Two hours later, only Summit remained in the research room. Lloyd and Cecil had gone out for lunch. This scene reminded Summit of himself six years ago. Although he hadn't regained his memories back then, he lived a fulfilling life, unlike now, when he was filled with confusion about life.
After pressing the Enter key firmly to save the data, Summit stretched comfortably, wiggled his fingers slightly, and prepared to leave the lab. Just then, a warm object silently pressed against Summit's face, startling him. When he turned around, Cecil was smiling at him, holding a can of beverage and a food container. It seemed the warm object was the can of beverage in her hand.
"Here you go, this is your favorite hot coffee, braised pork, and rice balls." Cecil smiled as he handed the two items to Summit, who looked surprised.
“You still remember, Miss Cecil?” Summit said with a smile as he took the two items and looked at Cecil.
“Of course, I’ll never forget my stubborn, silly little brother from before,” Cecil said with a smile, flicking Summit’s forehead with his finger.
Summit immediately put on an angry expression, touching his forehead and saying, "Lieutenant Cecil, my rank is Lieutenant General! This is disrespectful to your superior!" He then burst into laughter with Cecil, the scene mirroring exactly how he himself had shouted at Cecil, who was only a warrant officer, six years ago: "Warrant Officer Cecil, my rank is Second Lieutenant, one rank higher than you! This is disrespectful to your superior!"
Cecil clenched his fist and put it to his lips, smiling subtly as he sighed, "Hehe... It's been a long time since I've chatted with Summit like this. Summit was so much cuter back then!"
“Cute? Me? Hehe… Actually, I didn’t worry about this for a long time. Because of this, when I was little, I was always popular with women who were much older than me. So, back then, what I hated most were women with good figures.” Hearing Cecil say this, Summit pointed to the tip of his nose and laughed.
“I hate people with good figures… I see. No wonder you always ignored me before, and even more so with Miss Lacusata.” Cecil looked at Samit with surprise and said with a smile.
"No way, I really liked Miss Cecil six years ago. Otherwise, why would I have accepted those burnt braised pork and weird-tasting rice balls you sent?" Summit said with a smile, opening the food box in his hand and shaking his right hand holding chopsticks.
"Hehe... I'm sorry, I really couldn't cook Chinese food back then. I even looked up the recipe for braised pork on the computer." Cecil hurriedly apologized when she heard Summit complain about how bad her cooking was. As she spoke, she seemed to remember something, and her background immediately turned completely black. She looked at Summit and asked with a smile, "Summit, what do you mean by saying you like me from six years ago?"
"Nothing much? I just felt that Miss Cecil back then was completely unlike a girl. Hmm... her cooking skills have improved a lot!" Summit seemed oblivious to Cecil's dark side, took a bite of braised pork, savored it carefully, and commented casually.
Seeing Summit like this, Cecil had three or four 'crosses' appear above his head, and he turned completely black, with black gas emanating from his body.
"What's wrong, Miss Cecil?" Summit, perhaps finally noticing Cecil's unusual behavior, bit her chopsticks and looked at Cecil with a puzzled expression.
"Die." Cecil uttered through gritted teeth, looking at Summit's smug expression. With that, he lunged at Summit, who was carrying the food box.
After finishing lunch, Lloyd hummed a tune as he walked towards the research lab. He knew that, given Summit's speed, the complete data on the ninth-generation KnightMare energy wings should already be fully entered into the computer. After opening the lab door with his ID card, Lloyd entered and asked, "Summit, work finished..." He paused, then quickly added with a forced smile, "Sorry to bother you, please continue." He then left the lab.
Summit was lying on the ground, clutching his chest as if protecting his most precious possession (actually, it was a food box with its lid on). His eyes were filled with resentment, while Cecil was on top of Summit, his hands inside his clothes. By all accounts, they looked like the 'top and bottom' pair. Unfortunately, neither of them seemed to realize that they had been misunderstood and continued their argument.
"Give me the food box, I'm not giving you any more. You actually called me flat-chested, I think you've gotten quite bold."
"No, I've already eaten half of it. Besides, I only said it was six years ago, not now."
"Stop talking nonsense. I compared my chest size with my chest size during my physical exam last month. My current chest size is only 10cm larger than it was six years ago. There's not much difference at all."
"No way, it seems smaller than before, how could it be 10cm bigger? Oops... I let it slip."
"Die."
Chapter 363 School Festival Declaration (1)
"Bang! Bang!!" The celebratory cannon salutes echoed across the sky above Ashford Academy. Throughout the academy, promotional signs and booths for various events were everywhere. Inside the student council room, Millie, wearing headphones, cheerfully spoke into the microphone: "Sorry everyone has been waiting. Now... the largest school festival in the Tokyo Concession, Ashford Academy, officially begins! The starting signal is this sound."
