Chapter 18: The Team Gets a Makeover, From Slingshots to Cannons (Third Update)
Six fully armed Katachon jungle warriors marched through the dark passageways of deck seventy-five, a completely different group than they had been an hour ago.
An hour ago, they were six hunters with knives, scraping scraps from the green-skinned people in the steel jungle by traps and ambushes.
Now everyone is armed with guns, ammunition, and grenades, resulting in a qualitative leap in firepower density.
This is decent.
Number 1 stopped at the intersection of the ventilation ducts fifty meters ahead and made a standard Qatar jungle silence gesture.
Enemy, to the left front, number unknown.
Lawson instantly gained access to Number 1's full perception through the communication of consciousness.
About eighty meters to the left, in a spacious cabin, seven orc boys and more than twenty bastards were huddled together, chattering and dividing their loot.
He quickly assessed the battlefield environment.
The cabin is approximately 400 square meters in area, with a ceiling height of about six meters, and has three entrances.
They were facing the main entrance, with a half-collapsed maintenance hatch on the left and a cargo door on the right that was mostly blocked by deformed metal plates.
There weren't many green-skinned soldiers, but that was enough to test the lethality of the new equipment.
"Number 1 and 3, frontal firing positions. Number 2 and 4, flank from the left maintenance port. Number 5, follow me, advance from the front."
Twenty seconds later, everyone was in position.
Lawson counted silently in his mind.
"Three...two...one".
"Fire."
"Bang! Bang!"
Number 1 and Number 3 simultaneously pulled the trigger of the Lockheed Martin bomb gun.
Two .75 caliber reactive rounds traveled at supersonic speeds for eighty meters, accurately hitting two orc boys who were looking down and searching for their loot.
The killing mechanism of a mass reaction missile is that it first penetrates the surface of the target and then expands and explodes inside the target.
The first orc boy's chest cavity was blasted open from the inside, leaving a fist-sized hole. Green blood and fragments of internal organs sprayed nearly three meters behind him.
The second orc boy fared even worse. The bomb hit slightly higher, striking the junction between his collarbone and the base of his neck. The explosion tore apart his carotid artery and half of his shoulder, leaving his massive head lolling to one side, barely held together by a thick layer of green skin.
"Waaaaagh! Enemy attack! What's going on..."
The remaining five orc boys and twenty-odd farts went wild.
However, there is a fatal time difference between their reaction speed and that of the Katachon warriors who have already entered combat.
Units 2 and 4, which detoured from the left-side inspection port, opened fire simultaneously.
Two high-energy laser beams drew two blinding red lines in the dimly lit cabin.
The laser gun's single-shot damage is far less than that of the bomb gun, but at this distance, it's more than enough to take down a fart.
The notification sounds were as dense as a series of firecrackers, and more than a dozen farts fell to the ground one after another under the crossfire.
Lawson led number 5 to cut in from the front.
One of the orc boys finally reacted, raised his crudely made machete, and charged toward Lawson.
"Waaaaagh! I want..."
It hadn't even finished saying "I'll kill you" yet.
"boom!"
A .75 caliber bomb struck the orc boy in the face from a distance of less than fifteen meters.
The effect of a close-range bomb is on a completely different level compared to a mid-range bomb. The orc boy's entire face was wiped out in an instant.
Another orc boy attacked from the side.
This guy was a bit more muscular than the others of his kind, wearing a rough armor made of old tires and iron plates riveted together, and wielding a giant chain-tooth machete that was too big to hold with both hands.
"block!"
Number 5 stood in front of Lawson.
As the force field generator on the power shield was activated, a light blue, semi-transparent energy barrier appeared in front of the shield.
The orc boy's giant chain-toothed cleaver slammed into the power shield.
"boom!"
At the moment the force field collided with the physical impact, a dazzling blue-white electric arc was emitted.
Number 5's feet slid backward nearly a meter on the metal floor, the friction between the soles of his boots and the ground creating two streaks of sparks.
