Void Sanctuary Station is a Void station belonging exclusively to a certain family of navigators. Its inhabitants are all Void Children adapted to low-gravity life, and sending them to live on a planet with solid ground would cause their fragile bones to be crushed by gravity.
The station's sole function is to assist the noble and pure-blooded navigators in monitoring the ever-changing warp and charting safer and more stable routes for the Imperial fleets traveling to and from the region.
Looking at the Void Holy Array Station, which was slowly moving under the starlight in the distance, Sharon's first words were in line with Koken's stereotype of the Chaos War Gang.
To rob or not to rob
“This place must be incredibly rich,” Antoine guessed after being punched by Komi. “Even without particularly good weapons, those sacred artifacts used to help navigators stabilize their minds would definitely fetch a good price.”
“Then what about slaves? We need some slaves,” Bennett asked, while Antoine rolled his eyes and said sarcastically.
“If even the son of an emperor doesn’t bring up the issue of slaves, you should understand that the people at that station are of such poor quality that they are not fit to be slaves.”
"Why do you say that? Aren't we all just weak mortals?" Ferren expressed his incomprehension at Antoine's theory.
Antoine, puffing out his chest like a teacher lecturing, said with a hint of boasting about his knowledge, "The Void Station is full of Void Children. Even the Dark Mechanics don't bother with those skinny guys; they just crush them up and feed them to other slaves. As for entertainment, their degenerated nerves aren't very fun, and they often break down halfway through. It's better to find a barbaric world and get some strong, muscular young men."
"So this is why your brothers died? In order to find some strong mortal slaves, they ended up in a recruitment world of an Imperial warband, and in the end, only you survived?" Bennett ruthlessly exposed Antoine's past.
Seeing the Emperor's son's face turn red with anger, Bennett's pale face also gained a smug blush.
After being speechless for three seconds over the bickering of these Space Marines, Komi slammed his hand on the table. As the oldest, most powerful, and most domineering of the five, he naturally became the leader of the team.
Koji pointed at Sharon, instructing the Word Bearer to use psychic magic to scout out the defenses of the Void Sacred Site.
“Me?” Sharon swallowed hard.
"What? Is there a problem?"
"No, no, no... I'm just a little worried. What if something goes wrong again..." Sharon glanced at Antoine, the emperor's son narrowing his eyes and revealing undisguised killing intent.
Komi waved his hand and said, "Don't worry about so much, just do it! Why are you being so indecisive, just like that idiot Loka? It's because he's so hesitant and timid that he lost face as a Primarch during the Horus Rebellion."
Chapter 97: Sharon's psychic talent is not ideal.
Everyone chuckled, but Sharon blushed and didn't dare utter a word amidst Komi's mockery.
But to be honest, these young men had a rather shallow understanding of what had happened during the Great Expedition and the Great Rebellion.
In the human Empire, Space Marines are often referred to as the Emperor's Angels of Death, not only because their arrival brings death to Xenomorphs and traitors, but also because they are so rare and precious to the vast Empire that they are like angels from mythology.
One million Space Marines are scattered across galaxies measured on astronomical scales, fighting to protect humanity's eternal existence.
Many people never see a Space Marine in their entire lives.
Some planets that have been at peace for too long even regard the Space Marines as a ridiculous story of the Empire of Man threatening them not to rebel, and only when the heavenly fire arrives do they cry out the title of the Angel of Death in horror.
All knowledge is relative. For Gu Jian, who has read countless official Warhammer books, there are very few things that are mysterious and unknown.
Primarchs, gods—Komi possesses their dark histories and can even unearth their lives across several other timelines.
Sharon, Faerûn, Antoine, and Bennett, however, cannot compare to Komi; the Primarchs are mythical figures to them as well.
Not to mention Bennett's original form, Conrad Coz, who vanished without a trace after being assassinated ten thousand years ago, and no one knows where the Midnight Ghost is now.
So, after his anger and shame subsided, Sharon looked at Komi, hoping to get more information about their Primarch Father from the veteran.
Koji simply waved his hand dismissively and impatiently urged Sharon to finish his work quickly.
Sharon sat cross-legged, took out a well-sealed vial of blood from the tactical belt of his armor, and then drew a blasphemous magic circle on the ground.
