Now, Sharon was not only not preaching, but he himself was almost brainwashed by the word "Savior".
As for what the Savior is?
Marcus didn't give a clear explanation; he just let them figure it out themselves, and whatever they thought it was, that's what it was.
Is he a disguise for the Lord of Fate? Or an incarnation extracted from a certain concept of the Blood God? Or is he merely a lie fabricated by Markus to facilitate his rule?
Sharon was very interested in the true nature of the Savior, while the other brothers were less interested. The Unified Hand Warband was growing, but most of the recruits used gene seeds from the pragmatic Iron Warriors. They couldn't be bothered to analyze what the Savior meant. As long as this thing didn't twist their bodies every now and then, forcing them to replace their body parts with metal, everything was fine.
Bennett then looked at Antoine, the emperor's son, who was holding green dust and looking worried. He couldn't really tell what had changed about Antoine, after all, the emperor's son had always been an unpredictable madman.
"Alright." Bennett clapped his hands twice. "Stop wasting time. Whatever this powder is, we have to try it, don't we? Standing here and talking won't solve anything."
"Then leave it to me?" Sharon weakly raised his hand; only he could handle this kind of psionic product.
"You?" Bennett covered his forehead with his hand. "I called other people over. At least they won't blow up the floor beneath our feet."
Chapter 629: Do all believers in God kowtow?
Hearing Bennett's words, Sharon became even more sorrowful. If he weren't a Space Marine, his complaint would have been tinged with a tearful grievance. "You...you called Falla and Elaine? I personally trained them."
"The student surpasses the teacher; don't flatter yourself."
No sooner had Bennett finished speaking than two light footsteps drifted in from outside the door. Falla, the devout leader of the Immaculate City, and Elaine, its sole navigator, stood before Bennett's judgment.
"What happened?" Faya's voice was slightly out of breath; she had run all the way from the Soul Ascension Array at the very bottom of the Flawless City.
"I smell... a very strange smell..." Elaine, who had nothing to do since she wasn't sailing, covered her nose with her hand and smelled a strong subspace scent.
"Take a look at this, do you have any inspiration?"
Antoine walked over and showed the powder in his hand to the two of them. Sharon tried his best to pretend that he was not interested, but he still glanced over.
"Um..."
Psychic energy has always emphasized feeling with the heart. Falla and Elaine both closed their eyes at the same time, extending their psychic energy to touch the powder.
"Don't touch me!"
"Don't touch me!"
Their psychic powers intertwined like two hands above the powder, and they whispered criticisms of each other's roughness before reaching a balance.
Hmm....
Falla opened her eyes first, and looking at Antoine, she gave her opinion, "This powder seems to be a material for some kind of teleportation ritual. Lord Markus may have been accidentally teleported away by this powder."
"Then how do we find him?"
“Hmm…” Falla didn’t speak, but reached out to Antoine for some powder, and then she pulled out a pentagonal plate from her eccentric robe, which was the same color as ashes, and placed it on the ground.
What is she going to do?
Everyone was curious about this, even Sharon, who had never taught Falla to do so.
Bennett frowned. He felt that Falla's movements were somewhat familiar, just like... just like when Antoine had found the Comorian hallucinogens on enemy corpses.
Suddenly remembering something, Bennett slapped the straw out of Falla's hand and screamed, "Mortal, what are you doing?"
"Huh?" Falla was a little confused. "Using this powder, Lord Bennet?"
"Is this how you use this powder? You look like a damn drug addict!"
Falla felt a little wronged, "But...that's how things that can activate psionic energy are usually used..."
"Who told you that's how it's used?" Bennett's gaze was sharp as a knife as he glared at Sharon, who waved her hands in a flustered manner, indicating that she had never been taught that way.
"That's how people in the bottom nest do it..."
Upon hearing the word "bottom nest," Bennett fell silent, simply pouring the powder from the Falla board back into Antoine's hands.
