"The front line needs to consume ten million rounds of explosives every day. Three thousand Leman Rus vehicles need spare parts. Five hundred artillery pieces need to be calculated."
"The Empire has no surplus food to feed those who cannot fire a gun. The Mechanicus has no surplus computing power to sympathize with the weak."
Kane pointed to the servants.
"They were turned into machine servants."
"They don't need food, water, sleep, or fear."
"They can now carry shells, lock onto targets, and use their bodies to block the Chaos Space Marines' fire lines."
"They made the greatest contribution to the Empire's war machine."
Ella looked at Company Commander Kane.
She bit her lip until it bled.
"They are human beings."
"They are Qadian."
Ella's voice trembled.
Company Commander Kane stepped forward.
He raised his hand and placed it on Ella's shoulder armor.
"Cardian is broken."
“We are now living in Agrippina’s war machine.”
"The reason you survived in the trenches is because you had a gun and you could kill the enemy. You were valuable to the Empire."
"They didn't have guns. They couldn't kill the enemy. So they became spare parts."
Kane was silent for a second.
Then, he spoke in a very soft voice—
“I am a native of Agrippina.”
"Twenty years ago, my sister was converted into a communications servant. She is three years older than your brother."
“I went to see her.”
"She doesn't know me."
"I didn't fire a shot either."
Kane put the captured laser pistol back into Ella's holster.
He straightened the blood-stained Astral Army medal on Ella's collar.
"Build the world. Don't support idlers."
At the far end of the loading deck, the engines of the fourth armored formation began to warm up.
Ella's brother, Thomas, changed course, bypassed her, and continued moving toward the rear door of the transport vehicle.
His body swayed slightly with the bumps of the tracks.
The Cardian identification tag around his neck made a very faint "ding" sound as it touched his exposed metal chest plate.
Ella lowered her head, took the backpack off her shoulder, and gently placed it on the ground of the loading deck.
Then, she turned and followed Company Commander Kane toward the company's rest area.
Behind them, the engines of the fourth armored squadron roared in a deep rumble.
Omega-77 batch, target: War Zone One.

Chapter 154 Before your knowledge base, I am as pure as a blank sheet of paper.
Planet Obolos I, Governor's Mansion of the Pinnacle District.
The heavy cruiser Avenger, accompanied by three Sword-class escorts and guided by navigators, tore through the physical dimensions of the real universe and plunged into subspace, its target the Agrippina system.
Lawson was not on the ship, but remained in the core fortress of the Spire.
He doesn't need to waste time on tedious voyages.
Once the fleet reaches the edge of the Agrippina system and establishes a stable stasis field anchor point, he only needs to take one step to instantly traverse several light-years and bring his army directly to the battlefield.
Inside the spacious hall at the top of the tower, heavy gates slid open to both sides.
High Priest Xerath of the Dark Mechanicus's "Burning Iron Forging Guild" drove his massive tracked chassis into the hall.
Behind him, two heavy loader operators were carrying an anti-gravity pallet together.
The car stopped ten meters away from Lawson.
"Lord of the Seal."
Krus reported, "The production line for the [STC-AX/1152-LR, Suppressor Storm Bomb Gun] has completed the underlying logic setup and assembly. The first batch of samples has rolled off the line. Please inspect them."
Lawson stood up from the command seat and walked towards the anti-gravity tray.
Within the static force field of the tray, three brand-new bomb guns lay quietly.
The gun body is a deep matte black, without any engravings of scriptures used for prayer by the Mechanics or any markings of purity on its surface, only cold geometric lines and heat dissipation grilles. The gun body is 15 percent larger than a regular Space Marine bomb gun, and the barrel is particularly thick.
Lawson picked up one of them.
It feels extremely heavy.
The internal center of gravity distribution of the gun is impeccable, with no sense of imbalance caused by any machining errors.
Krus's servo prosthetic eye flashed red as it began a purely data-driven report: "Sir, this weapon model uses the Imperial standard .75 caliber. This means it is fully compatible with the Empire's existing stockpile of explosives, eliminating the risk of supply chain disruptions."
"Its core technological breakthrough lies in ballistics and detonation logic. The exclusive ammunition used by the Suppressor Storm Bomb Gun adopts a two-stage delayed detonation warhead."