"Um... is it really okay?" As soon as Mirei finished speaking, Nanali, sitting in her wheelchair, asked timidly.
“Of course!” Millie nodded with a smile, speaking in an encouraging tone.
"Then...meow..." With Nanali's cute meow, countless fireworks exploded in the air at the same time, resounding throughout Ashford Academy, signifying the official start of the Academy Festival. All the students cheered happily upon hearing this sound.
Inside Summit's room, CC, who had been awakened by the loud cannon salute, sat up sleepily and mumbled, "It's so noisy today!"
Meanwhile, at the Governor's Mansion's airport, a dozen transport planes slowly landed. Cornelia, who had just returned from Kyushu, looked at the direct troops that had just arrived from the AREA-18 war zone, as well as the regular army that Schneizel had transferred, and a smile appeared on her face. Now they could wipe out all the terrorists in Area 11 in one fell swoop.
"They actually managed to get here from AREA-18 in just one night. The Cornelia Army is truly outstanding!" Schneizel praised with a smile as he watched the Cornelia troops quickly line up in formation.
"You flatter me. It's because my brother has transferred his regular army here," Cornelia replied humbly.
“That’s only natural,” Schneizel said calmly, glancing at the regular army under Cornelia’s command.
“Now it has joined the 'Gloucester' forces on standby in our own country, so our army has returned to its original posture, and Gloucester has also been equipped with new equipment,” Cornelia said with a confident tone.
"I understand. Let me use this card in the next negotiation with the Chinese Federation!" Schneizel looked at the Gloucester troops in their new form and said with a confident expression, thinking about the next negotiation with the Chinese Federation.
“Please.” Cornelia said, glancing at the troops behind her.
After Cornelia finished speaking, Schneizel simply smiled faintly, glanced at Summit standing behind Cornelia, turned around and boarded the plane bound for the Chinese Federation, leaving his vehicle, the Avalon, with Lloyd. After Schneizel left, Cornelia couldn't help but sigh. She had barely had any rest in the past few days, and the fact that she had just returned from Kyushu and then encountered Schneizel's departure for the Chinese Federation had left her feeling somewhat exhausted.
"Summit, where's Euphemia?" On the way back to the Governor's Mansion, Cornelia, sitting in the car, looked at Summit sitting opposite her and opened her mouth to ask. Since returning from Kyushu, apart from a polite military salute and greeting at the airport, she hadn't said a formal word to him.
Summit looked at Cornelia who was asking the question and couldn't help but think of his complicated relationship with her. He paused for a moment before answering, "Euphie went out alone because she had some things to take care of. Don't worry, General Dalton has sent two officers with her."
"What? Euphemia went out? Sammit, why didn't you stop her?" Cornelia was very concerned about Euphemia's safety and immediately questioned her loudly.
“Sister, Euphemia has grown up. It’s time to give her some space of her own. Besides, the place she goes is absolutely safe.” Since there were no outsiders present, Summit changed how she addressed Cornelia.
Upon hearing Summit address her as "Royal Sister," Cornelia said no more, only grumbling in a low voice with a hint of jealousy, "Summit, ever since we were little, you've always spoiled Euphemia."
Summit felt a sour smell emanating from him and could only smile helplessly. Suddenly, he had an idea and said to Cornelia, "Sister, I want to go somewhere alone with you, but I'd like you to change into some more common clothes."
“Ah…” Cornelia was taken aback when she heard Samite say that, and for a moment she didn’t know how to respond.
Inside Ashford Academy, all the students were immersed in the joyous atmosphere of the academy festival. Many outsiders were also on campus, enjoying the food, games, and performances prepared by the students for very little money. Among them were many of the discriminated-against Elevens. Unnoticed by anyone, Euphemia, wearing a khaki short dress with a red and white coat, a pink sun hat provided by Summit, and pink sunglasses that covered half her face, strolled slowly through the crowd, enjoying this rare moment of leisure. Euphemia was very happy. Yesterday, she had received permission from Summit and Dalton to come to Ashford Academy disguised, protected by two bodyguards. The bodyguards were elites selected by Dalton from the army. The man was tall and imposing, with a cool expression and sunglasses, wearing a gray coat and black trousers. The woman was beautiful and curvaceous, with short blonde hair that gave her a heroic air; she wore a red T-shirt, a khaki coat, and gray leggings.
"Ah..." Lost in thought, Yuffie bumped into a pedestrian without realizing it and cried out. Upon hearing her cry, the two people behind her immediately reached into their coats and watched the pedestrian in front of Yuffie warily.
A young woman, around thirty years old and dressed as a nurse, was standing in front of Yuffie, pushing a wheelchair. In the wheelchair sat a girl with her eyes closed. It seemed that the girl had problems with both eyes and legs.
