"Are you just all talk and no action?"
Bennett responded to Nev's provocation by activating his Lightning Claw and charging towards Nev.
The speed that burst forth in an instant was too fast for Nev to catch; his hand had just reached for his chainsaw when it was swiftly slashed down.
“Your blood tastes terrible, it’s the blood of the weak.” Bennett didn’t stop his actions, and with a few more slashes of his lightning claws, he peeled Nev’s power armor off his body.
That wasn't enough. Bennett then took out his steel needles and inserted them deep into the gaps between Nev's bones. He flicked the ends of the needles with his fingers, and Nev was in so much pain that he couldn't even scream. He could only bulge his bloodshot eyes and grit his teeth to endure the pain.
From the moment he made his move to the moment he subdued the demon, it was only a split second. Although Bennett was somewhat helpless against the Great Demon, it didn't mean that the Space Marines from other Warbands could get on his good side.
Although the Burning Palace War Gang had a large number of members, they were not united. Some warriors looked at Nev's pained and dying appearance and just sneered, without any intention of helping him.
Nev knelt there, utterly humiliated, accepting the ridicule of the crowd. Bennett, not wanting to waste any more time on this fool, simply beckoned everyone to a good spot he knew.
A Chaos Space Marine, mutated even more severely than Nev, suddenly charged from behind Bennett, his neck bearing two identical, enormous heads glued together.
People often complain that Faren is too bulky; he can fill the entire space in an elevator just by standing there.
Half of Hela's enormous chamber, capable of holding twenty Space Marines, was occupied by the Faerûn. This was, of course, an exaggerated mockery, but now the insults that had been inflicted on the Faerûn had become a reality.
Such a huge and bloated Chaos Space Marine, his armor could no longer contain his flesh, the bolts were cracked and splintered, and the armor was uneven and full of cracks, making it seem to onlookers that this person had undergone some kind of inhuman self-destruction modification.
This man's weapon is a massive meteor hammer that requires two hands to wield, and with his strength, he can swing it as easily as wielding a short blade.
The warriors of the Burning Palace Battle Clan, each with their own ulterior motives, couldn't help but chuckle softly. "That little bat is doomed... Nev's a fool, but his brother holds a grudge..."
bang!
Komi held off the meteor hammer with one hand. Bennett was grateful but stubborn, turning his head away arrogantly and saying that he didn't need her help.
Komi braced himself against the meteor hammer, and the more he looked at the deformed freak in front of him, the more he felt that the corruption and mutation of Bennett and the others were surprisingly minimal.
There were no extra eyes growing around the corners of his eyes, no extra horns on his forehead, and his teeth remained straight, not sharp like a shark's.
At most, it just has some strange quirks.
"Get out of here, you disgusting thing." Koji shouted at the freak in front of him, not expecting that these two brainless guys could understand his advice.
So the power gathered in the legs, waiting for this deformed monster to bring about its own demise.
A roar is always the beginning of a monster suppressing its prey. The mutated monster sprayed a lot of corrosive saliva on Komi, and then raised its meteor hammer high, trying to make Komi's head and feet stick together.
A powerful kick, even faster than his strike, landed on his abdomen. Markus's immense strength was on full display at that moment. If the Primarch of the Iron Warriors, Peturabo, were here, he would surely comment that Komi's heavy kick possessed the flair he had once displayed when he had severely injured his disappointing offspring.
The mutated monster flew far away and crashed in front of the Burning Palace Battle Gang. They gasped in disbelief that a Devourer covered in patches and missing an arm could possess such power.
The Burning Palace Gang ignored the loss of life of Nev and his brother, and the onlookers did not extend any kindness they had to them.
Just as the freak and Nev both died, Sharon realized that a vicious curse was being activated by their deaths.
Chapter 132: Something's not right! There's a... conspiracy!
The warp is a place where life is uncertain, and the protection of the gods is full of all sorts of possibilities.
When one has been submerged in the chaotic tide for too long, even if the body's owner realizes that something is wrong, he will be unable to save his thoroughly corrupted soul.
The gods only wish for the mortals struggling in the warp to provide them with more pleasure. When weak mortals attempt to defy the will of the gods, punishment follows.
Nevna's deformed brother may have realized his filth and ugliness in the last second before his death, as everything he possessed as a human being was washed away by his deformed limbs.
Throwing himself into chaos... was the worst mistake he ever made in his life, without exception.
