That was indeed the Ultramarines' chapter seal.
It can't be faked.
When Calga saw the amount again, his finger stopped.
One thousand MK series standard Space Marine power armor sets, or equivalent supplies.
Tigurius couldn't help but take a step closer, glance at the data panel, and then he fell silent.
"Sevirus Quintus".
"Company Commander of the Fifth Company."
Tigurius whispered, "He should currently be on the expeditionary front behind Klein."
Calga looked at the IOU.
“My Lord, I have no doubt about the authenticity of this IOU.”
"But I need to know under what circumstances it was written."
Calga is not trying to renege on its debt.
At least his attitude wasn't one of reneging on the debt.
But a thousand power armor suits are not a box of explosives, nor a batch of military rations.
Power armor is a core asset for any Astartes Chapter.
When a company commander writes a promise of this caliber, even with the seal of the battle group, Calgar must inquire about the background and context.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be a battle commander, but a quartermaster terrified by the bill.
Lawson shook his head.
"It seems you still have doubts."
Calgarh immediately said, "I suspect Quintus may have exceeded his authority at the time, not the Seal Bearer."
"almost."
Lawson laughed and said, "In that case, let him explain himself."
Before Calga could ask for an explanation, Lawson's consciousness had already sunk into the swarm network.
Since their separation in the Klein system, Quintus has always had several members of Lawson's combat unit stationed around him.
Nominally, it was responsible for communications, logistics, and battlefield evacuation support.
In practice, it also made it convenient for Lawson to know at any time whether the indebted company commander was still alive.
The swarm network quickly locates the location.
Quintus is currently located in a peripheral galaxy.
They have just finished a mopping-up operation against the remnants of the Death Guard and are currently resting and regrouping.
The sky there was a gloomy yellow, and charred plague-infested corpses littered the ground.
Quintus was standing next to a damaged Rhino troop carrier, listening to a technical sergeant report on the losses.
Beside him, a member of the combat ranks suddenly looked up.
"Company Commander Quintus."
"The Lord of the Seal is looking for you."
Quintus was taken aback.
"The Lord of the Seal is looking for me?"
He subconsciously glanced around.
"where?"
The next instant, a dark blue static force field unfolded beneath his feet.
He was dragged into the stasis tunnel.
When I opened my eyes again, I was already standing in the wartime command hall of Saint Harbor on the Vigilant Star.
Before me stood Lawson.
Calga is next to it.
Next to him is Tigurius.
Quintus froze for a moment.
He then immediately stood up straight and bowed to Lawson.
"Greetings, Lord Seal Master."
He then turned to Calgar and gave the Ultra Warrior salute.
"Greetings, Commander of the Battle Group."
He suddenly noticed the data panel in Calga's hand.
In that instant, Klein-IX's memories resurfaced.
The plague wind that breeds filth.
The besieged position.
The Fifth Company, out of ammunition and supplies.
Lawson descended from the sky.
There was also the IOU that I had carved myself back then.
Quintus wasn't wearing a helmet, and his facial expression was priceless.
Lawson turned the data panel toward him.
"Company Commander Quintus, I need you to explain this IOU to Regiment Commander Calga."
Quintus looked at the line "one thousand powered armors" and sighed inwardly.
He knew then that this thing would eventually come back for the Ultra Warriors.
I just didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
What I didn't expect was that I was dragged from another war zone directly to the warband commander by the static force field to explain myself.
This is even more embarrassing than being surrounded by Death Guards.
"Commander, this IOU was indeed written by me."
Quintus organized the language.
"During the Klein-IX campaign, the Fifth Company was besieged by Nurgle forces. The enemy included Death Guards, Plague Walkers, a large number of Contaminated Artillery, and a later confirmed Demon Prince threat."
"Our ammunition is nearly exhausted, our defenses are severely damaged, the wounded cannot retreat, and communications are being disrupted."
"Given the battlefield situation at the time, the Fifth Company was expected to hold out, with all members likely to be killed in action."
He paused for a moment after saying this.
"The Lord of the Seal arrived with his troops, defeated the Nurgle army, recaptured the defensive line, and then thwarted a larger-scale sacrificial plot."
"Without the master who bears the seal, the Fifth Company would not have survived."
Calga did not interrupt.
Quintus continued, "The Seal Bearer's forces committed a significant amount of combat power to the rescue operation and bore the direct losses that should have been borne by our side."
Lawson coughed lightly beside him.
"The losses were quite heavy."
Quintus's eye twitched.
"Therefore, I believe the Ultramarines should be compensated."
"At that time, the Lord in charge proposed using power armor as compensation. As the company commander of the Fifth Company, I wrote a guarantee and promised to convey it to the battle group command."
Calga looked at him.
"You think a thousand power armor suits are in compliance with regulations?"
Quintus looked up and said seriously, "Under the circumstances, it was appropriate."
There was a moment of silence in the Royal Court.
Quintus continued, "The lives of the Fifth Brotherhood, the lives of millions of Imperial civilians on Klein-IX, and the subsequent thwarted star system-level sacrifices are worth far more than a thousand power armors."
“I admit that I personally have no authority to allocate such a large amount of warband assets.”
"But I have an obligation to vouch for the Imperial allies who are rescuing the Fifth Company."
"If the guild leader believes I have overstepped my authority, I am willing to accept punishment."
Lawson looked at Quintus.
That kid is still so straightforward.
When he was blackmailed by himself, he knew that this note would lead to him being hunted down by the quartermaster, but he still wrote it.
Now, standing in front of Calgary, they haven't tried to shift the blame.
Calga watched Quintus for a long time.
Then he raised his hand and patted Quintus's shoulder armor.
"You did the right thing."
Calgar said in a deep voice, "The lives of our chapter brothers are worth more than a thousand power armor suits."
As soon as those words were spoken, the Ultramarines officers in the Command Court straightened their backs.
Calga turned to Lawson and bowed.
"Master of the Seal, thank you again for rescuing the Fifth Company. This IOU is acknowledged by the Extreme Warrior."
Lawson's smile deepened.
Calgar continued, "You don't need to ask the Primarch for a debt."
