Warhammer: Empire Reboot

Blockade, burning.
Progress is made layer by layer from the periphery.
If the pollution continues to spread, use orbital firepower to flatten the entire Nest City cluster.
Sacrifice a nest city to save a continent.
Burn 10 billion to death, save 100 billion.
Within the ancient war machine of the Empire, this was even considered a passable solution.
The Astral Army's military affairs department will record the death toll in the attrition report, the Inquisition will refer to the flames as purification, and the Astartes will consider it a necessary sacrifice.
Calgary did something similar, burning millions of civilians to death, an act known as the Wrath of Calgary.
History can record such orders as cold honors, and use necessary decisions to silence the cries of civilians before their deaths.
However, in the original timeline, by the end, only one in ten of the Vigilant Stars remained.
Of the 167 billion people, less than 10 billion will remain.
More than 150 billion citizens of the Empire were crushed into dust by green wheels, cunning claws, the plague of Nurgle, the whips of the Dark Eldar, and the flames of their own people.
There was another reason why Lawson took over this place: he needed warp energy.
To upgrade 60,000 Bear Guards to the sixth rank, at least 100 million points are needed.
But if it were just for energy, he could have had Xiong Da lead the motorcycle squadron to blow East Tolia into ruins.
That would be faster, and more like an empire.
Lawson doesn't intend to do that.
He wanted to see how many people on Vigilant Star would survive after he intervened this time.
…………
Outside the parliament hall, the orders have already been issued.
Ultramarines, Iron Hands, Brass Claws, and Space Wolves were all pushed onto the Greenskins' front lines.
Calgary was sent to stabilize the situation.
Stronus went to recapture the heavy firepower node.
Haldor Frosty led his wolf cubs into the desert and abandoned highways, specifically targeting orc leaders.
The arrival of these chapters finally gave the Astragalus Army, which had been nearly crushed by the green trains, a much-needed respite.
As for the old defenses of the Death Guard and the Commoner Prince, they were taken over by the Battle Sequence and the Keystone Sequence.
During the day, they only do three things.
Lockdown. Drawing. Waiting.
After sunset, East Tolia was quiet for a short while.
So short it was like the pause before a dead person takes their last breath.
Then, the nest began to chirp.
The claws scraped across the metal pipe wall.
The infected person slapped the gate with his swollen palm.
The Death Guard's boots pounded through the puddles, and rotting blessings seeped out through the cracks.
The half-breed of a commoner prince crawled out of an abandoned ventilation shaft, his purple eyes gleaming in the darkness.
They like the night.
Nighttime terrifies civilians, tires sentries, and mixes cries for help between blocks with the gunfire.
Lawson stood on the highest platform in Saint Harbor, the wind behind him carrying dust.
In the distance, the green-skinned front lines were ablaze with artillery fire.
Further away, the Eastern Tolia hive city complex resembled a steel continent soaked in poison, shrouded in the night.
He stretched his shoulders, his smile somewhat cold.
"In order not to alert the enemy and scare away those big guys, I actually have to be cunning and go out at night."
As soon as he finished speaking, living metal flowed out from behind him.
Dark gold wings unfolded one by one, their thin, blade-like structures interlocking to form a shape.
Three thousand shadow blades rose from his sleeves, waist, back, and shadows.
The blade was dyed a dark gold color, almost like night, revealing only a glint of cold light when it rotated.
The next moment, Lawson soared into the sky.
The dust on the platform was compressed into a ring.
At Sainte-Saint-Port Square, the foundation stone sequence of the communication relay was being moved while looking up.
Several officers from the Vigilant Star who hadn't yet been transferred looked up and saw a dark golden flame pierce through the sky, heading towards East Toria.
As East Tolia drew near, Lawson hovered high in the air.
A five-hundred-kilometer psionic perception was activated.
An invisible web covers the entire East Tolia nesting community.
Towers, city blocks, underground transport levels, sewage pipes, a broken airport, factory dormitories, sanctuaries, refuges, cremation lines, and crashed ship hulls.
All life responses lit up in his consciousness.
White represents uninfected civilians.
Light gray indicates a low-risk infection.
Grayish-green, it is a transformed form of plague.
Dark green is the guardian of death.
Swarm intelligence begins to stratify.
[Target classification of the Eastern Tolia nesting cluster is complete.]
[Death Guard Unit: Marked.]
[Plague-infected: Marked.]
[Treable infected individuals: Isolation marker.]
[Uninfected civilians: Migration marker.]
[Commoner-Prince Hybrid: Clear Mark.]
[Important facilities: Protected markers.]
Three thousand shadow blades fell simultaneously.
They were like a metallic rain pouring into the nest.
The first Shadow Blade penetrated the Newport crash site.
There lay a contaminated ship, broken into three pieces, with corpses piled up in the wreckage. Several death guards were moving plague jars beside the rotting hatches and connecting them to old cargo pipelines.
One of them suddenly looked up.
Beneath the rotting helmet, the cloudy goggles briefly gleamed.
"This..."
The shadow blade pierced through the gap in the helmet, severed the cervical vertebrae, and then flew out from the back of the head.
The Death Guard knelt heavily.
Just as his two companions turned around, their bodies were separated by more than a dozen dark streaks of light.
As the pieces of meat fell to the ground, tiny golden sparks ignited from the inner cut.
Half a syllable came through the communication channel.
"Lo..."
The Shadow Blade sliced open the throat armor of the speaker.
Then came the second stronghold.
Death Guard quickly noticed that his teammates' markers were going out one by one in the tactical channel.
A plague champion stands atop an old logistics tower, with three rusty bells behind him dragged by chains, their surfaces covered in Nurgle runes.
He watched as a massive horde of corpses collapsed in the distance, and finally understood what was happening.
“Dear Father, I will take him back to the garden…”
Thirty-seven shadow blades arrived from different angles.
The plague champion froze.
It was cut into pieces inside its body.
A corner of the top of the tower collapsed with a crash.
Lawson hovered high in the air, not even glancing to the side.
"Even Typhon couldn't hold on, so who do you think you are, a piece of moldy soap?"
Shadowblade turned towards the street.
On a lower main street, infected people were packed together like a river of rotting flesh.
Ahead is a workers' dormitory area.
Hundreds of thousands of civilians blocked the entrance with iron cabinets, bed frames, doors, old pipes, and corpses.
The people behind the door have been holding out for fourteen hours.
Every time the door was bumped, the crowd shook.
"withstand!"
"Don't let go! If you back down any further, you'll be inside!"