"I'm sorry, are you alright?" Yuffie quickly apologized, knowing that she had been distracted.
“No, it’s me who is…” Nanali hurriedly said, feeling that she was the one who had caused the inconvenience.
"Ah...Nanali!" Euphemia exclaimed in surprise as she finally saw the girl's face.
"Could that voice be...?" Since losing her sight, Nanali's hearing was far beyond that of ordinary people. She had heard Yuffie's voice several times on TV and made a somewhat skeptical guess.
Having handed over all her work to Lelouch, and with the giant pizza only starting to be made in the afternoon, Mirei had some free time. She sat down on the bench next to Lelouch and complained, "Ugh, this is so boring! Um... Lelouch, do you know where Summit went?"
"President, is this what someone who delegates all the work to others should say? My brother said he would come, but something came up and he was delayed." Lelouch said to the complaining Millie after hanging up his phone.
"Really? I was actually thinking of doing another 'Knights of the Round Table Capture Project'." Millie said with a hint of disappointment when she heard Lelouch say that.
"President, you should give up on this plan! Otherwise, even if he is your fiancé, I can't guarantee he won't be angry. Wasn't the lesson learned last time enough?" A cross immediately appeared above Lelouch's head as he advised Mireille.
"You mean Samit and Kallen's matter? Don't worry, I've never taken it to heart, really." Hearing Lelouch say this, Millie paused for a moment, then smiled and said.
"Sigh... I'm really worried. If the president keeps doing this, I'm afraid there will be... Oh dear." Lelouch looked at the forced smile. Mirei sighed softly, preparing to persuade her, but was interrupted by a flying hammer.
Just as Lelouch was rubbing his head, which wasn't hurting too much, Cecil, dressed in military uniform, ran over, picked up the hammer that had fallen to the ground, and said to Lelouch, "Sorry, the handle is broken."
"Even soldiers are here, how peaceful!" Lelouch thought to himself, looking at Cecil in her military uniform. He vaguely remembered seeing this woman before.
"Huh? Summit..." Cecil, seeing Lelouch for the first time, exclaimed in surprise upon recognizing Lelouch's face. Then, as if remembering something, he quickly covered his mouth.
"Who are you? Do you know Summit?" Mireille, who had been laughing at Lelouch's misfortune, immediately asked with a smile after hearing Cecil mention Summit's name, glancing at Cecil's military uniform.
“Yes, I’m Summit’s colleague, my name is Cecil. And you are?” Cecil smiled as he looked at Mirei, who had asked the question, and then carefully glanced at Lelouch.
“Mirey, the student council president of Ashford,” Mirey said with a smile.
"Oh my... you're the troublesome fiancé that Summit mentioned."
"Did Summit mention me to you?" Millie asked hastily, a smile appearing on her face as she heard Cecil's words.
“Yes, we talked about it a long time ago.” Cecil immediately recalled Summit’s headache-ridden look when Millie was mentioned and said with a smile.
“Well…” Milly immediately asked, but halfway through her sentence, she glanced at Lelouch beside her and the noisy crowd around her, then said to Cecil, “It’s not convenient to talk here, let’s go somewhere else!” Ignoring Cecil’s objections, she pulled her towards the quieter student council office. Fortunately, Summit had mentioned Milly’s personality to Cecil, otherwise Cecil really wouldn’t have gone with her.
Just as Lelouch was about to stop Mireille, a familiar voice reached his ears: "Hey, where can I get that so-called world's best pizza?" Turning around, he saw C.C. wearing an Ashford Academy uniform that she had somehow found, and walking towards him.
"What? So you're here?" C.C. said unhappily after seeing Lelouch's face.
Lelouch quickly glanced around, and seeing that no one was paying attention, he hurriedly grabbed C.C. and ran towards a deserted spot. He muttered, "C.C., my dear sister-in-law, can't you please not cause me trouble at a time like this?"
At this moment, at the school gate, Summit and Cornelia, dressed in casual clothes, were walking slowly into the school. Cornelia was wearing an ordinary white work uniform and purple sunglasses. Her slightly wavy purple hair was tied up behind her head, making her look like an ordinary office worker.
Chapter 364 School Festival Declaration (2)
"How is it, Your Highness? Does it feel like a commoner?" Wearing sunglasses, Summit bought two ice creams drizzled with blueberry sauce from a student stall, then smiled and handed one to Cornelia, who was dressed in disguise, before asking meaningfully.
"It's so peaceful. We don't have to worry about war," Cornelia sighed softly.
"If my sister and I were both commoners, I wonder what we would be doing now?" Seeing Cornelia's wistful expression, Samit smiled and used his finger to pick off the jam from Cornelia's lips, then lightly licked the jam off his finger and said with a smile.
Seeing Summit's highly provocative gesture, Cornelia blushed and said wistfully, "Who knows?"
