In name only: I will break the chess game in Handong

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, so Meng Shuhai simply picked up the red phone on the table.

"Hello, this is Meng Shuhai. Have Comrade Hou Liangping from the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection call me back!"

"What? Not here? Where is Hou Liangping? You don't know either?"

Meng Shuhai's anger came to an abrupt end just like that, and the person couldn't be found. It was truly outrageous!

Slowly putting down the phone, Meng Shuhai grew angrier the more he thought about it, especially since he didn't have Hou Liangping's private phone number.

Ultimately, this problem could only be resolved by the secretary.

Just as Meng Shuhai was getting angry, Hou Liangping led staff from the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection to raid the home of Pang Bo, the retired former director of the Land and Resources Bureau.

The address was provided by Wang Yunxiong...

Looking at the three-story villa in front of him, Hou Liangping's lips twitched slightly.

"This old guy is really enjoying himself. He spends the money he embezzled so brazenly, without even trying to hide it from people!"

Taking a deep breath, Hou Liangping knocked on the courtyard gate.

A minute later, the gate was opened, and a middle-aged woman in a cleaning uniform opened it. It was obvious that she was probably a live-in nanny or something similar.

Who are you looking for?

The other party was quite polite, while Hou Liangping took out his identification from his pocket.

"Hello, we are from the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection. Is this Comrade Pang Bo's home?"

"Huh? No...no..."

Upon hearing that it was the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, the other party became visibly flustered and even began to deny it.

Hou Liangping was no fool in this regard.

With a wave of his hand, the accompanying discipline inspection staff forcefully squeezed in.

Upon entering the courtyard, a pavilion stands in the center, surrounded by artificial hills and a pond.

Inside the pavilion, an elderly man in his sixties was leisurely listening to music on a grand chair.

Every now and then, I would pick up a few fish food pellets from the table and throw them into the pond. When I looked at the pond again, all the fish floating up were koi!

The old man was still resting with his eyes closed, while Hou Liangping slowly approached him, only confirming that the other person was Pang Bo when he got close.

"Pang Bo, is that right?"

Hou Liangping broke the silence by speaking directly. Upon hearing the stranger's voice, Pang Bo slowly opened his eyes, looked at Hou Liangping, and asked with a puzzled expression.

"Who are you? What do you want! Do you know where you are? How dare you barge in?"

Hou Liangping remained silent, but quietly took out his identification and handed it to Pang Bo.

"My name is Hou Liangping, and I am currently the Deputy Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection!"

Your good days are over. Come with us!

After he finished speaking, the staff member next to Hou Liangping directly presented a summons, while Pang Bo stared wide-eyed, looking incredulous.

It wasn't until he clearly saw the summons that Pang Bo snapped out of his daze.

"Secretary Hou, I've been retired for several years now, why does your Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection still need to summon me!"

He said this with absolute certainty.

Hou Liangping simply shook his head calmly and said, "Do you think that retiring will solve everything? That it will erase all the mistakes you've made?"

Retirement is not your shield. I'm warning you again: cooperate with our provincial discipline inspection commission's summons immediately, or don't blame us for taking coercive measures!

Hou Liangping's words made the other person's expression turn serious.

Forcing it won't work...

He simply let out a cry of pain, curled up in the armchair, and wailed, "Do you have any conscience at all? You're bullying a retired old man like me... Do you know I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar? You're scaring me like this. If something happens, who will be responsible? I'm going to sue you!"

In Hou Liangping's eyes, such a tantrum was quite degrading. He was so decisive when he was corrupt, but when the Discipline Inspection Commission came knocking, he threw a tantrum like this. It was simply shameful!

"Stop wasting time talking to him, just take him and the chair with you!"

Hou Liangping gave the order, and four discipline inspection staff members immediately stepped forward, grabbed the chair, and lifted it up with a sudden burst of strength.

Just as Hou Liangping was about to leave, his cell phone rang urgently in his pocket.

He frowned slightly, took out his phone and saw it was an unfamiliar number. After thinking for a moment, he answered the call anyway.

"Hey……"

"Comrade Hou Liangping, this is Meng Shuhai!"

Upon hearing this, Hou Liangping paused for a moment, noticing that the other person's tone was somewhat off.

"Good afternoon, Secretary Meng. Is there something you need to talk to me about?"

"Comrade Hou Liangping, don't play dumb with me!"

You know perfectly well what your municipal discipline inspection commission did this morning; they arrested the bureau chief in the city without a word.

