The undead inside were about one-third larger than the ordinary samurai.
The skeletal structure is more complex, with several additional layers of armor in the rib area and additional structures resembling weapon mounting interfaces at the shoulder joints.
It could be a tomb engineer or some kind of mid-level command unit.
Military ranks from 60 million years ago are unrecognizable today.
But whatever it once was, its resurrection protocol is equally tangled under the interference of subspace debris.
Chapter 59 The Countdown to the Existence of the Space Destroyer
Lawson reviewed the total revenue settlement at the outpost.
[472 Common Necromancers: 1416 Dimensional Anchor Fragments, 9440 Living Metal]
[High-Tier Necromancer Unit x2: Dimensional Anchor Fragment +60, Living Metal +60 liters.]
[Total: 1476 Dimensional Anchor Fragments. 9500 liters of Living Metal.]
One thousand four hundred and seventy-six dimensional anchor fragments.
Lawson opened the instructions for expanding the armory space.
The current armory space is a cube with a side length of one meter and a volume of one cubic meter.
The expansion mechanism does not simply increase the volume, but rather extends the side length synchronously in each dimension.
Each expansion increases the side length by one meter.
First expansion: Consumes 100 dimensional anchor fragments, increasing the side length from 1 meter to 2 meters.
If the side length is doubled, the volume is the cube of the side length, 2×2×2=8 cubic meters.
From one cubic meter to eight cubic meters. With one expansion, the volume became eight times the original.
Lawson immediately carried it out.
The armory space expanded in his mind; what was originally just enough to fit a large suitcase instantly became a small storage room.
Second expansion: Consumes 1000 dimensional anchor fragments, increasing the side length from 2 meters to 3 meters.
3×3×3=27 cubic meters.
Lawson continues to expand.
Two expansions consumed 1100 fragments, leaving 376 remaining.
The next expansion will require 10000 fragments, increasing the side length from 3 meters to 4 meters, or 64 cubic meters. That will mean a large-scale battle against the space necromancers.
But 27 cubic meters is already a number that Rosen is very satisfied with.
This is equivalent to the capacity of a standard shipping container.
This space is large enough to accommodate more large equipment, hundreds of boxes of ammunition, and a large number of combat tools at the same time.
More importantly, the expanded armory space is no longer fixed as a cube.
It can freely adjust its shape without changing the total volume, such as cuboid, hexagonal cross-section, or even cylindrical shape.
This means a significant increase in the flexibility of storing and transporting goods.
"Withdraw. Take everything of value with you."
The suicide squad carried out a final looting of the frigate before withdrawing.
Some well-preserved Nekeron alloy plates and several pieces of high-quality black stone ore were disassembled and transported back to the base through the armory space.
The half-destroyed space necromancer frigate has been cleared out.
The tombs of 474 ancient warriors have been turned into an empty metal shell.
When the troops withdrew from the Black Rock area to outside the 500-meter cordon, the two little devils were still being held by the assassins.
When Fekus and Zikrus saw the assassins return laden with their spoils, a hint of relief flashed in their one-eyed and one-eyed eyes, respectively.
Their value has been proven.
Leading the way to the undead frigate—such a huge discovery—perhaps…
Lawson issued a concise command through the communication between their minds.
"Kill them."
The two assassins struck simultaneously, snapping the necks of the two little devils.
In their final moments, the two little devils almost simultaneously uttered sharp, piercing curses.
"You will die!"
"Two months! In two months, this pile of scrap metal will be dragged back into the Warp! You damned human insects will all be drowned in the chaotic ocean! No one can survive in the Warp. We'll be waiting for you there! You can't escape!"
Two dark green clumps of residue evaporated and dissipated in the air.
[Subspace Energy +1.]
[Subspace Energy +1.]
The system intercepted and purified their souls.
But their dying words left a deep mark on Lawson's mind.
The derelict spacecraft is scheduled to return to subspace in two months.
Is the little devil's word believable?
They cannot lie under the oath of their true names, but the death curse is not part of answering Lawson's question and is not bound by the oath.
A dying demon will instinctively try to use its last strength to harm the person who killed it, and for a mortal trapped on a wrecked spaceship, "You are about to be dragged into the warp along with the wrecked ship" is undoubtedly the most lethal death curse.
But if what they're saying is true...
Destroyed spaceships are periodically pushed out of the boundaries of real space by the tidal forces of the warp, briefly surfacing in some corner of the Empire's dark side, only to be dragged back into the depths by the next wave of tides.
This is the root of why space wrecks are so dangerous; you never know when they might sink back into subspace.
Lawson would not stake his fate on the curse of a dying imp.
Both believing and disbelieving are foolish.
He needs cross-validation.
Two hours later, in an area near the forge site that had already been cleared out.
Lawson resorted to the same old trick.
The psionic amplification of fear spread outwards from the cargo hold.
Six minutes later, two new little devils emerged from the bulkhead.
The same process, real names, and oaths.
Then Lawson personally interrogated the suspect through a telepathic connection.
How long until this wrecked spaceship re-enters subspace?
The first imp, compelled by the oath, answered:
"No... the exact time is uncertain... but the tides in the warp... are already changing... we can feel... the ocean currents at the bottom are accelerating... dragging this pile of scrap metal back... for about... about two months here... maybe less... but no longer..."
The second one's answer was more concise.
"Two months, maybe even less. The warp has already opened its mouth."
The two separate testimonies overlapped and matched.
"Kill them."
[Subspace Energy +1.]
[Subspace Energy +1.]
After confirming the message, Lawson sat alone in front of the command post at the forge stronghold for about three minutes.
Not moving at all.
Find a way to leave the derelict spaceship within two months.
This task was immediately elevated to the highest priority, surpassing military expansion, resource accumulation, and everything else.
Because if no way to leave can be found, everything is meaningless.
Lawson mentally listed all the theoretically feasible options and then eliminated them one by one.
Finding a complete warship capable of warp travel? Requires the shield, navigator, and warp engine to all be intact. In a wrecked ship made of fragments, the probability is approximately zero.
Sending a distress signal and waiting for Imperial fleet rescue? There's no interstellar communication equipment, and this is the dark side of the Empire, where the starlight can't reach; the probability is the same as above.
After using the process of elimination, only one path remains.
During the window of time when the wrecked ship emerges from the real world, escape by small boat.
To achieve this, Lawson needs two things: a flying ship and a route to the surface of the wrecked ship.
Lawson prioritized finding available aircraft and exploring routes to the surface of the wrecked ship as two parallel mission lines, employing swarm thinking.
Then he turned to something else.
Twelve Space Marine power armor suits.
They are neatly arranged within the reinforced area of the spherical storage tank at the forge site.
Chapter 60 Power Armor Linking Solution (Third Update)
Immediately after the search operation concluded, Lawson ordered Little Wrench to lead the Buttling Labor Team to conduct preliminary inspections of the power armor.
The result was not satisfactory.
Green's technical intuition is essentially a violent aesthetic; he excels at making things "move" in the most brutal way, but his understanding of precision equipment is limited to "smash it and see if it works."
After disassembling the outer shell of a power backpack, the little wrench stared at the densely packed fusion reaction circuits and energy distribution matrix inside for a full five minutes.
"What is this thing?"
Lawson didn't expect the small wrench to be able to handle the power armor.