A mechanical arm of the Xander Cassius extends out, projecting a perspective view of the warhead's interior into mid-air.
"The warhead has two independent charge chambers. The first charge detonates the instant it contacts the target armor, using a directional shaped charge jet to instantly burn through the outer layer of ceramic or high-strength armor. The second main charge is equipped with a three-millisecond delayed fuse. It will penetrate into the target armor along the channel cut by the shaped charge jet. After completely entering the target body or vehicle, it will release its full explosive yield."
Krus's electronic voice revealed a technological fervor: "Calculations show that, for bombs of the same caliber, this two-stage detonation increases the effective lethality against heavily armored targets and Space Marines by nearly three times."
Rosen pulled back the bolt. The sear clicked crisply.
“Barrel technology,” Lawson asked.
"This is the most groundbreaking technological reverse engineering in the STC drawings."
Krus immediately replied, "There are no traditional grooves inside the barrel. It has a built-in adaptive rifling system. Essentially, this is a microscopic cross-disciplinary application of the force field decomposition technology of power swords."
The holographic projection switches to the cross-section of the gun barrel.
"A miniature deflector force field forms a dynamic magnetic track on the inner wall of the barrel. When the firing distance is within 50 meters, the force field automatically reduces the spin rate of the projectile. Reduced spin maximizes the kinetic energy penetration of the projectile when it contacts the armor. When the target distance exceeds 500 meters, the force field automatically increases the spin rate to maximize ballistic stability and long-range accuracy."
"Regardless of the distance, the force field system will give the projectile the optimal trajectory within one ten-thousandth of a second after it leaves the barrel."
Lawson handed the explosive pistol in his hand to the assassin standing behind him.
The other two were also handed over to two other suicide squad members.
"To the firing range. Conduct extreme violence testing," Lawson ordered.
The heavy weapons testing range located underground in the tower's upper section.
At the end of the target lane, three different targets are placed.
The first piece was a standard Space Marine Mark VII terracotta breastplate; the second was a 100-millimeter-thick Leman Rustank side armor plate; and the third was a moving soft target 800 meters away.
Three assassins picked up the Suppressor Storm Bomb Gun.
Pull the trigger.
A deafening roar echoed continuously within the underground firing range.
The first explosive shell hit the Mark VII ceramic breastplate.
The two flashes were clearly visible to the naked eye.
The first thing that happened was the blinding white light on the contact surface; the focused jet instantly burned a coin-sized hole into the ceramic steel.
Three milliseconds later, a burst of dark, explosive red light erupted from inside the breastplate.
The entire thick Space Marine chest armor expanded and tore apart from the inside, turning into countless metal fragments that shot outwards.
If this breastplate were worn by a person, the internal organs and bones would be instantly turned into mincemeat by this implosion.
The second explosive shell hit the tank's side armor plate.
The 100-millimeter-thick adamant composite armor was blasted open on the back with a huge gaping hole half a meter in diameter due to the logic of the two-stage detonation.
The third suicide soldier fired a burst of fire at a moving target 800 meters away.
The adaptive rifling system came into play.
Even under the immense recoil of fully automatic fire, the explosive rounds maintain a terrifying dispersion accuracy, completely tearing moving targets to shreds.
The assassins began to unleash a violent attack.
They emptied eighteen magazines at the highest rate of fire.
The barrel glowed red, and the cooling vents spewed out hot white steam, but there was no jamming, barrel explosion, or force field attenuation.
Looking at the test results, Lawson found that the data was even better than expected.
Once this weapon is deployed, the armor-piercing capabilities of his individual soldiers will undergo a qualitative change.
Even against a monster like the Death Guard, it can be shattered head-on.
Lawson laughed: "Very good. Excellent workmanship, perfect specifications. You haven't disappointed me, Xavier."
He gave clear praise.
The Great Sage Xerox's tracked chassis retreated slightly by half a meter, and the mechanical arms overlapped once more.
"My Lord, your praise is the greatest source of energy for this factory."
"The miracle of this project was not achieved by me alone. The technicians under your command played a decisive and crucial role in it."
Xerox's prosthetic eye flickered.
