“Prince, are you talking to me?” Theodore said casually. “When did you entrust Draco to me?”
Praris cursed himself inwardly.
Theodore is on good terms with Draco, but he's not Draco's sidekick and never cares where Draco goes.
But this at least shows that Draco was not in the common room or in their dormitory.
Praris walked to the other side of the hall and waited alone for Draco to return.
Theodore blinked, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"Oh, Draco!"
"Brother, looks like you're in trouble!"
Therefore, when Draco returned to the Slytherin common room, he saw two people sitting at opposite ends of the hall.
Praris looked at him with a somber expression, while Theodore wore a look of sympathy.
Draco had a bad feeling.
"Let's talk."
Prareas walked over to Draco, pulled him up by the sleeve of his shirt, and led him outside.
Prareas led him out of the underground, through the hall, and out of Hogwarts Castle—she led him into the snow.
"Enough!" Draco said to Praris. "Where do you want to take me?"
Praris finally stopped. The two of them stood in the snow, surrounded by a vast expanse of white, with no one else around.
In such a place, Praris and Draco could spot anyone who dared to approach them.
Praris raised her chin, the wind blowing her disheveled hair around her temples.
She said to Draco, "Draco, do you remember this place?"
“I don’t understand what you mean, Praris,” Draco said lazily, trying to keep his voice steady. “This is the lawn outside the castle—it’s just that there’s no grass now.”
That's complete nonsense.
Praris nodded: "I can't expect others to have the same memory as me... More than two years ago, you were here asking me if I needed a dance partner."
Was it two years ago?
This matter seems to be a very, very distant thing for Draco.
Draco almost thought he and she had been together for a very, very long time, so long that he had almost forgotten how they got together.
Of course, he hadn't actually forgotten.
Draco could still remember the anger he felt when he saw Praris compliment Durmstrang's physique.
At that time, Draco was just an ordinary classmate of Praris, but he was very unhappy, as if someone had stolen his ball on the Quidditch pitch.
Therefore, he mustered up the courage to invite Praris to be his dance partner, and luckily succeeded.
That summer, he inexplicably started exercising at home.
“That’s good, Draco,” Narcissa said with satisfaction. “Boys should exercise; it’s good for your health.”
A mother will always feel that her son is too thin and not healthy enough.
Lucius, however, had a different opinion: "Know your limits, Draco. We don't need to be as muscular as some of these guys."
Thinking of his father suffering in Azkaban, he felt as if something was stuck in his throat.
Bringing his thoughts back to the present, Draco gave a muffled "hmm" and said, "That's how it is."
Praris opened his arms to show him: "Now, there's nothing here. Do you have anything to tell me?"
“What could I possibly have to tell you?” Draco asked almost without hesitation. “What don’t you know about me?”
Draco said this as if he were ripping his heart out of his chest and presenting it to Praris.
Prareston stopped, her arm slowly lowering towards Draco.
She said softly, "That was true last year, wasn't it? But it might not be the case this year."
Draco stared intently at Praris, seemingly not understanding what Praris was saying, yet also as if he knew what Praris meant.
“I’m very worried,” Praris said slowly. “Won’t you talk to me about your father? About what the Dark Lord is asking you to do…about Katie Bell?”
"Prareth!" Draco suddenly raised his voice, sharp as a girl seeing an insect, "Do you know what you're saying?!"
Praris said calmly, "I understand now."
Draco suddenly realized what he had revealed, and he turned his head to the side, not wanting her to see his expression.
Yes, Praris and Draco know each other very well. Therefore, while such conversations may seem confusing to outsiders, they both understand what the other is saying.
“Have you thought about this?” Praris’s eyes flashed. “You almost killed her.”
Draco stubbornly replied, "I have no idea what you're talking about!"
“You’re not that kind of person,” Praris said in a hoarse voice. “I’ve known you as long as I’ve been at Hogwarts… You’re not that kind of person.”
She said, "Did he ask you to do that? Were you... afraid when you did it?"
Draco was struggling to breathe; despite standing in the snow, he suddenly felt incredibly hot—a burning heat.
Of course, he knew what had happened to Katie Bell, what had happened to her, and that she had been sent to St. Mungo—he had been following the developments closely.
Draco had been hiding these things from Praris, not wanting Praris to know what he was doing.
He told Praris, "I can't tell you what I'm going to do!"
By saying this, he was essentially telling Praris, "Don't try to figure out what I'm going to do!"
There was such an understanding between them.
He also knew that she could control her thoughts.
