Warhammer: Empire Reboot
Page 802
This is the empire the emperor desired.
Guilliman opened his eyes and looked at the mountain of data boards piled up on his desk.
The Zerg are wreaking havoc on the Holy Front, the Necromancers are building walls on the Eastern Front, and chaos will never cease.
If the Dark Side of the Empire truly possesses a highly efficient navigation and communication system. If that system could traverse the Great Rift and connect to the Holy Land…
Guilliman dared not think too much about it.
"Snapped……"
Just as the Imperial Regent was enjoying a rare moment of tranquility, a fine leather boot was placed prominently on his desk.
The boots are a craft of the Elven race.
The soles are made of spirit bone, with stitching lines like silk threads, and the boots are decorated with shallow relief runes.
The toes of his boots were slightly upturned as he stepped onto a stack of data boards that Guilliman hadn't yet reviewed.
The gaze travels upwards along the boots.
Long, slender legs encased in the Eldar's unique tight-fitting combat suit.
He had a uniquely designed Eldar sword hanging at his waist, with the emblem of the God of Death Jena engraved on the scabbard.
Above that is a face that most human men would take a second look at.
Pointed ears, purple eyes, a slightly frivolous smile on her lips, and dark purple hair cut very short, revealing a sharp neck and jawline.
She is dashing and spirited, with a touch of sweetness.
This combination is already rare in human women, but in Eldar, it becomes a kind of temperament that is hard to describe.
She is Evelynn, the messenger of death in Jena, the chosen one of death.
Throughout the entire human empire, only she dared to put her feet on the Regent's desk while he was working.
Guilliman looked up at the boot, then at the crumpled data panel beneath it.
“Everene.” He adopted the authority of the Empire’s Supreme Commander.
"Hmm?" she hummed casually.
"The data panel under your feet contains the battle damage reports of tens of millions of Astragalus soldiers in the 38th Sector. It is very important."
“Oh.” Evelyn didn’t move away; instead, she shifted her ankle to a more comfortable angle. “Then let it rest a little longer. I think you’re about to become one with this pile of junk.”
Guilliman's lips twitched.
In the years he'd spent with Evelynn, he'd learned one thing: trying to explain Imperial etiquette, hierarchy, and rules of conduct to this woman was like trying to explain the Code of Astartes to a wall—the wall wouldn't listen, and you'd just be wasting your time.
Evelynn's resume is extremely outrageous even among Eldar.
She was born on the Ark of Beetle.
Bietan is the most warlike of all the Eldar Arks, and the entire society is filled with fervor for restoring the Eldar Empire. In this environment, Evelynn was an all-around genius from a young age.
She walked the path of a dancer, becoming an outstanding phantom warrior, then switched to the path of a sorcerer, mastering psionic combat skills, and then climbed all the way to the position of a divine warrior, which in Eldar society means being proficient in strategic command and multiple combat paths at the very top of the pyramid.
According to the normal script, she should continue to rise in Biethan, becoming the leader of a temple or a core member of the Ark Council, and eventually spend her long life as the most revered hero of the Eldar.
But she found it boring.
The Puritan life on the Ark, with its strict suppression of emotions and adherence to spiritual precepts, suffocated her.
Evelyn left Bieton.
There was no farewell ceremony, no consultation with the clan chief, they just ran away!
He went and became a pirate of the Eldar.
Eldar pirates in the Starsea are quite different from human pirates.
They piloted nimble and fast starships to raid shipping lanes, targeting human merchant ships, orc transport ships, and even the occasional undead patrol.
Evelyn quickly distinguished herself among the pirates thanks to the all-around combat skills she honed at Bietan.
She became the female leader of a pirate fleet.
After getting tired of being a pirate, she went to an even crazier place.
Comoros, the stronghold of the Dark Eldar.
The most dangerous city in the galaxy, a colossal nightmare built deep within the Web, inhabited by the dark Eldar who sustain their lives by torturing others.
Evelynn became a gladiator in the Comoros arena.
Your opponents could be slaves, monsters, other dark Eldar gladiators, or even occasionally a demon thrown in.