"Royal sister, come with me. There are a few people I must introduce to you." Seeing Cornelia's appearance, Summit smiled slightly, thinking that his sudden idea was not a bad one. With that thought, he immediately pulled Cornelia and walked towards the direction where Lelouch lived.
"What? Who is it?" Cornelia asked, somewhat puzzled, looking at Summit's uninterested expression.
"You'll see when you get there," Summit said, seemingly wanting to surprise Cornelia by deliberately not answering.
Even Cornelia was panting heavily after running straight ahead. It wasn't that she couldn't run, but she wasn't used to the professional skirt she was wearing. Overall, it was just too cumbersome, a completely different feeling from her usual military uniform. The skirt was the kind that was wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, making a runner's distance only take two steps in this skirt. Samit, seeing Cornelia panting, gave her an apologetic smile and pointed to the apartment in front of them, saying, "Royal sister, this is the accommodation that Duke Ashford arranged for me."
"Is this the place?" Cornelia looked at the separate apartment in front of her. It looked quite nice from the outside, and she nodded and asked.
“Yes, because of my special status, I live in a place like this. Since the apartment is so spacious, I'm not the only one living here.” Summit smiled and nodded, then pushed open the door and led Cornelia upstairs.
The moment Summit pushed open the door to the second-floor living room, Yuffie, Nunnally, and Saki, who were chatting in the living room, immediately turned their attention to him.
"Brother Summit, Your Majesty..." Upon seeing Summit, Euphemia couldn't help but call out. Then, when she saw Cornelia dressed in a different outfit, she was stunned for a moment. Just as she was about to call out, Summit made a shushing gesture to stop her.
"Brother, is that you?" Sitting in her wheelchair, Nunnally, though she couldn't see the list, heard everything Euphemia said, and asked.
"I'm back, Nunnally." Hearing Nunnally call his name, Samit's eyes immediately softened. He smiled and walked up to Nunnally, nodded to Saki, then knelt down and took Nunnally's soft, boneless hand in his hand, whispering softly.
“That’s great! Nanali was so worried about her brother. Hmm? Brother, do we have guests today? It smells so good.” Nanali said with a smile, sniffing the air as she spoke, and asked in confusion.
After Nanali finished speaking, Summit almost fell to the floor. He marveled inwardly at Nanali's nose, which was comparable to that of a 'hound,' and said with a smile, "Yes, we have a guest." He then waved to Cornelia behind him.
Looking at the blind Nunnally sitting in her wheelchair, Cornelia began to understand why Summit had spent all her time at the school except when necessary. She slowly walked up to Nunnally, bent down, took Nunnally's small hand, and whispered, "It's been a long time, Nunnally."
“That voice… Cornelia, that’s the voice.” After losing her sight, Nanali’s hearing became exceptionally sharp, and she immediately guessed who it was.
"Um... I'm sorry, Nunnally, I haven't come to see you. You and Lelouch must have suffered a lot!" Cornelia was very happy to hear Nunnally call her name, and then said in a guilty tone.
“No, that’s not true. Lelouch and I are doing very well now,” Nunnally immediately shook her head and said.
“Lelouch…where is Lelouch?” Cornelia suddenly remembered Lelouch, who looked almost exactly like Summit, and asked, scanning every corner of the room.
“Big sister, don’t bother looking anymore. Lelouch should be helping out at the student council right now; he’s the vice president, you know,” Samit said with a smile when he saw Cornelia’s expression. Then, turning to Euphemia, he said, “Euphoria, you haven’t seen Lelouch yet, have you? I’ll take you to him in a bit.”
"Really? That's wonderful!" Euphemia exclaimed happily upon hearing Summit's words. Then, as if remembering something, her expression suddenly changed before returning to normal.
Saki, standing to the side, was stunned by the lineup before her. Leaving aside Samite, a Knight of the Round Table, since she was hired by the Ashford family to secretly protect Lelouch and Nunnally, it would be strange if the two had no connection to the Ashford family. If Nunnally and Princess Euphemia addressed each other as sisters, it was because Euphemia was merely a figurehead governor with little princess-like demeanor. But what did it mean that Cornelia and Nunnally also addressed each other as sisters? It could only mean that Nunnally was royalty, and a princess at that. By extension, Lelouch and Samite were princes. According to official British sources, only one member of the royal family was on good terms with the Ashford family: Princess Marian, who was assassinated seven years ago. "My God, I'm so close to several princes and princesses!" Saki exclaimed inwardly.
Just as Saki was lost in thought, Summit's voice reached her ears: "Miss Saki, leave Nunnally to me for now, you can go and attend to other things!"
"Yes, Lord Summit, then I shall take my leave." Sakiyoko said respectfully immediately, and then turned and left.
