It took Adela less than two years to grow from four people to one hundred and eight.
Lawson turned around and walked back behind his desk: "The staffing has been approved. You two will be in direct contact and coordination regarding future equipment upgrades, special training, and logistical support for the inner court."
Katarina obeyed: "Yes, sir!"
Beside her, Adela lowered her eyelids slightly, and from an angle unseen by anyone, a graceful and satisfied smile appeared on her face. Then she heard it.
"Adèle, stay behind!"
P.S.: Sorry, guys. I was planning to do two updates, but I got back too late. Please forgive me!
Chapter 242 The Mad Vashtor, the Orc Servant Project!
The top floor of the Royal Court features a viewing corridor.
Three people who shouldn't be standing together are standing together.
Ash Velos leaned against the window frame, her purple hair falling over her shoulders, her soul collar gleaming dark gold in the twilight.
Sarasien Qianxian sat on the windowsill, one of his round legs swinging casually in mid-air, his narrow purple eyes half-closed, looking just like a cat licking its paws in the sunlight.
Ilancia Moonblade stood between them, her back straight, her hand resting on the windowsill, her gaze fixed on the square below.
In the square, Katarina was leading her newly expanded contingent of nuns as they marched away.
The 108-person team was arranged in four neat columns, and the rhythm of their boots hitting the ground was like a steady drumbeat.
Qianxian leaned up from the windowsill and whispered in Yilanxia's ear.
"Little bean sprouts".
Having spent so much time with the two Slaanesh demons, Ilancia had grown accustomed to Qianxian's behavior; avoiding him would only excite the pervert even more.
"Did you see that? The nuns have formed a group. There are 108 today, maybe 100,000 next year, and 5 million the year after. You know Adela's eye for talent; she was handpicked according to the master's aesthetic. The best young women in the entire empire's dark side, each one is pleasing to the eye, and each one is unique and charming."
Qianxian sighed, her tone filled with admiration.
"We have blondes, we have black hair, we have red hair. We have the cool type, we have the gentle type, we have the heroic type. We have the tall type, we have the petite type. Although there aren't many truly petite battle nuns, Adela even considered that."
She moved a little closer.
"Little bean sprout, what makes you think you can compete with 108 people all by yourself?"
Ilancia's fingers tightened a millimeter on the windowsill.
Qianxian continued, "Adela is building an absolutely perfect emotional ecosystem for her master, with 108 people rotating every day, so there's always something new, and there are always different souls fawning over her. Little Sprout, you are indeed breathtakingly beautiful, but how can you compete with 108 fanatical believers who are on standby 24/7 for novelty?"
Ash watched this scene from the other side without saying a word.
Ilancia's gaze remained fixed on the square.
The nuns' procession had already gone far away, and the last few figures disappeared around the corner of the corridor.
"You guys want to team up with me again?"
“We’re just feeling sorry for you, little sprout.” Qianxian’s smile became even more charming. “You alone can’t compare to 108 nuns, but don’t forget that behind you stands a billion Eldar from Saim-Han.”
Ilancia's brow twitched.
"Moreover, your Saim-Han has an extremely precious specialty: Eldar twin sisters."
Ilancia's expression subtly changed.
Qianxian's smile deepened.
“I’ve heard that Eldar twins have a natural psychic connection, emotional resonance, and shared senses. This trait would make them a perfect pair for piloting Titans.”
She tilted her head: "It would probably be perfect for other applications as well."
Ilancia frowned: "What are you thinking, you pervert?"
"I'm thinking about how to consolidate my position."
Qianxian said in a serious tone: "You are fighting alone, but if you can bring several pairs of twin sisters from Saim-Han, young, beautiful, and with psionic talents, and place them by the master's side, they will be Eldar liaisons or technical advisors on the surface, but in reality, they are your people. In this way, you will not be alone by the master's side, but a team."
"Moreover, Eldar twins are incredibly rare. Battle nuns can be found in the ruins of the Empire's dark side, but where can Eldar twins be found? Only you can provide them, and that's what makes you irreplaceable."
Ilancia's mind was racing; she was thinking about feasibility.
“The clan leaders will not agree.”
“The birth rate of twins in Saim-Han is extremely low. Each pair is a strategic resource for the Ark. They are trained from a young age to become Titan pilots or Prophet candidates. The chieftains will not agree to send them to the adults.”
Ash rolled her eyes.
"Stubborn fool! It's not like the master is going to eat the twins, but to have them serve him. They're with him most of the time, and he can go back whenever he needs to pilot a Titan. It's just one step from Vigilant Planet to Saim-Han Ark. There's no conflict between them serving the master and piloting a Titan."
Ilancia's rebuttal was silenced.
She leaned against the window frame, her gaze piercing through the glass as she looked towards the distant starry sky.