He sat in the middle, his eyes becoming as chaotic and formless as the warp, his body radiating an ominous light and the shadowy hand of a demon.
He muttered incoherently, and no one could understand his garbled words. They could only stand aside and wait for Sharon to finish his reconnaissance of the Void Holy Array Station.
Then, a sudden change occurred.
Sharon began to tremble. As expected, his mediocre psychic abilities failed him. Antoine immediately ran far away, fearing that Sharon's failed spell might have caused him to lose some parts of his body.
Sharon shook his head violently, even leaving afterimages. His hands, which were resting on his knees, clenched tighter and tighter, sparks flying from the friction between his gauntlets and knee pads.
"Sigh..." Komi gained a deeper understanding of Sharon's psionic talent. As a Space Marine, he couldn't even compare to Falla in terms of the stability of his psionic abilities.
Finally, having no other choice, Gu Jian stepped into the magic circle, intending to drag Sharang out of it by force or try to stabilize his spiritual energy with his large hand, just as he had stabilized Faya before.
Bennett watched coldly as Komi stepped into the magic circle. Rushing into a magic circle that a wizard was about to lose control of was an extremely dangerous thing. The best solution was to use bullets to kill the wizard who was about to lose control.
The area around Sharon has become a gateway for demons to freely enter and exit the warp and reality. Those fiends who crave souls and flesh don't care what these people believe in.
According to Bennett's plan, Komi would be grabbed by the legs by these demons and dragged into a corner of the warp to be devoured alive; none of them would survive.
But Komi was completely unharmed. The evil aura of those demons couldn't even stop him. They were as harmless as the morning mist, and were crushed by Komi's legs.
Was this World Devourer veteran protected by the Blood God?
Bennett thought to himself, glancing at Feren beside him. This stinking death guard had no opinion whatsoever about Gu Jian's intrusion into the magic circle, and was just poking his rotting intestines with his finger.
Both are bestowing blessings, but look at others.
Bennett disgustedly stuck out his tongue and vowed that if he ever really had nowhere else to turn, he would worship the God of Blood.
Sharon trembled, gripped by deep fear, his eyes seeing only millions of black crows with scarlet eyes.
They howled, their final, terrifying echoes reverberating deep within Sharon's soul.
"You must pay the price...you must atone for your betrayal with your blood..."
"No! Don't come any closer!" Sharon screamed at the crows that were getting closer and closer to him, but it did nothing and only amplified the fear in his heart.
"Behave yourself, you idiot!"
A disgruntled rebuke rang out, like a thunderbolt from the sky, instantly scattering the thousands of crows.
Sharang, panting after surviving the ordeal, then felt his head being gripped tightly by a large hand; crushing his head was as easy as a thought from this person.
Seeing Sharon staring blankly at him, Komi released his large hand from Sharon's head and asked, "Have you gathered any information?"
Sharon blinked, slumped down, and slowly replied, panting, "The Void Station's remote defense system and communication network seem to have failed, but I also saw something else, which I will try to describe."
The golden color was stained by mottled purplish-red, and the complete pattern was covered by a large blob of black oil. The wind condensed into sharp shapes but could not pry open the heavy squares.
People, including Sharon, felt that the information was mysterious and made no difference as to saying nothing at all.
But that's how psionic reconnaissance works. Few psionicists can see a clear and complete picture. More often than not, they can only glimpse mottled colors distorted by the warp. In the end, they can only rely on experience and luck to decipher the information little by little and convey the unclear information to those who need it.
Finally, amidst the silence of the crowd, Ferren said optimistically, "At least the scene is quite chaotic, and isn't chaos advantageous to us?"
“Yes…” Bennett scoffed at Ferren’s optimism, regarding it as a laughable folly.
Ultimately, it was Koken who made the decision. He pondered for a moment, his gaze flickering back and forth between the Void Holy Map Station and the dilapidated ghost ship, before finally making his decision.
"Let's raid that void station..."
"You're the boss, we'll listen to you." Antoine moved closer, showing his indifferent attitude.
Before Komi could finish speaking, he pointed to the human skin decorations on Antoine and Bennett's bodies, as well as some other decorations that looked horrifying and blasphemous.
"Remove all your ornaments. We need to proceed with caution until we have a clear understanding of the defenses inside the Void Sacred Array Station."