Falla was somewhat disappointed, even a little scared, but these feelings dissipated amidst Antoine's teasing.
"I had no idea that the bottom nest could produce such interesting things. How about you take me to look for them next time?"
Bennett ignored Antoine's voice and placed his last hope on Elaine, hoping that the navigator could solve their current predicament.
After a long while, Elaine opened her eyes, or rather, her eyes had never been completely closed; the third eye hidden behind the jeweled headdress was always wide open, sensing everything in the world.
“I need to do some preparation.” Elaine knelt on the ground and took a glove from her slung pouch, a gift from Marcus.
Besides its commemorative value, this glove also has some amazing uses.
Elaine put the gloves on her fair neck and wound them up, making them tighten little by little. The feeling of suffocation made her face turn a little red, but it did not affect her next action. Elaine seemed to be used to working in a suffocating environment.
Just as Bennett was wondering what Elaine would do next, he saw her take out a board and a straw...
"Enough!" Bennett roared. "I thought you were going to do something else, but it turns out you're going to become a drug addict like Falla? No, you're even worse than her. At least you know how to amplify the pleasure by using the feeling of suffocation!"
“But…but that’s how things that stimulate psychic energy are used…” Elaine said weakly, “You just don’t know because you don’t have psychic energy.”
“So...it doesn’t seem to make sense.” Demas replied, recalling the past. “We destroyed many alien civilizations on our expedition. Their temples crumbled under our fire. The places where the most temples were built were not the core areas of their culture and economy, but the places of origin of some kind of hallucinogen. When religion originated, those prophets communicated with the gods with their not-so-clear minds.”
"So the earliest believers were actually all people who smoked drugs?" Sharon was hearing this for the first time, and he couldn't help but look at Antoine a few more times.
“I don’t know,” Demas replied indifferently. “I’m neutral and not interested in this. I’m just stating my opinion.”
Bennett really didn't know what to say. He waved his hand to indicate his speechlessness, telling Falla and Elaine to do whatever they wanted, as long as they didn't kill him.
The two women exchanged a glance, then each took a small amount of powder and inhaled it. They coughed twice, covering their mouths, and then an almost realistic hallucination appeared before their eyes.
The boundless forest was silent and dark, and Falla and Elaine felt surrounded by cold, unable to move.
Despite the unfamiliarity, there was still a sense of familiarity; the two found the scent left by Markus as he traversed the forest.
“Please close your eyes,” Elaine said to Falla, who immediately complied. Then Elaine removed her crown, revealing a third eye that could look directly into the warp.
"What a terrible smell..." Ferren shuddered involuntarily. "This kind of forest is definitely not what a loving father would like..."
As soon as he finished speaking, Falla and Elaine, whose bodies had become somewhat ethereal, solidified again. At the same time, a large door appeared out of thin air and opened wide. The darkness inside made even Bennett, who called himself the Son of Midnight, feel hesitant to leave.
“It’s dangerous here…” Demas warned in a low voice. “Perhaps Marcus can conquer this place with courage, but we might have to risk our lives…”
“Marcus must have gone in here!” Antoine said firmly. He turned to look at his brothers, determined to go in and find Marcus no matter what they said.
The second to express his opinion was Ferren, who chuckled and said, "Let's go, let's go and bring Marcus back."
Bennett snorted and stood next to Feren with his arms crossed.
Sharon shook his head and said, "Marcus saved my soul, and I will never abandon him."
"And what about you, Demas?"
"Me?" Demas flew forward a few meters, leading everyone to believe that he was going to follow. Although he did not have the body of a Space Marine, his mechanically constructed body was equally deadly, with cannons hidden in the closed gaps.
Just as Demas was a few meters away from the group, he suddenly accelerated and rammed all four of them into the hole. However, he did not let out the arrogant laugh of a usurper. Instead, he said calmly, "Someone has to watch over things. I can't let Marcus's hard work go unsupervised. You can go ahead with peace of mind."
