The next second, he burst out laughing.
San Gou also laughed, but his laughter was lower than his.
Er Gou patted his knee.
"You don't actually think your invisibility is some kind of genius, do you?"
Ilancia's face darkened.
"What do you mean?"
Er Gou stood up, much taller than her, his shadow looming over her.
"What I mean is, we already knew you when you tried to assassinate the boss that day."
"You discovered it?"
"So clever."
Er Gou grinned.
"If the boss hadn't said he'd let you in, you wouldn't even have been able to touch the door."
Aoqi chimed in from the side.
"She observed us for fifteen minutes."
Er Gou glared at him.
"Shut up. You even stole my cards."
As Ilancia watched the group of human monsters vying for cards in the corridor, the anger of being tricked in her heart only intensified.
She was released there as prey.
Ilancia turned and left.
Er Gou shouted from behind:
"You've gone the wrong way; the front hall is on the left."
She paused, then abruptly turned to the left.
Then Er Gou's loud laughter came from behind.
"These bean sprouts are quite shameless."
In the lobby, Lawson was examining a partial map of a warning planet.
Several red markers flash on the graph, accompanied by brief annotations about the cornerstone sequence.
Lawson heard footsteps but didn't look up.
"woke up?"
Ilancia said coldly, "Your guards are very uncouth."
"They were already very polite by not throwing you against the wall."
Lawson asked, "Dark elves frequent this area. Do you have any way to sense them in advance?"
Ilancia's gaze fell on the hologram.
Near the equator of the warning star.
Old factory area.
Abandoned heat exchange tower.
An underground railway line spanning three lower-level freight hubs.
There are also 192 civilians who have disappeared in the last seven Terran periods.
The missing persons points are very scattered.
On the surface, it resembles a refugee exodus or a registration error during the post-war order restructuring.
But Yilancia's expression changed after just one glance.
Those locations are distributed between the old heat pipelines and shadow shafts, each not far from the main road, yet avoiding the most densely patrolled routes of the foundation sequence.
This is a sampling method commonly used by the Dark Eldar.
They would abduct individuals of different ages, professions, and physical conditions from a region to assess the quality of the local population, their fear response, toxin compatibility, and their potential for further exploitation.
The Comorian madmen never treat people like human beings.
For them, a nesting area is a piece of meat.
Ilancia said coldly, "They've been here."
Lawson looked up.
"Can we find it?"
Ilancia walked up to the hologram, stretched out her finger, and traced it between several missing points.
"The Dark Eldar like to leave false traces, making lower races chase after corpses and blood. The truly useful traces are not in the blood."
She pointed to a pipeline well next to one of the missing points.
"Look at the edge."
Swarm intelligence immediately amplifies the image.
It was an old industrial manhole cover with cut marks on the edges.
The cut is very fine.
Like a black line.
Lawson stared at it for a few seconds.
"The T-series is identified as a single-molecule blade cutter."
Ilancia said, "More than that. The cut isn't straight; the end curls back a little. That's a hook blade. Dark Eldar raiders often use this to leave the frame intact when breaking down a door, making it easy to put it back on when they leave."
She then pointed to the second spot.
“Here. There are no footprints on the ground, but there is a line of dust that has been flattened. Anti-gravity vehicles leave such marks when they hover at low altitudes. Your human instruments tend to classify it as airflow disturbance.”
Lawson looked at her.
"continue."
Ilancia felt a little awkward.
She was a prisoner.
She was forced to assist a human warlord in hunting down the Dark Eldar.
But the matter itself did not make her reject it.
The Eldar of Saim-Han's Ark hate their Comorian kin.
Those who have fallen are, in their eyes, the most disgusting festering sore in the history of the Eldar race. The Ark chose the path, self-discipline, Soulstones, battle, and sacrifice. The Dark Eldar chose torture, plunder, pleasure, and wearing the shame of their kind as a crown on their heads.
Ilancia hates Lawson.
But she hated the Dark Eldar even more.
She continued looking at the pictures.
“The Dark Eldar will try to avoid prolonged exposure to reality. They need a temporary foothold that can hide anti-gravity vehicles, handle prisoners, and be close to a location that can open the Web rift.”
Lawson asked, "How do we find it?"
Ilancia points to the old heat exchange tower complex on the map.
"Air."
Lawson raised an eyebrow.
Ilancia explained, “The air in the Comoros is different from your hive. The armor, vehicles, and poisoned blades of the Dark Eldar often carry a dry, cold stench from the depths of the Web. It’s a mixture of blood and spices that has been folded by psionic energy. You humans can’t smell it, and it’s difficult for ordinary instruments to detect.”
She paused for a moment, then added.
"The Ark Eldar are trained in this kind of identification. Especially Saim-Han, we often hunt Comorian pirates."
Lawson's eyes lit up a little.
"If it's useful, there will be a reward."
Ilancia sneered.
What other reward can you give me?
Lawson reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Just as Ilancia was about to break free, the dark blue light curtain rose from the ground.
Her vision blurred.
The whole world is like being sliced into a thin piece, and then stuffed into a new reality by another hand.
The next moment, she was standing on the edge of an old industrial area near the equator.
The wind carried hot sand and metallic dust.
In the distance lies a cluster of abandoned factories that have been under post-war control and blockade.
A distance of thousands of kilometers was traversed in a single step.
Ilancia's pupils contracted.
The Webpaths rely on entrances, paths, portals, runes, stabilizing layers, and psionic echoes. Even skilled Eldar warriors must respect the paths themselves.
Lawson's approach is more brutal.
It's like ripping off a piece of reality without going through a road, and then pasting it onto another piece of reality.
This is not the elegant passage as understood by the Eldar.
She quickly scanned her surroundings.
The battle formation has been set up on the ground.
Dark gray low-visibility armor was scattered among the ruins.