If the Prophet's group from a few years ago could see her today, they would probably think she has been brainwashed.
But Yilancia knew she hadn't been brainwashed.
She made comparisons. Serious, calm comparisons, made using the rationality accumulated by the Elven race over tens of thousands of years.
On one side is the Saim-Han Ark, an ancient civilization slowly declining, and in her view, the Eldar's future is a path that is getting narrower and narrower.
On the other side is Lawson, a rapidly rising human who controls over ten thousand worlds on the dark side of the Empire, with military and administrative efficiency far exceeding the Eldar's imagination.
He has proven himself capable of protecting Saim-Han, and that the Eldar settlers under his rule are safer than those on the Ark.
Moreover, when she is by his side, the whispers of the Warp and the shadows of Slaanesh will naturally fade away.
What the Eldar feared most was suppressed to the point of almost non-existence within Lawson's psionic field.
The interests of the ethnic group and the interests of Lawson are not in conflict at all.
Because the greatest interest of Saim-Han Ark is to cling to Lawson's coattails at all costs, even if it means selling everything they own!
What does it matter if there are several pairs of twins?
If the strategic resources of the Ark could be used to gain more favor and attention from Lawson towards Saim-Han, it would be an incredible blessing for the entire Ark.
She turned around and looked at the two great demons.
"I need to come up with a reason that the clan leaders can accept, and I need to package it as something that is beneficial to the Ark."
Qianxian and Ash exchanged a glance.
They succeeded!
Qianxian quickly suppressed the smugness on her face.
"You decide that yourself."
She jumped down from the windowsill, patted her long dress, and said, "Our suggestion ends here. If we continue, we'll be crossing the line."
Ash also straightened up from the window frame and turned to walk into the corridor.
Qianxian followed her, and after taking a few steps, he turned back to look at Yilanxia.
"Think slowly, little sprout, don't rush, but don't be too slow either... You've seen Adela's efficiency before, today it's 108, tomorrow's number is anyone's guess."
The two demons' soft laughter faded away at the end of the corridor with the tapping of their high heels.
They really didn't dare to say anything more.
While using exotic pets to seduce their owners and compete for their affection may satisfy their wicked nature, things can go too far...
When the master's punitive whip, infused with imperial golden fire, lashes your body, it truly hurts so much that even your soul trembles!
Although that kind of extreme pain is indeed unforgettable...
…………
Deep in subspace.
Vashtor's forging domain floats in the crevice between the Four Gods' territories.
At the heart of the forging industry is an endlessly expanding dark factory.
Gears turned in the void, and conveyor belts carried unfinished demon engines and parts of the Omen Ark.
Countless trapped souls howled within the machines, serving as both energy and lubricant.
Vashtor stood on the main control platform, with two strategic projections, the Dark Side of the Empire and the Holy Side of the Empire, floating in front of him.
The projection on the Imperial Holy Face side is working normally.
Several scattered Omen Ark squads operated in different star systems, collecting more than a dozen low-value key fragments and some secondary components.
The projection on the dark side of the empire was a shocking red.
Vashtor stared at the red for three seconds.
"A bunch of useless trash!"
Vashtor's robotic arm slammed down on the control panel, leaving a handprint on the metal surface.
The data projection skipped a beat, and the list of losses on the dark side of the Empire was refreshed.
Losses of the Ominous Ark: a total of fourteen. Seven of them were boarded and captured by Lawson and modified, four were destroyed or captured on Dragon Spirit Star, and three were sunk in other war zones.
The Demon Prince lost one: Ugalax, who was forced to his knees and decapitated by Lawson's psionic field.
Bellacoo's losses: decapitated, soul intercepted, current status unknown.
Black Huron: Death.
Key Fragments: All the fragments collected by the Empire's Dark Side, including the seven collected by the Alpha Legion and the core component of Arthasmore, have fallen into Lawson's hands. The most crucial fragment within the Stone Monastery has also been confirmed to have been handed over to Lawson.
As Vashtor looked at the list, computing power surged within his cranial cavity.
Then he started cursing again: "That good-for-nothing Huron!"
His robotic arm unfolded, and six alloy arms swung simultaneously, sending several floating data balls flying around the main control panel.
"I gave him the most elite Ominous Ark squadron! I gave him command of the Cataclysmic Fleet! I gave him enough firepower to crush three star sectors! What did he do with it? He chased after a wrecked ship that had been renamed!"
Vashtor's voice grew louder and louder, and the gears of the forging field began to turn faster, as if driven by his anger.
"An old fox who had been fighting pirates for hundreds of years lost his judgment because of a ship's name. He abandoned his formation and coordination, and led my Ark to confront Lawson head-on. Then he died! It's not just that he died, but he also took three of my Ominous Arks with him!"