The four disappeared into the darkness of the gate. Demas shut down the rocket and stood still, waiting with Falla and Elaine for the good news that they would bring Markus back.
On the other side, Markarth had become the focus of the battlefield. He was unstoppable, leading the Space Marines' charge at the forefront. Although no one knew his name, the concept of the Legion of the Dead had been deeply imprinted in the hearts of every warrior.
With a powerful, heavy slash, Markus ripped the writhing pilot out of a Hellbeast, then crushed the screaming, maggot-like creature under his foot.
"Caw!" The dark angels cheered for Markars, "The Legion of the Dead has humiliated the Hellbeasts! The Legion of the Dead is invincible!"
Chapter 630: The young man immediately stood at attention!
Marcus didn't really enjoy the cheers of the Dark Angels. He just felt something sticky under his feet. He didn't know what kind of monster the pilot inside the Hellbeast had been tortured into. The pilot, Komi, didn't even feel any soul flowing into the Pure White Hall. Stomping the Hellbeast's pilot to death was as meaningless as stepping on a cloud of air.
"Continue the attack! For the sake of our lord!"
Markarus raised his weapon and shouted, and the Dark Angels became even more fanatical, also shouting for their savior. Only the priest in the group, the hot-tempered Azmod, persisted in his original slogan.
"For the Emperor!"
But the sound was quickly drowned out...
The Dark Angel's roar aroused suspicion among the other uninformed chapters. They repeatedly accessed Azrael's communication channels to inquire about the relationship between Markarth and the Savior. When they also learned of the existence of the Legion of the Dead, Koji could only summarize their subsequent reaction in one sentence.
The Astartes lads stood at attention.
Soon, more and more people were shouting for the salvation of the Lord. In a short period of time, the traditional imperial faction and the reformist salvation faction were evenly matched, and this all depended on the culture of the battle group itself.
Some chapters are ruthless and warlike, having abandoned the weakness of humanity and firmly believing that unwavering loyalty will earn them the Emperor's reward. These people are not only ruthless to their enemies, but also equally vicious to their allies. If an Astragalus blocks their path, these warriors will not slow their pace for the sake of avoiding it; they would rather charge straight through and then complain in their hearts that mortals are such a burden.
Such a chapter would naturally not produce Space Marines who aspire to the Legion of the Dead; they would prefer the Cursed Legion's destructive style, and therefore they would not change the Emperor's name to Savior, nor would they believe that the Imperium of Man needs so-called mercy and tolerance.
Other warbands treat mortals in a more conventional way, neither being too affectionate nor too contemptuous of them, simply regarding them as comrades they have worked with.
In these warbands, the warriors who tend to favor the Legion of the Dead are mostly young people whose passion has not been washed away by the brutal flames of war. They want to do their best to save as many mortals and as many worlds as possible, until they realize that there is no peace in the universe and that the people they save now will die tragically and inexplicably tomorrow.
If the Space Marines attacking Blackrock Fortress included Salamanders, they would likely have been more comfortable accepting the title of Savior.
As for Octar, a veteran of the Great Crusade, he would never regard the Emperor as a religious figurehead. Therefore, he would not call upon the Emperor or the Savior, but would instead silently chant the names of Maclag and Guilliman in his heart.
The faith of Space Marines is far stronger than that of mortals. Even with a 20/80 split and even with less resolute shouts, Komi could still sense a large number of faith groups appearing in the pure white hall, waiting for him to use them.
Komi planned to thoroughly investigate the nature of these faith groups after the war, to see which Primarch their genetic seeds originated from, and what kind of miraculous power he could extract from them.
Although the Oathbreakers had built a strong defense in Blackrock Keep, they still retreated under the fierce attack of the Space Marines. After all, they were not the elite of the Black Legion, but just a group of pardoned traitors.
Sending them to guard this fortress was a last resort.