Lawson emerged from behind number 5's shield.
With the Fang of Katachon held in his left hand, he thrust it precisely upwards into the femoral artery area on the inside of the orc boy's right thigh.
Green arterial blood gushed out like a high-pressure water jet.
At the same time, Lawson pressed the explosive pistol in his right hand against the orc boy's chin.
"boom!"
The remaining two orc boys fell one after another under the concentrated fire of the bomb guns from No. 1 and No. 3.
The bastards had already scattered and fled, but with the laser guns of Number 2 and Number 4 blocking their way, less than five managed to escape.
From the moment Lawson gave the order to fire until the last shot rang out, the entire battle lasted less than forty seconds.
This is more than ten times more efficient than the previous method of fighting using only cold weapons and traps.
Lawson quickly scanned the battlefield.
The corpses of the seven orc boys lay scattered on the cabin floor, covered in green blood.
The action had to be swift; the echo of gunfire in the sealed metal passage could travel at least two kilometers.
Orcs have an instinctive, excited reaction to the sound of bomb guns firing, and it's estimated that more greenskins will soon come running at the sound.
"Number 2 and Number 4, set traps at the corner of the passage ahead. Number 3, assist in transporting ammunition."
Lawson retrieved a grenade and a Merta fuse from the armory.
The grenades were distributed in a crisscross pattern at the corners of the passage.
One set is buried under metal debris on the ground, and the other set is connected in series and fixed to the load-bearing pipes in the ceiling.
The first layer knocks down the front row, the second layer shatters the rest – a standard deep-penetration kill configuration.
After the setup was completed, Lawson selected the firing positions.
The passage splits into a Y-shape about forty meters behind the trap.
The left fork leads to a partially collapsed maintenance passage, which can be used for emergency evacuation.
The right fork in the road offers a wide field of vision, allowing for firing through a deformed isolation doorway without exposing one's body.
"Number 1 and Number 3, set up the main firing position at the right fork, using that door frame as cover. Number 2 and Number 4, set up the second firing line at the pipe intersection 30 meters behind me, and take over the fire when we retreat to your position. Number 5, follow me, and establish the core position at the Y-shaped fork."
The five assassins silently carried out their orders.
Lawson put the bomb pistol into its holster and took the heavy bomb pistol from the armory.
"Click".
The heavy, curved magazine was slammed into the feed port.
Each of these things contains almost twice the explosive charge of a standard bomb, enough to create a hole the size of a football in an orc boy.
They didn't have to wait long.
About three minutes later, increasingly dense footsteps came from the distance of the passage, along with that green-skinned war cry that we had heard countless times.
"Waaaaaagh! Shrimp! Shrimp! I smell shrimp blood!"
"The gunshots are over there! The big shrimp is over there! Waaagh!"
The first thing that came into view was a group of scattered, scatterbrained scouts.
The main force appeared about thirty meters behind them.
A dozen orc boys led over a hundred bastards in a grand procession.

Chapter 19 Harvesting Speed Increased
The orc boys carried all sorts of heavy machetes and death guns, their iron armor making a screeching metallic scraping sound as they moved.
By communicating with each other, Lawson kept everyone still.
Those spies had already passed the location of the trap without noticing.
Their footsteps were too light; their weight of less than forty pounds was enough to step on the fuse wire, not even reaching the minimum trigger threshold.
The trap is not for sycophants.
The main force of the orc boys from the rear strode over with heavy steps.
The orc boy leading the group was exceptionally burly, and each of his stomps made the metal floor vibrate, causing the horde of swarms behind him to stagger and fall.
"Five meters...three meters..."
Lawson counted silently in his mind.
We've set off.
"Boom! Boom! Boom boom!"
The tandem grenades were detonated almost simultaneously.
Within a confined space, the shockwave and fragmentation storm generated by an explosion of this magnitude are equivalent to igniting a miniature rocket inside a tin can.
