Unfortunately, she ran into Bresz Zabini, who was also hiding from the crowd.
At the foot of the wall at the party, Zabini and Praris looked at each other, holding their wine glasses.
"You don't have a male companion?" Zabini frowned.
"You don't have a female companion?" Praris raised an eyebrow.
Zabini sneered: "My standards are rather high!"
Praris scoffed, "I'm not just anyone!"
The two exchanged a glance, snorted, and both felt that Pansy, a mutual friend, was missing from the group.
So Prareas asked him, "Why didn't you invite Pansy?"
Zabini said sarcastically, "Why would I invite her? To hear her advice on how to mediate between you and Draco, or to hear about her sweet daily life with her boyfriend?"
Zabini's mother was stunningly beautiful, which made him have high standards for his lovers and he wouldn't easily fall in love.
But even if he doesn't date, Pansy will still ask him to analyze what the boys are thinking—damn it, how is he supposed to know what kind of garbage Draco and the German have in their heads!
Chapter 158 Counter-Eavesdropping
Pansy is such a kind and warm-hearted girl!
However, such an activity was still a bit too much for Zabini.
Praris and Zabini exchanged "polite" greetings before deciding to part ways and each find a suitable place to stay.
Praris lifted her foot to leave, but Zabini suddenly stopped her.
Zabini chuckled and gestured behind her, "Prince... I think you should turn back."
No sooner had Zabini finished speaking than Filch's voice rang out from behind: "Professor Slughorn! I've caught the boy. He's hiding in the upstairs corridor, who knows what he's up to!"
Filch grabbed Draco's ear, his bulging goldfish eyes gleaming with malice: "Did you send him an invitation?"
Draco angrily pulled his hand away from Filch's, his face showing embarrassment and anger: "You didn't invite me! I came on my own, okay!"
"No, this won't do!" Filch grinned maliciously. "Kid, you're in trouble!"
Filch muttered to himself which school rule Draco had broken, his expression extremely pleased.
Lately, there have been all sorts of pranks, big and small, happening at school. But Filch has never caught the perpetrators, which is incredibly frustrating! Draco has finally walked right into his trap.
Seeing this, Slughorn instinctively wanted to open his mouth and say something, to be a nice guy.
This way, you can easily gain a small favor, quickly resolve the matter, and maintain a harmonious atmosphere at the banquet—why not?
I'm so sorry!
Draco looked in surprise in the direction from which the sound came.
Sometime later, Praris squeezed his way from the edge of the office to the center of the banquet.
“I’m sorry,” Prares said, pushing through the crowd to Slughorn. “Sir, it was I who invited Draco.”
Prareas tried to ignore Professor Snape's glare, lowering his head and looking embarrassed: "I invited Draco, but we had a fight, so..."
Praris didn't finish his sentence, leaving Slughorn to imagine what he was saying.
“Argus, it looks like everything’s alright now!” Slughorn chuckled. “Praris—you’re young, aren’t you? A little bickering is normal! Relax!”
After saying that, he turned to Draco and said, "Such a kind and excellent girl is so rare! It's Christmas today... hiccup, Draco, you have to be more generous to girls!"
As he was talking, Slughorn let out a burp.
Draco composed himself almost instantly, smiling as he said to Slughorn, "You're right, I was being narrow-minded. My grandfather once praised your gentlemanly manners to me..."
Praris felt that Draco was somewhat unfamiliar. His face was paler than before, his eyes were bluish, and his lips were almost bloodless.
She had never seen Draco so emotionally intelligent with anyone other than Professor Snape, but he seemed to have learned how to treat people in ways that Prareas couldn't see.
Snape, his face grim, took two steps back and whispered to Prarese, "I really hope your brain wasn't damaged by the hind legs of the horned toad... Tomorrow, I want an explanation."
After saying that, he stepped forward again, stopping Draco from continuing to interact with Slughorn: "I have something to say to you, Draco."
“Oh dear! Severus! It’s Christmas!” Slughorn mumbled. “Whatever it is, hiccup, we’ll talk about it after the holiday…”
“I am his headmaster, and I decide when to educate him.” Professor Snape glanced at Draco. “Come with me.”
Praliss paid no attention to Professor Snape and Draco; her gaze fell on Harry out of the corner of her eye. The boy seemed somewhat restless and quickly made an excuse to leave the banquet.
This time, Praris took a few more glances at his departing figure.
In the empty corridor, Praris glanced left and right. She raised her wand, tapped it on her boot, and silently walked off in one direction.
"I have made an unbreakable pledge..."
As Harry left, he was wearing an invisibility cloak and practically pressed himself against the classroom door lock, trying to hear what was happening inside.
Just as he was completely absorbed in it, without any sound or sign, something with a pointed tip pressed against his lower back, and a long, slender hand pulled him back from the doorway.
For a moment, Harry's pupils dilated in fright, and he couldn't suppress the scream escaping his throat. But his scream seemed to be choked in his throat, not a single sound escaping.
In another classroom.
Praris raised his wand and cast anti-eavesdropping spells on all four walls.