This idea was mocked by the gods, and then became the spark that ignited the bomb.
The swollen body suddenly exploded, affecting Nev and all the members of the Burning Palace War Gang. Their armor was forcibly intertwined with flesh and blood, and a larger, more deformed monster roared as it formed.
Several heads were forcibly squeezed onto a new face; they were destined not to be the sole controllers of this body, but to give way to the more powerful Chaos Origin.
A scarlet eye formed amidst these heads, scanning all living things around him with an emotionless gaze.
Whether on the side of the Empire or the side of Chaos, everyone is used to calling these abnormal beings that are so chaotic that no obvious characteristics can be found "Chaos Eggs".
Chaos eggs vary in strength, and this behemoth that has brought together the Burning Palace War Gang is definitely a powerful one.
Some of the spectators had already begun to retreat; they weren't about to risk their lives to clean up this horrible thing for the Iron Warriors.
They're here to trade and relax, not to be security guards for the Iron Warriors!
The surveillance cameras couldn't even capture the full picture of the Chaos Egg; the flickering phantom it transmitted to the control room was enough for the Iron Warriors to immediately dispatch patrols to suppress it.
Now, the Chaos Egg has set its sights on Komi and Bennett, wanting to use their flesh and blood to quell its hunger and rage.
However, how could the Chaos Egg, which inspires fear in others, possibly intimidate Komi, who had just defeated two great demons?
He threw four spears in quick succession, then stepped forward and delivered a fifth punch.
The movements were fluid and seamless, executed in one go.
The fist struck the enormous single eye directly, and half of the Chaos Egg's body, along with the eyeball, exploded out. The mutated flesh and blood splattered onto the Steel Fortress's buildings, forged from despair, and stopped pulsating due to the loss of its host's life support.
The remains of the Chaos Egg lay before Komi, and the Steel Warriors patrol who rushed over and the Chaos War Gang who had stayed far away were all extremely surprised by his strength.
Some warlords who considered themselves powerful even considered trying to win him over. They started their conversation with a few words of destruction and made many promises to Koken.
One of the things to do is to find Komi a good enough arm, rather than some uncontrollable deformed or mutated limb.
Koji had no interest in these plunderers. He coldly ignored the warlords' offers of recruitment and led Bennett and the others past the Iron Warriors.
The Iron Warriors were not grateful to Komi for solving a major problem for them; instead, they felt that he had taken away a good opportunity for them to fight.
Koken exchanged a glance with these steely, rigid men, cursing them inwardly that they weren't even as quick-witted and adaptable as their arch-rival, the Fist of the Empire.
However, these words could not be spoken aloud, for the petty Iron Warrior would think that the six of them plus a dog would not be able to leave easily and leisurely.
Leaving the noisy area, Sharon leaned over and whispered to the others about his discovery: "That Chaos Egg is not right. It doesn't seem like an accident at all; it's more like a conspiracy against us."
"A conspiracy against us?" Antoine completely lost faith in Sharon after seeing him unleash a lightning-fast trident strike that also landed on him. "Don't be so paranoid, Sharon. There are plenty of idiots who would kick a scrawny, skinny stray dog on the roadside. Do you think those newbies from the Burning Temple Warband would still bother us if Master Markas wore a brand-new suit of armor?"
Sharon moved his lips, thinking that Antoine's words made sense; in the past, there had been many people who had caused them trouble.
He glanced at Komi's back again, and seeing that this World Devourer showed no fear or tension, he became too lazy to care about the strange smell in the Chaos Egg.
Anyway, my older brother will take care of it.
Comprehensive entertainment facilities.
The shop's name is exactly like that; it's clear that the name was chosen by a steel warrior.
It's full of captured human servants who, after proper training and various modifications by the Iron Warriors, are able to perform their duties as servants very well.
Their status in this broken steel fortress is no different from that of a cheap rag or the laborers who risk their lives in the hellish factories.
Their survival in this manner is entirely due to trade and diplomatic considerations. If Broken Steel Castle were a closed fortress that was not open to the outside world, their only value would be to be minced into a paste and mixed into the meals given to the laborers.
Some warriors have begun to release the immense pressure they have accumulated from the horrors and wars of the Warp. The Imperial Space Marines restrain their inner desires by worshipping the Emperor, the glory of victory, and the respect of the Imperial subjects, striving to become the Emperor's bloodless and tearless executioner.