"They didn't even consult me, the Party Secretary of the Municipal Committee! What are you trying to do!"

Upon hearing this, Hou Liangping remained unusually calm.

"Secretary Meng, are you coming here to interrogate me?"

"I just want an explanation!"

"Then let me explain to Secretary Meng that Wang Yunxiong is a provincial-level cadre. It was the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection that investigated and took him away, not our Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection. Secretary Meng, please don't just label people randomly."

Secondly, whether or not I've spoken with Secretary Meng is a matter of concern to Secretary Jia. You don't need to be angry with me; I'm just following Secretary Jia's instructions!

"Hou Liangping, what do you mean! If Comrade Jia Renli can give you instructions, why can't I?"

Don't forget, you're still the Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Guangzhou!

"Secretary Meng, please don't get agitated!"

Am I excited?!

Isn't that obvious?

Are you calling to demand an explanation, or to find out what's going on?

If this is an attempt to interrogate me, then I cannot understand; I was merely following the instructions of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection.

If you want to know the situation.

Then I can clearly report to you that Comrade Wang Yunxiong is suspected of embezzlement and bribery, and the amount involved is huge!

The evidence has been largely secured, and the specific details of the case are under further investigation.

"Very good! You, Hou Liangping, are truly capable!"

"Secretary Meng, you don't need to praise me. That's just how we discipline inspection staff are. We're not afraid of offending people. Within the scope of our supervisory work, we will definitely supervise cadres in accordance with the law!"

Chapter 429 A Battle of Gods, the Tall One Appears

"Let alone Wang Yunxiong, even Secretary Meng, I will fulfill my responsibility of supervision at the same level within the scope of my work."

These words made Meng Shuhai laugh in anger.

"Hou Liangping, you're truly outstanding!"

"Secretary Meng, you don't need to praise me a second time..."

These words immediately broke Meng Shuhai's defenses. Just as he was about to hang up the phone, he heard a familiar voice.

"Is this Secretary Meng? This is Pang Bo! Secretary Meng, please do something about this Hou Liangping, he's a complete scoundrel!"

I've been retired for several years now, and their disciplinary committee is still determined to hold me accountable and take me in for investigation and interrogation!

Meng Shuhai was furious when he heard this.

"Hou Liangping! Comrade Pang Bo has been retired for several years now. What exactly is your Discipline Inspection Commission trying to do?!"

"Secretary Meng, retirement is not a shield. Comrade Pang Bo is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law. We hope that Secretary Meng will not interfere with our Discipline Inspection Commission's investigation!"

"you you you!"

"If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now, Secretary Meng!"

Hou Liangping didn't want to listen to the other party continue nagging. If the sky were to fall, someone else would hold it up; he just needed to do his job.

Meanwhile, at the municipal party committee, an enraged Meng Shuhai couldn't help but call Jia Renli.

He couldn't sleep until he vented his anger!

The call was quickly connected.

"Hey, Comrade Shuhai, what's up?"

Jia Renli offered this indifferent greeting, while Meng Shuhai's tone was somewhat sarcastic.

"I dare not let anything happen to me, Secretary Jia. Your Discipline Inspection Commission is really powerful now. You took away a deputy director-level bureau chief from my city without making a sound for investigation. Are you planning to take me, the municipal party secretary, away in the future?"

Hearing this, Jia Renli frowned slightly.

"Comrade Shuhai, this matter came rather suddenly, which is why I didn't call you to let you know right away."

Meng Shuhai was not buying Jia Renli's explanation at all.

"Secretary Jia, you can say that and that's fine, but what do you mean by 'quite sudden'? Doesn't it just mean you think I, Meng Shuhai, am easy to bully?"

"Comrade Shuhai, I have already shown you a lot of respect!"

Please stop being so sarcastic!

"Comrade Jia Renli, if your Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection truly respects me, you should have notified me in advance!"

"Comrade Shuhai, there is no such thing as 'must'! Wang Yunxiong is a provincial-level cadre. Before conducting the investigation and detention, I had already reported to Secretary Aimin and sought his opinion."

If Comrade Shuhai feels that our Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection does not respect you or your Municipal Party Committee, then you can report the situation to Secretary Aimin instead of calling me to interrogate me!

Anyone who didn't know better would think that you, Meng Shuhai, were trying to protect the other party and act as a shield for corrupt officials!

"You! You and Hou Liangping are birds of a feather!"

"Say what you want, think what you want, if there's nothing else, I'm hanging up!"