Evelynn made a name for herself in the arena.
In the Comoros stands, some people bet on her to win, while others bet on her to die.
She won many matches.
Until she lost a match and died in the arena.
Logically, the story should end here, but Jena, the god of death, doesn't see it that way.
Jena, the Eldar god of death, has been sleeping, waiting for enough Eldar souls to gather to awaken her.
At the moment Evelynn died in the arena, Jena chose her as his representative in the mortal world.
She was resurrected and became the leader of the army of the dead, Jena's messenger.
She later returned to Beeton, attempting to awaken the fragments of the Grim Reaper's avatar sealed within the core of the Ark.
The massive subspace energy released during the ritual went out of control, directly causing the Bone Soul Realm of the Bietan Ark to shatter.
The spiritual race's accumulated soul reserves, built up over thousands of years, were torn open in an instant.
The Shattered Isles of Beetle!
One of the most devastating disasters in the history of the Eldar.
The instigator, or at least the indirect cause, was Evelyn herself.
She indirectly blew up her own hometown.
So the person sitting across from Guilliman at the table was neither an Eldar princess nor a diplomatic envoy.
He was a ruthless character who had been an all-around general, a pirate captain, slaughtered countless people in the Dark Eldar's Hell Arena, died once and came back to life, and finally blew up his home.
After Guilliman woke up, he felt extremely lonely for a long time.
He was the regent, and no one dared to treat him like an ordinary person.
Evelyn is the only exception.
She called him "human" or by his name, and she teased him about his work habits, his taste in clothing, and the way he frowned when handling government affairs in the arrogant tone characteristic of the Eldar.
Although Evelynn was a key figure in Guilliman's resurrection by the Eldar.
Without her and Jena's power, Guilliman would still be lying in the psychic's crystal coffin as a specimen.
But what truly made Guilliman take off his mask in front of her was her true self.
In her eyes, the Primarch was a powerful, occasionally somewhat rigid human.
The two were attracted to each other...
“What documents did you see this time?” Evelyn stared at his face. “You’re frowning like an old man.”
“I’m an old man,” Guilliman said. “Could you please take your foot off first? This isn’t appropriate.”
Evelyn raised an eyebrow and put her other foot on top as well.
Two exquisite boots stood side by side, dominating the central area of the Regent's desk.
"No, tell me now, what news is there?"
Guilliman looked at her self-righteous demeanor.
Then he handed over the data panel containing information about the dark side of the Empire.
Evelyn took it, her boots still on, and leaned forward slightly to begin reading.
She reads very quickly.
Evelyn put down the data panel, her interest in her eyes undiminished.
"An interesting little fellow has emerged from the dark side of the Empire."
She flipped through the contents of the data panel and pointed to a certain section with her fingertip.
"However, this information is pieced together, with several layers of intermediaries. Are you sure it's not a story made up? I would find such a feat exaggerated even if it were on your empire's propaganda posters."
Guilliman pulled another data panel from the table and handed it over.
“This is Dante’s own report; it cannot be fake.”
Evelyn took it and glanced at it.
After she finished reading, she threw the data board back on the table and stacked it next to her boots.
"Okay, it's true. The Dark Side of the Empire is now more like an Empire than the Holy Side."
Guilliman did not refute this statement.
He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his temples.
"There's something I don't understand. Lawson isn't the Primarch. He has to handle more administrative tasks every day than I do, with dozens of fronts running simultaneously, military production, population resettlement, and diplomatic coordination. How does he manage to stay from going crazy?"
Evelyn almost burst out laughing at his genuinely confused expression.
The Imperial Regent, one of the most powerful humans in the galaxy, is genuinely envious of another's work efficiency.
“Maybe he has something you don’t,” Evelyn said.
"for example?"
"For example, there is no courtroom."
Evelyn retracted her long legs, leaped lightly from the chair, and circled behind Guilliman.
Cool fingers pressed precisely on the original body's tense shoulder and neck muscles, with just the right amount of pressure.
Guilliman closed his eyes slightly.