The Chaos Space Marines didn't care about such things. Very few veterans remembered the grand goals of the Great Rebellion; most were fallen men chasing after greater pleasures.
The warriors in the pool of blood were grabbing the fleeing servants, laughing maniacally as they stomped their feet and crushed them into a bloody pulp amidst their meaningless pleas for mercy.
Separated by transparent tempered glass, the debauchery room is where warriors unleash their perverse desires, suspending their servants on racks and mercilessly humiliating them with their mutated limbs.
The Chaos Space Marines committed atrocities during the war, but they did not forget to hone their skills during their recuperation.
Elaine felt boundless disgust as she looked at these warriors who were indulging in flesh and lust. To her, the warriors in this facility were as wretched as Antoine's illegitimate children.
Without comparison, there is no harm; their daily activities only make Elaine's opinion of Komi better and better.
My master is the best... He is full of honor and would never waste his energy on such pointless venting.
Bennett wasn't particularly interested in the male and female slaves; he simply went to the bar and ordered the bartender to give him some blood wine.
“This tastes good.” Bennett grinned and downed the large glass of blood wine in one gulp.
Komi looked at his stained red teeth, sniffed them, and immediately realized that this thing was a terrible concoction made by mixing human blood and alcohol.
His mouth was drooling, his body instinctively craving this bloody stuff.
However, Komi could not accept this drink. He would rather tear off the dog's tongue and put it in his mouth than drink human blood mixed with alcohol.
Finally, he put the cup aside and said calmly to the others, "There are three kinds of blood I will not drink. I will not drink blood that I did not hunt, because I would rather starve than accept charity. I will not drink the blood of the weak, because their blood is not strong or powerful enough. I will not drink the blood of the strong either, because I respect their bravery and will not tarnish the glory of battle with it."
Doesn't that mean not drinking any at all?
Bennett had nothing to say and could only pour himself a drink.
When Elaine saw that Komi hadn't drunk the blood wine, her tightly furrowed brows relaxed, and she breathed a sigh of relief, gently patting her chest.
My master is truly principled.
(I'm really too tired to continue, let me catch my breath. Waaah...)
Chapter 133: If you don't want it, then the plan is shelved.
"Alright, alright." Bennett was already used to Komi's various strange insistences, so he simply took his cup and distributed it to the other brothers.
Bennett's relaxed demeanor led people to ask him if he used to visit Broken Steel Castle frequently.
“I have indeed been here many times before,” Bennett replied directly. “Back then, I was living a much better life than I am now. If my old boss hadn’t fallen ill, I don’t think I would have gotten involved with people like you.”
"Your old boss? You mean that Blood Eater who runs the Blood Arena?" Antoine asked, rarely hearing Bennett recount his own story.
Bennett shook his head. "It's another one. The World Eater was a leader from much earlier times."
"So what illness did your old boss get?" Gu Jian asked, making a small joke, "He couldn't have turned into a Chaos Egg too, could he?"
Bennett's expression was calm, but a hint of sadness was in his eyes. "When you are abandoned by the gods on the path of chaos, becoming a chaotic egg that cannot distinguish friend from foe, and even hates itself, becomes the only outcome."
Bennett glanced at Komi as he said this, “Listen, Marcus… I don’t know your situation right now, but you carry too many burdens. You’re like a ticking time bomb; you have nowhere to retreat, and we have nowhere to retreat with you.”
"So you're advising me not to act so recklessly in the future? To consider your feelings more?" Komi's tone was full of dissatisfaction, as if he had a choice. "If you can defeat me, you can give me orders, but if you can't, you'd better obey my arrangements."
This was indeed a response befitting the Devourer's tough style. Bennett was not surprised by it. He raised the remaining blood brew to Komi in homage and then drank it all in one gulp.
Bennett's words were interpreted as admonition by Komi, but they had a very different meaning to others.
They had previously discussed expelling the demon possessing Markars' body, but after they narrowly escaped death from the Great Demon, they deliberately avoided discussing the matter.
Anyone could see the fighting power Komi unleashed when fighting the Great Demon; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he was a one-man army of four.
If it were the original Markus, they probably wouldn't have even been able to get past the Illusion Dancer.
In the Warp, having a powerful figure protecting you is truly reassuring, not to mention that his blood can be used as medicine, which has healed and corrected Antoine's disfigured appearance and Faerûn's incurable decay.