“To avoid running into someone like you—” Praris looked Harry up and down, “an impolite fellow.”
Once everything was arranged, Praris pointed to Harry's neck, restoring his voice.
Harry took a breath, wanting to retort, but he couldn't bring himself to say that eavesdropping was polite. He was completely baffled: "How did you find that place, and how did you spot me?"
“These questions are too simple.” Praris sat down on the table, crossed his legs, and looked down at him. “I suggest the students explore the answers themselves.”
"Fine, fine, fine!" Harry said, a little annoyed by her provocation. "You heard it all, didn't you? Even if you didn't, someone as smart as you should know, right? Malfoy is plotting something bad, he's already ruined Kitty Bell! Snape is going to help him too, because he swore an oath to Malfoy's mother!"
Praris uttered a single word: "Sir."
"Huh?" Harry asked, confused.
“You rude fellow.” Prareus looked down at him. “Yes, sir, Mr. Snape.”
Harry couldn't take it anymore. Even at a time like this, she was still fussing over how to address someone! Was this a common trait among intelligent people? Both Dumbledore and she were nitpicking over this trivial matter of address.
"Fine! Good!" Harry squeezed out through gritted teeth. "Mr. Snape, is it done?"
Praris nodded: "Of course, it would be even better if you could keep it up."
After saying that, she crossed her arms, looked at the ceiling, and pondered for a moment how to answer Harry's question.
“Harry,” Prarese said in a deep voice, “everyone has their own task. You, me, and Mr. Snape, we all have our own things to do.”
"What did Dumbledore tell you to do?" Harry asked in surprise.
Praris shook his head: "No, I brought it on myself, but it doesn't matter. Harry, don't you know what it means to distrust your teammates?"
“You learned that lesson last year, didn’t you?” Prareth was shrewd with words. “If you had trusted Professor Snape, the Order of the Phoenix wouldn’t have had to pay those prices. You would have known that Sirius Black was a very good person in every way.”
Harry lowered his head and clenched his fists.
Judging from his appearance, Praris knew he was upset.
“I understand that some past experience has made you distrust the role of adults,” Praris said calmly. “But when facing an enemy, whether it’s an adult or anyone else, we’re all in this together.”
"Why don't you tell Dumbledore what you've discovered?"
Why don't you tell Dumbledore about your worries?
Why not ask Dumbledore what exactly happened?
Why—you trust Dumbledore so much, yet you're unwilling to trust him at all?
Hearing these questions, Harry looked at her incredulously: "I thank you, Prass! I don't deny that I made a mistake last year, but it wasn't solely my fault. Do you really think that all the mistakes were just because I didn't take the initiative to communicate with Dumbledore?!"
How long has Dumbledore been at school this year? How long are their classes? How abruptly do they end each class?
Has Praris considered these issues?
“Harry, clear your mind,” Praris said calmly. “Inhale, one, two, three, four, five! Exhale, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, stop!”
Before Harry could even react, he instinctively did as Praris asked. After completing the whole process, Harry's anger vanished; he just wanted to roll his eyes rudely.
Here we go again...
The Occupy Brain course ended a long time ago, okay?
Praris nodded in satisfaction. "Very good, let's continue. Harry, now think back to my first three questions. This is the solution process, not an interrogation."
Harry paused, recalling the first three questions.
The first question is to tell Dumbledore about your discovery.
The second question is to tell Dumbledore what you think.
The third question was to inquire about the details of Dumbledore's affair.
Praris jumped off the table, patted Harry on the shoulder, and looked at him with a penetrating gaze: "Since last year, you and Dumbledore have both learned your lesson. If you don't get an answer now, it's either because you don't want to ask Dumbledore, or because Dumbledore doesn't want to answer you."
"These two answers point to whether you should know this. If you think you should, then you will get the answer or an explanation."
Harry stood there, stunned, thinking about how Dumbledore always rushed through the lessons.
Each time, he had many questions on his mind, but many times he inexplicably swallowed them back.
He had clearly told Dumbledore about Malfoy's suspicious behavior, but Dumbledore just felt there was no evidence and that Malfoy shouldn't be accused, and he didn't take the matter to heart.
Praris gave him a meaningful look at the expression on his face, as if he had obtained some answer.
She said with a smile, "Harry, it seems you shouldn't know this... but I encourage you to ask Dumbledore and share your feelings."
"Why?" Harry asked instinctively.
Praris chuckled: "You must have such a strong desire to express yourself even when facing Dumbledore, Mr. Savior."
She thought for a moment, then answered Harry with surprising candor: "It's related to the task I'm currently undertaking, but the probability of achieving my goal is very low, so it's not time for it to be released yet. Just take it as... a piece of heartfelt advice."
Harry didn't understand a word!
Prareus's words were even more difficult to understand than the riddle of the Sphinx. At least the Sphinx clearly stated the question, but Prareus made it impossible for him to even find the question itself.
How exactly did Hermione communicate with Prader?
"That's about it for today... Oh, right," Praris suddenly said, "Harry, copying homework isn't a healthy way to study, no matter whose homework you copy."