"Be careful?" Bennett asked instinctively.
"What? You have a problem with that?"
"No, no, no..." Bennett hurriedly shook his head, removing the human skin and barbed chains from his body one by one, and not forgetting to remind Koken with his eyes that his own skull spikes were not some understated decorations.
Reminded by this, Komi remembered, grabbed the welded spikes, and with a forceful pull, threw them to the ground.
Seeing Komi's indifferent attitude towards the spoils of war, Bennett and Komi silently distanced themselves from each other.
"What a lunatic..."
Chapter 98: Even Space Marines Have Valuable Items
Antoine's helmet was ruined, and his terrifying face looked awkward no matter how you looked at him, not to mention the unusual fragrance emanating from him.
Finally, he took the flamethrower that Sharon had used to deal with the stench of Feren, adjusted the power, and sprayed it at Antoine a few times.
The passive ability to avoid being hit by ranged weapons proved quite useful at this moment; all the flames grazed Antoine's body, only releasing an unusual fragrance through the intense heat.
Finally, Komi found some old bandages and wrapped them around Antoine's face, leaving only his eyes exposed.
"Alright, that's good enough." Komi clapped his hands, quite satisfied with his handling of the situation.
Antoine, however, found the simplicity of the man himself rather unbearable. "It's so boring. I look like a dull steel warrior now."
Bennett then asked Komi, "Will this really work? We're the kind of people everyone in the Empire hates. Even if we take off our ornaments, we can't pretend to be those loyal dogs of the Empire, can we?"
“There is a possibility of exposure,” Komi answered honestly. “But the Imperials know very little about the Space Marines. They can’t distinguish between the different chapters. If you’ve met enough Space Marines, you should know that some Space Marines do pretty bloody and brutal things besides worshipping the Emperor… the Corpse King.”
“I hope your judgment is correct.” Bennett pursed his lips, then followed Komi toward the ship’s only airdrop pod.
“Ferren, you smell terrible when you're with Sharon.”
At Komi's command, Feren stopped, looking somewhat dejected. Finally, amidst Sharon's screams, he helped his weak brother to his feet and prepared to take him to the kitchen to find some food.
Antoine gloated over Sharon's impending doom, his eyes, barely visible, radiating a sense of schadenfreude.
This drop pod was clearly Bennett's property; aside from some spikes that made it look even more menacing, it had no other decorations, and even the warp corruption of the warp was rarely seen.
“Hela is my darling. I’d give anything to keep her healthy.” Bennett gently stroked the armor of the airdrop pod and showed Komi the Iron Warrior certified warranty repair.
Antoine said seriously, "Bennett, you're a real freak. There's no one in our Sons of the Emperor with the same eccentricities as you. If you found a few female mechanical clerics, I could teach you a thing or two. Every time we repair your airdrop pod, it costs us a lot of resources."
"What do you know? This is our only means of communication with the outside world, or do you want to drift through the warp and void in power armor?"
"Last time we had the capability to recover a shuttle, but what did Hela do? She tore the shuttle's wings apart with explosives from the turret, and we had to continue using this grumpy drop pod."
"You're not allowed to talk about Hela like that! She's just a little shy!"
"Alright, alright! Stop arguing, you two childish brats!" Gu Jian shouted, clenching his fists. The longer he spent with these Chaos Space Marines, the more he sensed their hidden talents.
No wonder Tzeentch cursed them; such a hilarious sight would make anyone laugh.
However, Koji couldn't laugh. After all, these seemingly unreliable guys were teammates he had to help, and their stupidity only made Koji's blood pressure rise higher and higher.
Crawling into the airdrop pod, Bennett operated Hela's control panel. After the hissing sound of the pressure relief valve activating subsided, Hela shot towards the Void Sanctuary Station.
This drop pod, named Hela, can either crash down swiftly or land safely on a platform, depending on the needs of the battle.
Komi and the others flew quickly past the silent weapon platform of the Void Station and finally landed on the open helipad.
They put the transparent spherical mask that isolated the vacuum on Antoine, and then activated the magnetic device on his boots, which attached to the metal floor as they walked toward the closed door.
“It’s so quiet. There’s not a single guy checking our information.” Bennett surveyed his surroundings, then watched as Komi placed his hand on the heavy door.