Prior to this, Praris had almost pretended to be deaf and dumb. But this tacit understanding seemed to have been broken at this moment.
Draco was only on his first mission, but Praris was quick to notice what he had done.
"I don't think you understand what kind of person I am!" Draco shook off Praris's hand. "You haven't been in my shoes, how could you possibly understand how I feel!"
The winds in the Scottish Highlands have been strong these past few days, making Praris's nose red.
Draco, who was furious just a second ago, saw this and quietly pulled her scarf up to cover the lower half of her face.
When he realized what he had done, he quickly lowered his head in remorse.
Praris was very upset.
The evil she sowed finally bore bitter fruit at this moment. The relationship she thought was fleeting and could be easily replaced proved to be far more complex and difficult to abandon so readily.
Prarese was surprised to discover that she had never considered that Winnie had never had a truly lasting relationship, and that Ms. Prie disliked men!
The two of them would never be struggling like Praris is right now.
Under such circumstances, she actually accepted their relationship experiences completely and believed them wholeheartedly.
Fate is strange. It punishes a person not only through the ugliness within their heart, but also torments them with the beauty, trust, tolerance, hope, and longing for love within them.
Chapter 153 Undoubtedly
"But after one summer, the atmosphere at school changed. It was as if everyone had a fire burning inside them, ready to shatter all the peaceful happiness."
"At that time, I knew that it would be difficult to have such peaceful and beautiful summers again in the future."
It was the summer after second grade ended, and Winnie found the clothes that Sylvia had left behind and lent them to Praris.
Prarese heard Winnie's lament but didn't take it to heart. It wasn't until she truly experienced what Winnie had gone through that she finally understood Winnie's sorrow.
At this moment, what lies before her is no longer the long summer days she can squander at will, but the cold winter.
A cold wind blew through the forbidden forest, howling like a mournful cry.
The mountainside was covered with a blanket of white snow and a few clumps of withered grass.
Praris and Draco stood alone in the snow, looking from a distance like a pair of isolated red-billed ravens.
It was Praris who spoke, her voice hoarse and light, as if it could be blown away by a cold wind at any moment: "Show me your left arm, and I'll understand."
This is an unsolvable requirement.
Once Praris speaks, whether she agrees or not is no longer important; she always gets the real answer.
Answers don't always have to be spoken; most truths in the world are self-evident. What people say is what they want others to believe; what they don't say is what truly reflects their thoughts.
Draco froze, standing motionless, seemingly indicating a certain answer.
"Do you have to do this? Do you always have to do this!" Draco seemed to be suppressing some kind of emotion, and he accused him almost cruelly, "Does peeling off a person's skin, exposing their brain and heart, make you happy?"
Is it already this cold in early winter in the Scottish Highlands?
Praris's blood seemed unable to flow through her body. Her hands and feet were icy cold, and the chilblains that hadn't recurred for years were starting to torment her again.
In the past, Draco would put his hands in Praris's pockets, hold her hands, and warm her up.
He hasn't done that since the beginning of the semester—probably because he's afraid Praris will discover the Death Eater mark on his arm?
“No,” Praris said in a muffled voice, burying his chin in his scarf. “The more I see, the more I know, the more pain I feel.”
Sophocles once said, "Ignorance is the happiest thing."
To live or die in complete ignorance is a kind of foolish happiness. To know means to face reality with no escape.
If Praliss knew nothing about what had happened to Draco, she would continue her peaceful and busy school life like any other Hogwarts student.
Unfortunately, she couldn't remain ignorant, and thus she suffered.
“This is a good thing, Praris.” Draco took a deep breath, as if trying to convince himself. “He entrusted this task to me, which means he values me. He thinks I'm loyal enough to do things that others can't!”
“Is that so!” Praris said bluntly. “Since you’re so proud of it, why didn’t you dare show me your arm just now?”
"Why don't you show me your mark of honor? Is it because you're reluctant to part with it?" Praris stared sharply at Draco. "I think this is just a self-hypnotic tactic. You have to tell yourself that this is a good thing, otherwise you can't continue."
With his true thoughts exposed, Draco looked flustered. His eyes darted around, as if he were trying to find a way to escape.
“You can’t do this, Draco,” Praris stepped forward, his voice trembling. “Who does he want you to kill? Potter or Headmaster Dumbledore? How could you do such a thing?”
Looking at Praris, Draco couldn't help but think of his own mother. His mother had once held him and cried, saying she would do the mission in Draco's place.
